Good Mariott resort
This is a Mariott Vacation Club property. I found out that it is a newer-ish property, built aroud 2008. It was clean and tastefully appointed, and they enforce Covid safety measures. All staff that we encountered were friendly and accomodating.
The room was spacious for a family of 4. There were 2 balconies - one off the second bedroom, and a slightly larger one with dual entry points at the main bedroom and living room. I'm pretty sure all the 2-bedroom villas are decorated the same. I wasn't peeping, but it's hard to not notice the same artwork on walls at nightime when other units in other buildings don't have their drapes shut. We wish the kitchen had more variety of prep tools and items like plastic wrap or foil - but we concede that those items are probably not found in a large-scale hotel-managed property, unlike the individually-owned homes that we usually rent.
This unit was a low floor with views of the pool, beach, and the roof and AC units of the fitness center/eatery/pool.
The beach is rocky on both ends to ensure privacy and has a pier that docks the VI Cat, which takes you out for snorkeling or for dinner. There is a hut on the pool deck to book those events, or nightime kayaking.
The pool has a slide that shockingly did not bore my kids even after going down it a hundred times.
This is definetly not a party resort. There is not a bar. There is counter-service to order food and drinks. Not sure if it was due to Covid, but there is not a waiter making the rounds for drink orders on the pool deck or beach. I was dissapointed about was the restaurant. The food was not bad, but the ambiance was non-existent. It's just patio tables next to the pool deck and store entrance. It's fine and convenient for lunch. Go to the counter to place your order.
But for dinner, there is no music, and the tables are not set. The tables are just scattered about, and I just like a more pronounced restaurant feel. There is a waiter serving the tables at dinner time, though.
In-town boutiques come and set up their goods near the pool deck. There is music on the pool deck, and bingo, yoga, and pool aerobics.
