About this property
Classic Maine Coastline Estate
Tucked away off a private sandy road, you'll find our classic country estate, ensconced in five wooded acres with expansive views of the Kennebec River, leading to the Atlantic Ocean and our rugged coastline. Our property boasts capacity for 14 guests who will enjoy our saltwater swimming pool, jacuzzi, two chef's kitchens, an elegant yoga shala, an elevator, a screened porch and abundant decks, and a fieldstone fire pit in the woods. Welcome to our quiet haven in Maine, the way life should be.
Our elegant compound features direct access and dock space on the Kennebec River, just ten minutes from the Atlantic Ocean at Popham Beach. Adirondack chairs line our spacious decks and balconies. Our spaces evoke the best of Maine: stately coastal elements reminiscent of the sea, and cozy, rustic spaces reminiscent of the quiet Maine woods. For additional fees, various services ranging from massage to reiki to private yoga instruction are available on site.
The property consists of the Maine House, with four spacious bedrooms with water views, four full bathrooms (including a large jetted soaking tub), an elevator, a chef's kitchen and dining room, elegant living room, large library, three gas fireplaces, wraparound balconies, covered garage, large outdoor pool, jacuzzi, and spacious decks, all overlooking the Kennebec River.
The property also includes the Lodge, a converted barn connected to the Maine House, which smells deliciously of cedar, and includes a full kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom, full bath, and a perch with trundle beds, perfect for children looking for a fun escape into the eaves for a night of giggling and ghost stories.
Finally, the property includes the Bunkhouse, a two-story structure just a stone's throw from the Maine House, with two sets of wooden bunkbeds on the first floor and a master bedroom on the second floor, as well as a full bathroom and a cozy stove to warm the space.
The entire estate has unobstructed views and access to the water, where a dock and sand bar offer ample opportunities for clamming and boating.
The location could not be better: 2.5 hours from Boston, 45 minutes from Portland, 20 minutes from Bowdoin College's beautiful campus in Brunswick, and 10 minutes from historic Bath. The property is hidden away with just a few other homes in close proximity, making you feel miles away from everything.
We are glad to be a dog-friendly property for an additional fee.

About the host
Hosted by JennyBess
We are longtime New Englanders (one corporate-attorney-turned-yogi, one magazine-editor-who-prefers-to-be-cycling, and two miniature goldendoodles named Pamplemousse and Winnie). We spend most of the year living in this property. We have chosen to rent our home for a few weeks each summer so we can head out and find adventure. We split our time between this lovely property and our yoga and mindfulness retreat center located in Kingfield, Maine (Santosha at Hillholm Estate). We hope you'll love our home as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with our property the moment we spotted it on a frigid winter day in January. Its subtle, classic features combined with modern amenities lured us in immediately! JB's family started spending time in the lakes region of Maine back in her grandparents' generation; Matt's family has been in the Belgrade Lakes area for four generations. Though we've traveled all over the world, by boat and on foot, we always come home to this peaceful haven. Phippsburg offers the best of both worlds: a sleepy fishing village next to world-class beaches. We know that we'll never leave this place of peace!
What makes this property unique
We never close the blinds: the run rising over the Kennebec wakes us at dawn every morning, no matter the season. Make sure to head down to the river at low tide to try your hand at clamming. Prepare for lobster dinners, fresh off the dock down at Allen's in Harpswell, during evenings on the screened porch! Or better yet, head down to Five Islands Lobster Co. on the opposite peninsula, Georgetown, for the most authentic lobster bake you'll every see.
