Beautiful property and cottage was beautifully furnished and built, extremely clean and the property owner kindly welcomed us upon arrival. My partner and I stayed here as one of our last stops before heading home from a trip out to Nova Scotia and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the peaceful property. Thank you Raja and Alan for the wonderful experience and all the lovely details and small touches that you put into our stay! Would recommend the property rental to anyone wishing for a relaxing and quiet vacation!

Welcome! We're the family behind Horse Meadow Cottage and Waterford Equine-Assisted Healing, a local nonprofit that creates opportunities for people to connect with horses in meaningful ways.

We built this cottage because we love sharing our little corner of New Brunswick with others. Whether you're here to hike, ski, explore the coast, or simply take a break from everyday life, we hope you'll feel at home from the moment you arrive.

We're always happy to recommend our favourite hiking trails, restaurants, hidden gems, and local attractions. If you're curious about the horses or would like to meet them during your stay, just let us know—we're always happy to make introductions when we're available.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Waterford because it feels like the kind of place where horses belong. It's a welcoming farming community with rolling hills, open fields, and a pace of life that's a little slower than most.

At the same time, we're only minutes from Sussex and an easy drive to Fundy National Park, Poley Mountain, the Sussex Bluffs Hiking Trail, St. Martins, and the Bay of Fundy. We love that we can spend the day exploring everything this region has to offer and still come home to the countryside.

For us, it truly is the best of both worlds.

What makes this property unique

Horse Meadow Cottage is more than just a place to stay—it's part of a property with a story.

Our family also founded Waterford Equine-Assisted Healing, a nonprofit inspired by the quiet connection people experience with horses. While the cottage is completely private, you'll often see the horses grazing in the nearby pastures and catch a glimpse of everyday life on the property.

Around here, the horses aren't an attraction, they're simply part of who we are. They shape the rhythm of our days, and we think they add something special to the experience of staying here.
