About the host
Hosted by Kristen Hancock
Local to the Adelaide Hills, we have 3 young boys which keeps life fun and busy! We also run our own electrical business & when we can we enjoy escaping the hustle and bustle of life and heading to the beach and spending time all together living our best beach lives!
Why they chose this property
My husband grew up on the West Coast (Port Lincoln) enjoying the local coastline and all the activities that came with it, with 3 young boys the drive over became more challenging but we knew we wanted to create a life for them that was similar - which is why the Yorke Peninsula was the perfect compromise offering the same country coastal vibe and only 2 hours drive from Adelaide. It was the best decision we have ever made!
What makes this property unique
We designed our "shack" with the intent that it was a place to getaway and gather with our closest friends & family. With a large communal main living space that floods on to the deck there is room for everyone to just be together and then enough bedrooms & beds for everyone to retreat and get a good nights sleep. The kitchen is designed to cook and cater for large groups from the large double fridge to the 900 wide oven & cook top and huge island bench there is enough room for multiple chefs and kids running between your legs! We love the warmth of the fireplace in winter after a day of beach exploring & fishing but also opening up the large glass doors and letting the breeze flow through in warmer months. The interior has been designed to emulate the calmness of the coast from soft bluey green tones of the water to the soft pink of the fairfloss skys at sunset. The outdoor shower with hot water was a must with small kids - and there truly is nothing like coming back from the beach all sandy and cold and then rinsing off in warm water!
And with only a 50m stroll to the beach and uninterrupted views it truly is magical, I'm not sure life gets much better at the beach!
