Built in the 1880s and lovingly remodeled in recent years, this home maintains its original charm in its beautiful wood plank floors, exposed ceiling beams, and inviting country kitchen, yet it has also been updated with such modern amenities as free WiFi and a flatscreen TV with cable service.
Here on the edge of the tidal Bagaduce River, you'll spend your days exploring the serene beauty of the Blue Hill Peninsula, taking easy day trips to Acadia National Park and Deer Isle, and coming home to a private deck, a stone firepit for evening s'mores and stories, and a gorgeous stretch of private, west-facing shoreline where you can take in unforgettable sunsets. A private gas grill is perfect for summertime cookouts.

We loved our stay at this property. The house was beautiful with great amenities. The highlight was a camp fire by the water during sunset and star gazing later that evening. We would stay there again!
This old house has everything you need to have a relaxing and peaceful stay. The shy to the wate is a bit of a hike, but worth it for a spectacular view.

Farmhouse on the Cove
Beautiful area. My kids are local so this was a great location.
I was surprised it was close to the road but Penobscot quiets down about 8pm so road noise was not an issue. It was a lovely house to stay in.Very comfortable. Easy to get from there to Castine, Blue Hill, Deer Isle. The walk down to the beach is lovely and the views across the Bay are always interesting as the tide comes in and out.

Visiting for the Eclipse
This place was perfect for our weeklong stay in scenic Downeast Maine. We came to watch the 2024 eclipse, but wanted to spend the rest of the week exploring, and this location in Penobscot provided the perfect launching pad for those explorations.

Beautiful home in a quiet setting
We loved the home and the property was gorgeous. We arrived just in time to watch a beautiful sunset over the water. It was a bit of a hike down the path, but totally worth it! We appreciated all the amenities and wanted for nothing. Even my young adult girls loved the shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the showers. That’s saying something! Thank you for a relaxing stay.

Best part of the stay.
Loved staying in this house. House is charming and beautiful. Enjoyed spending some outdoor time by the water. Home is somewhat secluded which we enjoyed. If you like to be close to everything, this isn’t the house for you. If you like peace and quiet, however, it’s perfect. The house was the best part of our trip to Maine. The weather was not so cooperative.
The listing was accurate, and the house is very comfortable. I really appreciated how well stocked it was, and this was one of the few times we rented a place and did not need to go out to replenish basic household supplies. My favorite part of the trip was sitting around a camp fire by the bay. So beautiful!
Nice property. Outlets in kitchen did not work. Need to tell renters to pull on outside door to get the lock to work with the code. I called when we couldn’t get in and found that out.
We had a great three night stay. The house is well equipped and comfortable. The main road is busy, but the backyard is private and large. We were able to take advantage of the picnic area with fire pit, which is at the end of a woodsy path.
Acadia is a bit of a drive, but there are are also plenty of things to do closer by.
The beds are very comfortable. It would be nice to have night stands and reading lamps on both sides of the queen and king beds.
I recommend this house for family getaways.

Location was good
Location was good. Bedroom is clean and relaxing. Trash is not properly managed. Bathroom door has no locks. The outdoor area should be bit proper to make it clean. Property is good to stay just need some improvement
We stayed at the farmhouse for a four day family hiking trip. It was clean, with a well stocked kitchen and nice quality, yet comfortable furniture. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The only downside was the light coming in the windows at 5am due to very shear or no curtains. We really enjoyed watching the sunset at the far end of the property near the water. It was very quiet and peaceful. We used the grill once, and it was in good condition. A nice touch was that the owners provided a very helpful notebook full of maps and restaurant suggestions. We enjoyed our stay!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
lake/riverfront would be more accurate
The house is well decorated and clean. It is a preserved historical artifact. It is about 45 min away from Acadia.
This is not a beach, there is no sand. There is mud and bugs. bring insect repellant. not as many amenities for babies, but great for kids and toddlers, just be careful with where they walk. very quiet solitude, nice grill and backyard, great for a family gathering. but far from stores/shopping.

Perfect for a downeast Maine get-away
Home is off the beaten path and if you plan to do several trips to Bar Harbor / Acadia, it is a bit of a drive... however, if you are going to Castine, Acadia, Camden, etc, it is a great older home that has been shown lots of extra care and attention.
Everything you need for a stay, and plenty comfortable.
We even got to see a fox and a large cat (bob-cat maybe), out and around the property.
The house was an awesome home base for us on our adventures! Thanks again.

Farmhouse on the Cove June 2022
The house was beautifully restored and maintained. The Bagaduce River access at the bottom of the property was a lovely peaceful spot. The Blue Hill peninsula was a great alternative to Mt Desert Island with no lines at activities, plenty of places to walk and park and see the seashore.
