About this property
Elsie Cabin | Saumarez Homestead
ELSIE CABIN | SAUMAREZ HOMESTEAD
Elsie Cabin is a light-filled, thoughtfully designed eco-tourism studio set within the historic Saumarez Homestead estate on Anaiwan Country, just outside of Armidale. Named after Elsie White, one of five daughters of the White family of Saumarez Homestead, the studio offers a contemporary rural retreat in a stunning pastoral setting.
Drawing inspiration from Elsie White’s connection to the surrounding rural landscape, the interiors feature an earthy autumnal palette and natural textures, while elegant portraits of horses nod to her reputation as a talented equestrienne. The design balances modern comfort with a relaxed country aesthetic, creating a space that feels warm, easy, and quietly refined.
The open-plan layout includes a well-appointed kitchenette with microwave, bar fridge and Nespresso coffee machine, a comfortable lounge area, and a queen-sized bed. The ensuite bathroom features a walk-in rain shower, vanity and toilet, while reverse-cycle air conditioning ensures year-round comfort.
Large sliding doors open onto a private, undercover deck with seating for two. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee or unwind in the evening, overlooking rolling paddocks where cattle graze peacefully under the expansive New England skies.
Perfect for couples or solo travellers, Doris Studio offers a peaceful and private stay within a National Trust estate - where a tranquil rural landscape, heritage, and contemporary country living come together in quiet harmony.
