Located in Rutledge, this lodge is in a rural area and on a lake. Luverne Golf Club and Greenville Country Club are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Douglas Park and Luverne Park.
Away from the hustle and bustle of big city life, we have come to appreciate the luxuries of nature and the sounds of the wild. As you step away from the city lights you will enjoy the stars with no light pollution. Around the bend of a weathered Alabama Highway on the outskirts of a quaint Southern town, between the break of scrub pines and roadside weeds, an impressive clearing appears, pulling any traveler’s foot from the steady driving force on the gas pedal and demanding that one slow down to take in the site.
This property consists of a 7,400 square foot lodge with a balcony that overlooks a uniquely shaped salt water pool and a 23 acre lake. The lodge is an open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room table that seats ten, and a breakfast nook that seats four. A cozy living room with a flat screen TV over a large wood burning fireplace. The downstairs area consists of a large game room (with a pool table, air hockey, two full size arcade games, two pinball machines and a large screen TV), a full bar, and a poker room.

Tammy was fantastic. She was very responsive and replied back promptly with any questions we had.
The lodge is a very nice place to stay. It had everything we wanted in one location and secluded just to ourselves. Everyone enjoyed fishing, sitting on deck, swimming in the pool and playing games in the game room.
This place just has it all! You won't be disappointed!
We had a great time. There was plenty for us to do. The grounds were beautiful. TAMMY and her family were amazing. Helped us in anyway necessary. Fabulous pool, fishing.
Quiet and relaxing, and in the dark of night you could count the stars. Will be back!
This property was absolutely amazing! We had 10 adults and 8 Kids (ranging from 8-1 years old) and all fit perfectly. The ammenities were perfect for the adults and the kids! The large blackstone flat top grill made cooking breakfast and dinner very easy. The owner brought over a fawn for the kids to see and pet and there were plenty of ducks that the kids liked looking at too. This is the perfect place to gather with family or close friends. I think we just might make this our annual reunion spot.

Can't describe "Lodge on the Lake" any better than Stacy A. (July 2021)!
From the time you see the property from the road, you realize how special this place is!
After 13 years of renting cabins in several different states, this definitely had the most complete combination of activities and ability to relax we have experienced. We actually experienced several periods of rain during our stay, but our 8 grandchildren, ages 3-19, never complained of nothing to do.
To complete the package, Tammy and Mike are wonderful people and incredible host, providing an overall experience our family will never forget.
We are looking forward our return to Lodge on the Lake!
We had a great getaway in Alabama. The peaceful vacation was in a secluded place that had tons to do from swimming, fishing, paddle boating, and a large game room with pool, air hockey and arcade games. The kids didn’t want to leave when the vacation ended. Thanks to Tami and Mike for outstanding hospitality!
From the arrival to check out, this place exceeded all expectations. The house and grounds are so much better than the pictures can capture. The owners absolutely bent over backwards, going above and beyond, to ensure our stay was memorable.
This was the type of trip that young ones will keep with them forever. There was swimming, fishing, paddle boat rides, shooting, deer watching, and the best-equipped game room I've ever had the pleasure of playing in. All five pre-teen to teens left their game consoles at home, and not a word was ever uttered about anyone being bored (a first).
Us adults had the best time too, as the place/property is so expansive you can easily find a quiet spot to re-group when the kid's energy gets overwhelming.
The kitchen is beyond fully-equipped, with Viking appliances, multiple fridge/freezers to accommodate a weeks worth of food, and just about every tool you can imagine (I left my deli slicer at home, and lo and behold, I open a cabinet to discover there's already one there). We made some amazing meals, and only went out one time for Pizza on our first night there due to exhaustion (FYI, Squared Circle Pizzeria is only 15 minutes away, and is highly recommended!).
The beds are perfectly comfy with nice quality sheets (my brother wanted to strip the bed down to find out what brand it was, so he can get one for home, lol). But, you won't want to spend a lot of time there, as there's just too many other fun things to do.
The only downside to the whole trip was when we had to leave. My family is already thinking ahead to our next trip to Double J's, with eager anticipation.
