About the host
Hosted by Renee Panzer
My wife and I live in South Florida on the coast. Although we love the beautiful crystal clear water in South Florida we also love the crisp clean air and amazing mountain terrain at our cabin. We have been visiting Bryson City for almost 15 years and from the first day we arrived we absolutely fell in love with this town, the people that live here, the hiking, the rafting, the fishing and everything else that we enjoy doing. We have always wanted to have a few cabins where we could have our entire extended family come and stay in the same area as a type of family retreat. This cabin and the property that it sits on are the beginning steps of making that dream a reality.
Why they chose this property
We love waking up in the morning and sitting out on the porch drinking our coffee and just listening to all the sounds. Its so quiet up there. We have placed bird feeders out that attract cardinals and other types of birds. There is also humming birds that fly around the property. We hear our stream running in the distance and it is just so peaceful. We really enjoy this property because it is a safe place for our kids to go into the woods or down by the stream and we feel perfectly comfortable. The hiking trails are a great way to go out into nature and up to the top of the property where the property backs up to the Nantahala National Forest.
What makes this property unique
There are so many waterfalls around the area and many more within driving distance. From the cabin the closest and what seems to be the least visited waterfall is Alarka Falls. It is just a few minutes up Alarka road. Alarka road dead ends into the Alarka Falls trail head. The hike runs along the creek and eventually brings you up to the bottom of Alarka Falls.
