We are the owners of a townhouse style condo just steps to the beach, at the Kihei Akahi in beautiful Kihei, Hawaii. Perfect for those looking for an ideal getaway located in paradise. We own three of the eight units available in the exclusive A Building. Our unit has two walk out lanais (top and bottom) to enjoy the spectacular sunsets.

Our central air conditioned condo is just steps away from one of the most uncrowded and beautiful fine-sand beaches in Maui. Hale Kamaole Beach Park II has some of the best swimming and snorkeling anywhere. There is a lifeguard station on the beach, and tide pool area on the south side, teeming with crabs, starfish, etc. It's also a great place to snorkel.

Our Kihei Oceanfront Condo

Our two story unit is a spacious, 1175 sq. ft. with a top and bottom lanai a stones throw from the beach. Our condo has 2 bedrooms and 1-1/2 baths, and is fully equipped with linens, towels, dishes, etc.

Absolutely loved the location. Couldn’t beat it. Traffic noise was not an issue. Two things could be improved. One, there was no dish rack even though some items were not dish washer friendly. Second the bedding. Overall we were happy with our choice.

This is our 2nd time staying here. The location is directly across the street from Kamaole II beach. A beautiful beach with easy access. A three minute walk to the water from the condo. Beautiful sunsets and swimming with turtles are highlights. Walking distance to restaurants and general store.

For this review, there were two seeded questions to help get the review started: DId the host seem welcoming and where the amenities in good condition. Interesting way to start, both were a no. The communication with the host was not good at all, it felt like I was interacting with an automated system. And the amenities in the condo were less than impressive. Everything you'd expect was there, it was just shabby. It felt like an apartment for a first year college student.Now for the good, and there was a lot of good! The condo was huge! Lots of space, rooms were very big. The view was as advertised, amazing. We watched sunsets every night. The noise from the road was unpleasant, but we knew that going in so not much of an issue. The condo complex was great, very well maintained. The pool (we only used one of the two) was excellent and the tennis/pickleball court was well used. Check in was a breeze. The location for us was perfect. Kam 2 is one of our favorite beaches and we were within casual walking distance from shops, restaurants, coffee, acai bowls and a bonus...the Wednesday market was a block away.TL:DR - nice place but I wouldn't rent again. If host wanted to update the amenities, this could easily be a 4 or 5 star review!

We absolutely loved our stay in this Kihei condo and would book it again in a heartbeat. It is an ideal location--central to the island and directly across the street from a wonderful beach. We appreciated the warm welcome from the on-location staff who were helpful with everything we needed. The condo has a couple of boogie boards and some beach chairs which came in really handy. Can't wait to return!

Loved the location and lower lanai. The condo needs some updating of bedding and carpet, cleaning and restocking. I shared my concerns with Tyler and he was able to get more beach towels dropped off (condo had 3). I wish the upstairs lanai was cleaned off so we could have sat up there but the bird poop was so caked on I wasnt about to start scrubbing. The pool and grill were nice and a great way to end our long days.

Great Little Condo

I just loved this place. The beach, the view, the location are all perfect. I loved the little community around it. Fred's is fun and so close and the shopkeepers are friendly. The condo was great for us. The kitchen is small but workable and the beds were great except for one of the couch beds. If I had to list improvements I'd tell the owners to recarpet the condo and put another foam mattress on one of the coach beds. We tried everything and that bed was not very sleepable.

A+ Location and Unit

We absolutely loved the location of this condo! Right next to multiple restaurants, beach across the street, easy parking, great complex amenities, and right next to the sidewalks (for walks and early morning runs). The two story unit was fantastic to relax on the grass, or up on the balcony, overlooking the ocean. Only cons, were sometimes the traffic noise was a little loud (didn't really bother us), and the carpet has been used pretty hard (no big deal). Overall any cons were nothing compared to all the pros of this unit. We'd absolutely stay here again!!!

Great Location

The location is fantastic -- right across the street from Kamaole Beach Park II and within short walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Because the unit is close to South Kihei Blvd, it can be noisy during the day when the doors are open. The air conditioners in the unit are very quiet, but a timer prevents them from running more than 6 hours. So if you want air conditioning all night, you have to get up in the middle of the night to reset the timer. The two lanais are nice, and we used them a lot. The pool on the property is mediocre, but we spent all our lounging time at the beach. The unit was well equipped and mostly clean (there had been some recent construction). We called the local property manager on the first day to get help using the streaming services on the TV. He never called back, but we found a workaround. We would definitely stay here again.

My stay was great! The place was not very clean as I found trash under a bed and the linen for the pullout couch was dirty. The communication with the property manager is awful. They do not answer nor do they call back. I forgot my curling iron and contacted the property manager. I wanted to see if my friend could go pick it up becythey we’re still in Maui. Neither the property manager or the maintenance manager called me back. Overall the property it’s in a great location and we enjoyed our stay.

Our family loves to stay at the Kihei Acahi complex, with its close proximity to town, yet it's close proximity to great beaches. This particular condo (A101) cannot be beat, with incredible views of the ocean from both lanais. It feels private, and while it's true (other reviewers) that you can hear traffic from South Kihei Road, and noise from the restaurant to the right of the condo, we did not find it bothersome or problematic during our 8-day stay. The great location, nightly spectacular sunsets, fast walk to the beach, and close proximity to the pool and BBQ area was worth it, for us! House was well equipped, and felt spacious enough for comfort (it's one of the larger condos, at over 1000 sq ft) our larger family felt very comfortable there. We had and extra car for added independence and flexibility, and it was no problem! We were able to park close by in visitor parking at the complex for $2/day. Overall, definitely recommend! I would return to this unit and encourage others to do so as well.

Loved Kihei Akahi Unit A101

This was my 1st trip to Maui. Kihei and Kihei Akahi were recommended by a friend who has been lucky enough to visit the Island every year for the last 19 years. Kihei Akahi is the only place they stay. Absolutely loved Kihei and Kihei Akahi. The complex is well maintained and beautiful. The onsite office staff was very nice and helpful and are there to answer any questions and offer maps and directions. There are four buildings to choose from, my friend prefers building C because they stay on the 5th or 6th floor and love the views. I loved building A, unit A101. First building as you pull in, facing due west. WOW WOW WOW....you can watch the sunset every night right from your lanai....upper or lower lanai. That's right, this unit is a two story end unit. So let's get to the point....pictures don't do it justice. All surfaces were upgraded to Corian, pretty sure it was Corian, and they are beautiful. Full size washer and dryer....also upgraded, so don't pay attention to the pictures, I think they are LG or Samsung and are front loading and are on the second floor where they belong. Full disclosure on kitchen review, I'm a chef and cook for a living, so I had no intention on actually using the kitchen. Hahaha I did use the coffee pot and toaster and a knife to cut fruit. The kitchen looked to be well stocked and useable to cook meals. The ice maker in the freezer kept up, we filled a cooler every morning when we left. Bedrooms were spacious, big closets, dresser and drawers to unpack. There is a small safe is the master bedroom. Beds were comfortable, plenty of linens and towels. Loved having a half bath on the 1st floor too. Large full bath and double vanity on second floor. Seating on upper lanai off master bedroom and off lower lanai off living room. The unit does have AC and not just in the living room. Both bedrooms and living room have their own units, controlled independently. There is a timer in the living room, read the welcome book left on the bar to understand how to use the units. They do the job, we were on Maui the very end of September through the 1st week of October, it was hot. I am totally renting this unit next year, I'm not sure I would stay anywhere else. I do hope that the closet with beach items gets cleaned out. There really wasn't a cooler to use, we bought one. Chairs are fair. Broken umbrella. Lots of boogie boards. Pros: AC worked great in every room. Big beautiful place with all that you need for vacation. Beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels, beach toys for kids and a pack n play with a high chair available in the unit, huge plus! New washer and dryer worked amazing. Walk across the street to the beautiful sunset beach with turtles. Huge living room area with two sofas that can be queen beds. Ocean view from balcony and the sound of waves all day and night! Medium sized pool, grill, vending machines all super close. Cons: the unit is a little bit dated, spotting on carpet upstairs, ants in the kitchen and upstairs (we bought ant killing bait and that got rid of them for a couple days)

2nd time renting this Condo!!

We LOVE this property and have stayed in this condo twice! The location is absolutely perfect, walkable to restaurants, beaches etc... The only thing I would say could use an update would be the beds. The mattresses in both rooms are pretty uncomfortable. Obviously didn't stop us from coming back so the pros definately outweigh the bed issue :)

Why they chose this property

We have visited Maui for over 40 years. It took several years for a unit to become available to purchase in the ocean front A building at Kihei Akahi. With all the amenities in the complex and a stones throw to the beach it's hard to find a better place to stay.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the top lanai watching whales and sunsets. The bottom lanai is private where we typically eat most of our meals and are able to enjoy the manicured lawn and tropical plants. Since we have a toddler it's excellent to put her down early upstairs and we can continue to enjoy both lanais and the entire main floor in the evenings.
