Lake Murray Family Retreat is a modest & cozy 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home on an acre lot on Lake Murray, Chapin, SC with BIG views. We put a lot of thought into furnishing this home and had families in mind with each detail. It isn`t the most updated or fanciest home on the lake, but it`s one of the homiest!

This 1,355 SF house has a large family room with big lake views and a dining room perfect for spending time with your group. The kitchen has peninsula bar seating for four and includes all major and small appliances.
The primary bedroom suite has a queen size bed, TV, walk-in closet, full ensuite bathroom, laundry closet, and exterior access. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and the third has a twin bunk + a twin trundle.
The house is done in a self-proclaimed `coastal lakehouse modern style` with loads of cozy furnishings, upholstery, pillows, linens, and a mix of natural textiles - think wicker, rattan, wood and glass. Various warm grays, soft neutrals and hues of blue give this house a homey feel the moment you enter.
There are various options for outdoor seating and entertaining as well, including a charcoal grill, reclaimed wood Adirondack style chairs at the outdoor lakeside firepit, an outdoor sectional with cushions and pillows on the patio with two oversized lounge chairs, and a reclaimed wood outdoor picnic table made by a local artisan. Don`t forget the Pirate Ship themed playground for the children or young at heart!
The large paved driveway has plenty of parking for cars, trucks, campers or boat trailers. A public boat launch is located about 10 minutes away at the Hilton Recreation Area (Maps).
The depth at the dock is only a few feet deep, so pontoons or smaller boats are best for dock parking. If you are traveling between October and April the water depth will be 8` less due to seasonal lowering of Lake Murray water levels controlled by Dominion Energy (formerly SCE&G).

Please note that if your stay is longer than 3 weeks, you will be required to pay an additional cleaning fee. This will be sent through a money request.
The bunk room and master bedroom are connected. Please note the floor plan diagram in the listing for this detail. You may access the master bedroom at any time from the exterior of the house if children or little ones are sleeping in the bunk room.
We are very close to the water and on a wooded lot, expect to see wildlife including bugs, lizards, birds, turtles, raccoons, squirrels, and the occasional deer. Regular pest treatments are done both inside and out but it is very easy for pests to slip into the house if doors or windows are left open.
There are security cameras that are actively recording at the exterior of the property only. One camera is at the exterior entry door light to the kitchen. The second camera is attached to the floodlight over the outdoor awning at the rear and captures part of the rear yard and dock area.
STR PERMIT # 2500835 The maximum occupancy that is shown in the listing includes any and all visitors that will be at the home. Over-occupancy or unauthorized events will result in IMMEDIATE eviction without refund. Any guest who refuses to vacate when instructed will be treated as a trespasser.
No parties, events, or gatherings over the listed occupancy are allowed under any circumstances. Bookings made under false pretenses will be denied access with no refund.
You must be 25 years of age or older in order to book one of our homes.
While we ask a series of screening questions to all guests, local guests are subject to additional screening steps, including a phone call. We reserve the right to cancel any guest reservations at our discretion.
Quiet hours are from 10PM until 8AM every day of the week. We have zero tolerance for noise complaints and multiple violations will result in immediate eviction without refund.
No smoking or vaping inside of the home under any circumstances. You will incur an additional fee of $500 if you smoke within the home + the cost of any damages. If you smoke outdoors you must dispose of any debris safely, do not discard anything in the yard or patio.
No illegal substances or activities on the premises.
Pets must be approved in advance. We charge a pet fee for up to 2 pets at all of our pet friendly locations. If there is evidence of any undisclosed pets in the home (pet friendly or non-pet friendly), you will be charged for cleaning + any additional damages.
If the property is left in an unusually dirty condition that requires deep cleaning beyond our standard turnover, an additional fee will be charged to cover the extra housekeeping costs.
Early check in and late check out for up to 2 hours is available per calendar availability, at an additional cost. This must be requested through your boarding pass, and we will approve / decline after reviewing our cleaning schedule.
Do not tamper with smoke detectors, security devices, or Wi-Fi equipment.
If personal items are left behind a fee of $25 + shipping costs will be charged back to you.

Location was great, dock was very nice. we had issues with leaking in the house when it was raining. The hood over the stove leaked and it was leaking in the master bedroom, we woke up, and the carpet was soaking wet.
This property was perfect for our family. The view from the dock alone is priceless. Our 8 y/o enjoyed the pirate ship playground, and our whole family loved swimming, fishing and kayaking off the dock. Rooms were nice with comfy beds, and the bathrooms were spacious. Kitchen appliances were a bit dated, but fine for simple cooking. In the evenings, we enjoyed watching movies in the living room with unobstructed views of the lake. Very convenient to Chapin restaurants. We didn’t want to leave, but will definitely be back soon! Thank you for sharing this lovely home!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Every morning we were able to sit and enjoy the picturesque view of the lake with our coffee. The neighborhood was quiet, yet convenient to everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and the two baths were spacious. We cannot say enough positive things about our hosts who communicated and were super helpful. Totally looking at staying at this property again!
I can't express how perfect this place is. The view is magical. I went for alone "mommy" time but this home is equally perfect for a family trip or even a girls weekend. I travel often and I've never stayed in a place set up this well. They thought of EVERYTHING, I mean everything.
The location tucked away but yet close to restaurants, groceries and sights to see.

Great Location- Some Issues
A+ location and place
Received a call driving 16 hours from MA to ask if I knew when I’d arrive. I said, isn’t check in at 4? They stated yes but were wondering what time you’d be in. I confirmed 4:00- arrived at 4:00 and found the house was still being cleaned. We unpacked in the driveway and waited in the yard. Cleaning staff let us know the dryer was broken. When my husband called about the check in issue and broken dryer, the manager stated, “We can talk about canceling”. Where were we supposed to go?!
The pots and pans were scratched and some not so clean.
Bunk beds were uncomfortable and creaky- kids slept on couches.
Sink was clogged in main bathroom and Drano and maintenance couldn’t fix-plumber came and fixed it.
Dryer- maintenance man was told by property management not to go in while we were out on boat rental even though we ok’d his coming to fix. When he did the next day, he had to order parts so I messaged should have a back up like a drying rack which they delivered outside the door. No one knocked to alert that it was there so 2 people home didn’t know it was there to use until husband and I found it outside when arrived home from dinner.
Communication was heavily reliant on my continued checking of VRBO messages which caused a lot of confusion and delays in dealing with issues. Better to call renters.
Love the property but next time not going with this company
We were there with a family of 7 and enjoyed our stay. The house was exactly as described and the owners were great with their communication. None of us wanted to leave! We would highly recommend.
We had the best spring break at your property! The play set was an added bonus for our children! Property was clean and roomy! We can not wait to stay again!
The property was exactly like it was listed, plenty of property for kids to play. We enjoyed the fishing, the dock was great. We had everything we needed.
Wonderful stay! Amazing water view, nice dock, lots of privacy. Although water temps were still chilly in March for swimming, kids were still able to play in the water from shore. We rented a boat one day and enjoyed beautiful views from the lake.
Very nice lake house, well equipped and supplied. Kitchen appliances, stove and refrigerator, need to be replaced. Enjoyed our stay, outside furnishing excellent, children enjoyed the pirate ship. Will be renting this property again!
First girls trip planned seeking some R & R. The Lake view was breathtaking, and the property was beautiful. We were closed to Columbia and Lexington, where we found great food and shopping.
Nice home with great view of the lake. The home met our expectations and our grands loved the yard, dock and lake. Perfect home for generational vacation. Grandparents in one room, parents another and kids in between. Lovely with responsive and caring owners.
We had an amazing weekend. We stayed here with our 2 small kids. The place looked exactly like the pictures advertised, it was clean, the beds were comfy, and the view was worth every penny! We brought our boat and had no problems with the landing which is only 10min away or docking.

What makes this property unique
This house is on an acre and has 320 feet of lake frontage (!) and a private dock. The large driveway is great for parking vehicles, RVs and boats. The gorgeous landscaping and vegetation make the house feel secluded, peaceful and private. You will NOT see any neighbors looking out the windows or while in the yard, it's wonderful! There is a firepit with Adirondack style chairs near the lake, a patio adjacent to the Family Room with an outdoor sectional and lounge chairs, a reclaimed wood picnic table built by a local artisan and a really fun pirate ship themed playset with swings, plank, slide, and fireman's pole.
This is not the most updated house but it is one of the homiest! We took extra time picking out furniture, décor, and items that will make you feel right at home the moment you enter the house. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware, pots and pans, a toaster oven, coffee maker, grinder, blender, microwave, electric kettle, slow cooker, waffle iron, and stand mixer. We tried to think of everything when it came to the kitchen but are open to any additional suggestions, we are always trying to improve!
