The property was nice upon arrival but as we settled in we noticed the property hadn’t been properly cleaned.There was dried food and stains on the carpet, coffee table, table runner and ottoman. Other random small pieces of trash and an earring which a proper vacuuming would have certainly picked up. We also suspect there were mouse droppings in the hallway and laundry room.We vacuumed those areas before we went to bed that evening.Additionally, we then also noticed a dirty used bar of soap left in the main bathtub, dried chicken bones left in the kitchen garbage cans, a pair of men’s dress shoes left under the guest bed, a dirty sock in the laundry room, and maggots in the garage and also on the garage rug.We did contact the property owner by text with pictures and a video and she sent someone to clean Saturday while we were gone. The area re-cleaned was minimal and only the dried food in front of the couch, the table runner removed, and a few spots on the table were attended to. (We removed the soap before showering)We asked kindly for the cleaners to return and attend to the areas of original oversight but the extreme lack of detail the hired cleaning crew missed not only once, but twice, is unacceptable.The linens were clean and the house otherwise was comfortable. We did ask for some of our fee to be retuned and the owner refused.
