About this property
Adorable House with a Backyard Duck Pond
This is a newly built (2015) 2 bedroom, 2 bath house with all of the needed amenities during your stay. An outside back porch that provides a comfortable couch area that looks out at the park with the cutest little duck pond and gives you the best view of the trains as they pass through town. In just a short walk through town, you are just blocks away from all the restauarants and bars in the area, including the public beach. There is also a small Public park across the front of the house with a tennis court and a children’s playground. You will never have a day without anything to do in this spot! Please know that this home is located very closely to the trains. I do provide earplugs and sound machines if desired. I cannot guarantee that these trains won’t wake you up, but I can guarantee that this location and vacation are worth it :) My family has gotten used to the trains and come to love them as a small town sweet part of the stay.

Had an amazing weekend at this beautiful house. We had a friend getting married at the Loft and this was the perfect weekend getaway. Will definitely be back.
The property was just as described. The trains passing by were loud but we got use to them. The location was within walking distance of the shops, restaurants, and gulf which was great. We would definitely stay at the property again.
Fabulous!!!Trip with daughter and two grandsons (4 & 2). This house is beautiful and has everything you need. Great location, we were able to enjoy walking to dinner, shops, treats, and playgrounds. We hope to stay there again next year.
Host was great to work with. She responded to questions very quickly. The price of our stay was very reasonable. House was cute and clean. We vacationed with another couple and having the bedrooms on separate floors gave both parties privacy. The duck pond and ducks were very cool. The ducks came to the back door almost every morning for breakfast! We were within walking distance to the bars and restaurants so saved money on gas and trying to find parking. The not so great thing were the trains. They came through at all hours of the night and day and blew their whistles at each crossing. Unfortunately, there is a crossing right by the house. Other guests were able to get used to the trains but the four of us could not. Overall we were happy with our stay and if trains are your thing this is a great place for you to book.
We do quarterly “girls” trips and are so glad we found your place. Not only was the home perfect, the location was great! We had the best time, and will be back!
We had a great time exploring BSL and watching the birds in the pond. Kids rode the bike available, climbed trees in park behind house. We were all able to walk to Main Street to explore. Great house.
Perfect location for friends in to celebrate one son's graduation and another son's 21st. The home was as comfortable as it was beautiful. The location perfect. Walked for AM coffee, walked to grad awards, waked to dinner.... just great!
It was an amazing experience. The location was perfect for what I'm looking for. Was very relaxing. Sarah us very accommodating. I plan to come back again.
Absolute adorable place. Very clean. Quiet neighborhood. We rented a golf cart from Bay Rentals LLC and were able to go to all of the local bars and restaurants on the golf cart. The train does pass in the backyard and is loud. However, it was not terrible and we would for sure book again regardless. It was very convenient to rent a place that provided essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, zip lock bags, etc.
This was a great getaway for us! We walked to most places for shopping and eating! The place was very clean and beautifully decorated! The trains coming through are definitely heard, but not a deterrent for us at all!! A great spot for enjoying BSL! Sarah was a great host and easy to communicate with. We will be back!
The property is a gem. The surrounding area is a perfect. The duck pond and park is picturesque. The house was perfect, plenty of room and adequately equipped. The only drawback is the train tracks are pretty close and the horn can be loud. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
We frequent come to the Bay and this was our first time to stay in The Depot area. Loved the house!!! Very well decorated and comfortable. I was concerned about being so close to the train track but it was a cool experience and wasn’t bad at all! We will definitely book this home again.
We stayed the month of Feb, 2024. This home is beautiful and provides easy access to the coast, town, and highway. Our hostess Sarah made sure all amenities were provided and was easily accessible if we had questions. The backyard pond was lovely and we felt safe walking to the town a few steps away. The Mardi Gras parades set up near the house so no need to fight crowds in town. I loved the train but earplugs are provided if the sound is an issue at night. The nearby coastal main road is gorgeous and provides access to either La or Al if you are interested in exploring the area. Recommend this lovely home for your next getaway.

Thank you Jeanne!! I’m so glad you all enjoyed your stay! Hope to have you in the bay again soon !
We enjoyed staying in The Whistle Stop and found the location convenient to restaurants and shops in the area. The house was stocked with basic guest items and a generous supply of bath and kitchen linens. I adored the sounds of the trains—The Louisiana Railroad Festival is held annually in my hometown. The Mockingbird Cafe was a favorite for a late breakfast and the Alice Moseley Folk Art Museum in the train depot was delightful. Our host, Sarah, was prompt to return our request about WiFi information. We later discovered that it’s on a chalkboard on the kitchen counter. She also left check-out instructions on the refrigerator door. We look forward to a return trip.
Quaint neighborhood, super cozy doll house type home!
Thanks to the owner, We enjoyed our stay! The backyard view of the park and duck pond was great. The house was very well supplied and decorated nicely. We loved the close walks to the beach and breakfast at Mockingbird Cafe. The one drawback was the train which runs close by, vibrates the house pretty loudly, and occurred a couple of times per night. The sound machines in the rooms helped!
This property has to be one of the favorites my husband and I have ever rented. It’s within walking distance of our favorite restaurants and shops in beautiful downtown Bay St Louis. The noise of the train was a little unnerving at first, but we soon got used to it. If you are looking for a great location, a beautiful home with great amenities, and an accommodating host, then this property is the one for you!
Hi! I am Sarah. I am a New Orleans local who fell in love with the small town charm of Bay St Louis. While I am not on site during your stay, I am just an hour away for any of your needs. I have been working in the cruise line industry since 2012, and enjoy the benefits of traveling. I am excited to host you in my home, and give you the opportunity to fall in love with the Bay just like me! :)
Why they chose this property
I knew this house was perfect for me, just like I know it will be perfect for you! It is located right in the heart of Old Town. You are just minutes away from all the restaurants, bars, and antique shops that give this town its unique reputation. Whether you rent a golf cart to fit in with the locals, or prefer to walk, you are just a hop skip and jump away from a good time any time. This property is my home away from home, so it holds everything you will need during your stay- a full kitchen, outdoor grill, cable tv, wifi, and a grand view of the duck pond and railroad tracks that run right through town. Rather spend your time on the beach? Just a short 3 mintue drive to the public beach where you can spend your day with the family soaking up the sun and sand. Are you a gambler? You are right inbetween the 2 casinos on the coast. Prefer to shop? The town is sprinkled with plenty of antique shops and local artists. Or you can head on over to the Gulfport outlets which are just 30 minutes away! My home away from home is the perfect place for a small town getaway when you just need some time away from home and work.
