About the host
Hosted by Darrel Smith

Christine and I are both from Colorado and have been married for 36 years. We both love going on vacations and/or long weekends getaways. For over the last 20 years we have loved to travel and have stayed in so many different cabins and short term rentals all over the United Stated and abroad.
In 2019 we took a vacation to Tennessee and we both fell in love with the Smoky Mountains and knew this was a very special place. I can truly say the Smoky Mountains are every bit as beautiful as the Colorado Rockies. I will also say the relaxing atmosphere and the kindness of all of the locals in the area make this place one of the best places we have ever been.
Our dream has always been to have a cabin where we can enjoy being near a gorgeous lake with the great views. After spending some amazing time in Tennessee, we immediately started looking at property in the area in hopes to find a 2nd home where we can enjoy all Tennessee has to offer. We came across an amazing get-away cabin we call The Lazy Bear Hideaway and we were blessed with the opportunity to purchase it. After staying in the Smoky Mountains, we realized being here was more beautiful than we could imaging. We thought it would be selfish to keep it all to ourselves, so we decided to share it with others in hopes they will get as much joy staying here as we do.
Since we have traveled and stayed at so many cabins over the last couple of decades (some great & many other not-so great), we decided we wanted to make The Lazy Bear Hideaway the perfect getaway for everyone to enjoy. Our goal from the beginning has been to have a place away from home where everyone feels like they are family and not a guest. So, please if you see anything you don’t like, or if you feel the cabin can use some additional items please let us know.
We truly hope you enjoy staying at The Lazy Bear Hideaway and we are confidence that you will come back soon.

We absolutely enjoy going to Gatlinburg and see many of the locally owned shops on the main street. We love going to Pigeon Forge and seeing the dinner shows. So many to choose from however all are extremely good. When in Pigeon Forge you have to stop by The Old Mill Restaurant the food is amazing and I guarantee you will not leave hungry as they serve family style meals.
