Ultra-quiet, serene, cozy apartment above my garage; country setting, 30 minutes south of Charlotte North Carolina, 45 minutes to airport. Full kitchen, single bath. Living area with large picture window and ample closet. Antique heart pine floor. Private entrance.
A person desiring a secluded getaway in a setting described as "very quiet" will feel very comfortable in this ~600 sq ft apartment above my garage which is adjacent to the house where I live, located near the rear of a 5.5 acre, heavily wooded lot.
The mature forest is visible in every direction, with no view of neighbors, except perhaps when the trees have shed their leaves in fall and winter. The driveway is 700 feet long, well away from the main road. The space is perfect for an individual, up to two adults.
There are no domestic animals on the premises and pets are not permitted. You may see white-tail deer and you may also see or hear hawks, owls and various other wildlife which inhabits the natural environment here. I've recently seen more rare raccoon and fox.
The kitchen space is large for this setting with a 4-seat dining table and laundry wash/dry appliance. NO dishwasher appliance, only a dish drainer for hand-washing! The vinyl floor has just been replaced.
Recently renovated, it also has a folding, Q-size "Murphy" bed which can be made to disappear during the day. There is also a folding futon couch/sleeper (queen-size) and a leather swivel chair. The living/sleeping space features very old heart pine flooring which was recovered/refinished from an old home at the front of the property and gives a unique appearance. The refrigerator and window air unit are fairly new. The brand-new main oven has been recently augmented by a more economical counter-top oven/broiler/toaster with moderate capacity suitable for most meal prep.
Free WiFi is available and the signal is nominally a 3-4 bar strength, around 16+ megabyte download speed. No fiber super-fast service is yet available in this rural area.
Currently there is no television.
The bathroom has a stand-up, tiled shower; plenty spacious, but no tub.
The residence is a deep well-fed water system, so please plan to be a bit discriminating on being watchful to not flush items into the drainage system that will degrade the residence for future occupants.
In summary, if you are seeking a pleasant bit of solitude, in the setting of a small southern town nearby, this is the dynamic you'll find here. Think: "American version of Under the Tuscan Sun". :) I'll be looking forward to hosting you.
I am often on-premises and am available to give necessary assistance during daytime hours.
The neighborhood: The driveway borders a two-lane, country road, just across from a small farm area. Sheep and horse inhabit the pasture across the street. The closest gasoline/country store is just 2 miles away. All adjacent lots are 5+ acres.
Getting Around: There are no public transportation options until one gets closer to the Charlotte area, where the international airport, Amtrak, buses and growing metro system operates. My home is approximately 45 minutes SE of the Charlotte Douglas Int'l Airport.
The county seat of Monroe, NC is 20 minutes to the east, offering more shopping and restaurant options.
The somewhat wealthy area known as "Ballantyne" is north of Waxhaw about 15 minutes distant where more up-scale options exist, in terms of shopping and entertainment.
Three or four golf courses are not far away, in Ballantyne, Monroe, and Lancaster SC, and the area of Quail Hollow, NC which hosts numerous PGA events is also within a 20-minute drive.
Auto sports figure greatly in the area including a 2.5 mile road course track in Kershaw SC. Many folks come to the Charlotte area for the NASCAR scene which has a summer-full of premier auto events.
Other Charlotte venues can be searched to include dining, arts, and great entertainment:

Dave is an incredibly helpful and kind man. I had a great time having conversations with him. The apartment is in good condition and clean. The property is the real asset. It is tucked away in the woods and very peaceful.

Austin was super-keen to comply with house rules, and always willing to lend a hand. (This was especially kind of him during my shoulder surgery recovery which prohibited me from doing certain items).
He respectfully cleaned up after himself and was a tremendous communicator.
If you like to fall asleep to the sounds of nature, this is a great place to stay. Being in the woods is relaxing to me, so I liked this particular VRBO. The proprietor was very friendly and accommodating. The property was very clean and comfortable.

Diane seemed a fabulous guest, although our time was quite brief because of her quite important family agenda. Given more opportunity to get to know Diane, I'm betting she'd be a super-excellent person about whom one would say "Really enjoyed having her and she'd be welcome back ANY TIME!!"
Hopefully there might be such an opportunity again in the future. I sensed a very genuine and highly intellectual persona!
Diane has a very impressive professional career going, from what she shared online. An extraordinary personality, I'd guess!
Thanks Diane, for allowing me to host you and best of luck with your dear family into the future.
He was such a gracious host. My trip was rainy and when I arrived it was dark. He made sure I knew just how to get to his property. It was just what I wanted and the rain was a lovely touch. I saw deer and it’s just so quiet and lovely.
Very simple and clean, no tv but provides WIFI. Which was all I needed. I board my horse nearby and working with her and trainer.
In the evenings just wanted to relax enjoy the quiet and solitude.
Host made sure to let me know if I needed anything to let him know.
Just what I was looking for.
Stayed here for 2 months. I was perfect. So quiet and serene. David was awesome. Kept to himself but had no problem talking when I wanted someone to talk to. I hope we stay friends. Waxhaw is a great little town. Great restaurants, bars and a tap house within 10 minutes. Everyone was friendly and made me like I was home! This place is great for long stays. Kitchen is big, bed was comfortable, I couldn’t have asked for more. I’d have rented this place for longer but I found a home and had to leave. David even introduced me to a great realtor! This place was great and I’d rent again and suggest others do too.

Rachel was a dream guest. She's the kind of person you always wish will book your place; kind, considerate, funny.
She'll always be wecome to return!
David's property worked out perfectly for my son's summer internship. It was about a 30 minute drive for him to get to Richburg, SC. Having grown up in the country, he felt very comfortable outside of Waxhaw. Accommodations worked well for his needs.
Most importantly, David was very easy to work with. It is easy to see that he takes pride is his place and wanted my son to have a great experience for his summer. When my son's car started having problems, David even stepped in a lent a hand. As a father located over a 1,000 miles away - I very much appreciated his help.
Would definitely stay again. Thanks!

Liam and father Bob were both splendid to work with.
Liam is a quiet, young gentleman who is very considerate and polite. He would be welcome to return again and I quite recommend him as a VRBO guest.
Location was perfect for my visit and so very reasonable. The owner was solicitous and advised me when there would be noise or activities that might impact m e. And when the airline misplaced my bag Dave even offered me a ride back to the airport.
