We only had one night to stay in this amazing cabin…oh how we would have loved to stay longer! The views were spectacular! The cabin was clean cozy and very comfortable. The fireplace added warmth and charm. The beds were wonderful. And did I mention the hot tub?!
We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It was very clean and updated with a fantastic view. The pictures are accurate and likely don’t do it justice. There are a cluster of three cabins at the top of the mountain but I felt there was plenty of privacy. We saw a bald eagle on our last evening, which felt like a nice end to our stay. We drove about 55 minutes to hike Charlie’s bunion from Newfound Gap. We rode the Smoky Mountain Railroad in an open air car. We visited the Oconaluftee visitor center and walked the short trail and saw a group of elk drinking nearby from the river. We definitely book another stay in the future.
the cabin was beautiful and as pictured. the view was amazing as pictured. This being said, the driveway there is a dirt/stone road and was not noted in the property details. i have a very low car and almost got stuck in the huge holes. there was scraping along my car from the uneven drive. this should definitely be noted on the listing. also, 4 towels provided is not enough for a place with a hot tub. loved it but seriously concerned about the damage to the bottom of my car. please include that in your property description so future people do not have car issues following their stay.
The peace and quiet was well received had a little issue with the thermostat, but I think that’s because it was pre-programmed for when people are not there. Other than that the view was outstanding. Everything we needed was there. The cleanliness was five star. Everything function the way it was supposed to, and sometimes that in itself is enough, but I have to say above board setting above board amenities and a spectacular view.
The property was peaceful with breathtaking views! We rented both cabins with our friend group and enjoyed both deck spaces and the fire pit. The cabins were clean, tastefully appointed, and accessible to the marina and the town shops and restaurants. We’d stay here again!
Beautifully put together cabin. The view is amazing of Fontana Lake. We were able to see an eagle as advertised. Would definitely book again. Comfortable beds, plenty of kitchen items. They have done a great job with this property. Nicest vacation rental I've stayed at.
The property was stunning! The views were exactly what we needed. The cabin was very clean and was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the experience very much. Definitely is on the top of the list for places to stay!
We had a perfect stay! Each morning the clouds gave a different "mood" to the mountains, which we enjoyed from the deck over hot coffee. Songbirds are abundant, and we even saw a Bald Eagle. Each night we had a small campfire watching the darkness settle in. If you seek a relaxing place away from the crowds with a stunning view, this cabin is it! Hosts were great, place is spotless.

Thank you so much for choosing us for your vacation. We hope to see you again soon!
This stay was absolutely breathtaking. It brought together my family for the first time in years, and the clean tidy beautiful home made everyone feel at peace. Thank you for all that you do.
This rental had an amazing view. I don’t know how it could’ve been any better. We were also blown away by the cleanliness of this rental. So clean and well taken care of! A great location and a truly wonderful stay!
The view was unbelievable and the setting was so quiet. The cabin was exactly as listed, very clean, and the handicapped accessible features were great. The wifi was excellent and we had no problems. I was skeptical when I saw the location, but it was perfect. Every detail was covered, from the supplies in the kitchen, the bathrooms, laundry, etc. We had an amazing stay, thanks!

About the host
Hosted by Clarissa and Mike
Shannon and Michelle purchased 12 acres of raw undeveloped land in 2013 surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest. Little did they know (for the thick foliage) that they had a Million Dollar View of a Horseshoe Bend on Fontana Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! It took viewing Google Maps to see what a gem they had found. They moved to Bryson City after selling their home and printing business in Fletcher NC (close to Asheville). Shannon grew up in Bryson City, and Michelle fell in love with this "Gateway to the Smokies" town when they built a house boat at Almond Boat Park in 2013, that floats on Fontana Lake. They finished building Eagle's Nest in Oct 2015 and now share it with guests from all over the world! ❤️Exciting News – A New Chapter for Our Vacation Homes! Dear Friends and Guests, We wanted to share some exciting news with you. After many wonderful years of hosting guests at our vacation homes, we’ll be passing the torch to new owners, Clarissa and Mike, who will continue welcoming visitors with the same care and hospitality that have made this place so special. We’re thrilled to know it will continue to be cared for by people who are equally committed to providing a warm, relaxing, and memorable mountain getaway. The new owners share our love for the home and the surrounding area, and they’re committed to maintaining the same comfort, charm, cleanliness, and fragrance free experience you’ve come to expect. If you already have a confirmed reservation, rest assured that everything will remain the same — everything will continue smoothly. The new owners will be in touch with any updates or introductions soon. We’re deeply grateful for every guest who has stayed, shared stories, and helped us create such wonderful memories here. It’s been our joy to host you, and we’re thrilled to know this special place will continue to bring joy to future guests for years to come. With Heartfelt Gratitude, Michelle and Shannon
Why they chose this property
There's a Peace here that we've never felt before. This place is awe - inspiring. It almost forces you to stop in your tracks every time you look outside. We built Eagle's Nest to give our guests the feeling they were floating on water...and sometimes in clouds. From the Living Room and both Bedrooms there are French Doors that open out onto a 728 sq ft (partially covered) deck that extends out over top of Fontana Lake. From the theatrical morning sunrise to the day's last light, and on a clear night you can see the Milky Way, the show this magical place performs is ever changing and always jaw dropping.
What makes this property unique
We designed and built 'Eagle's Nest' to accommodate anyone. This cabin is wheelchair accessible with a sidewalk and wheelchair ramp. The large master bedroom and master bathroom include enough space to turn a wheelchair within a 5 foot radius. Without much extra time and materials, we've tried to create a thoughtful home, keeping everyone in mind. We call this cabin Eagle's Nest because Bald Eagles are always near by the cabin. They can be seen flying close to the cabin's deck, playing in the air at eye level, and even diving into the lake after a fish. This year (2025) we witnessed the eagles building a nest on the Hickory Flats Peninsula. This is the closest part of the park projecting out into the lake. Now you can see them year round coming and going from this peninsula! This is an unforgettable experience.
