About this property

Historic, Cozy, prime location with amazing pool and garden in Historic Seaport

Looking for a little piece of Key West Paradise? Well, this is it! This stunning cottage is only steps away from the Historic Seaport and Old Town. The home has gorgeous Dade County Pine which flows throughout the house, opening into a spectacular private pool and garden. There are two bedrooms on the second floor and a third bunk room ideal for the little ones--or adults little ones too--on the first floor. There is one bathroom with shower on second floor and an additional bathroom with shower on the first floor. If you want the true tropical experience, there is a private outdoor shower as well! The pool measures an impressive 10x20 feet and can be kept comfortably at 88 degrees.

If you are a frequent visitor to Key West, you have surely driven or walked by 923 Eaton Street. 921 and 923 Eaton are the two side-by-side gems that rival the famous "Painted Ladies" of San Francisco. Although not as elaborate, the Key West Ladies speak to the simplicity of design that characterizes many of the houses in the Old Town area. In the book “The Houses of Key West”, Alex Caemmerer wrote "What particularly impressed me at that time, although many of these houses were small and owned by people of modest means - mostly local workers, they had a simplicity of line and an aura of elegance and dignity which had the same effect on one as does, for instance, a simple Bach tune."

The house is always comfortable as it is controlled by 5 individual, ductless A/C units-- one in each bed room, living room and kitchen/dining. Also, there are new hardwood floors installed in both upstairs bedrooms in December 2017 and updated bedroom furniture (two king beds).

Location, location, location… the house is located only two blocks from Historic Seaport and five blocks from Duval Street. You can really walk any where in Key West. There is a good amount of street parking available. However, if you prefer, the Key West public parking garage is only one block away (currently $200 +tax/month). You will be able to treat yourself to freshly baked goods every day as the Old Town Bakery is right across the street. Yum! Also, there are many great restaurants within a block of the house (Azur, Bien Caribbean, The Dirty Pig, Onlywood, Dates & Thyme… to name a few).

Amenities: 10x20 feet heated swimming pool set in private backyard with lush, tropical landscaping. Cable TV, a/c, internet, washer/dryer, linens and towels provided. Kitchen is fully equipped.

Location is very noisy, no parking, some air conditioners not working, property manager not responsive. I am 6’4” hit my head numerous times in bedroom and bath.

Great location, everything is easily walkable.
We had a fun and relaxing stay at the Monkey Inn. The location is ideal. We walked everywhere we wanted to go. The backyard and pool area is a nice tranquil spot to relax. The house was stocked with all the amenities we needed. The traffic on Eaton can get pretty loud, however we noticed it really died down by 9-10:00 p.m. The only negative would be the parking situation, which is a common issue in Key West. We ended up parking in a public garage a block behind the house and had to pay a daily rate. Other than that issue, we really enjoyed our stay!

Close to wharf
We had a nice time. House was clean, pool area landscaping was beautiful. They have everything you need to enjoy a trip to the beach including beach chairs and floats. The grill worked great and the outdoor seating area was a great place to enjoy a drink at the end of the day and chat with friends and family. The pool was a little cloudy and cool during our stay, but the owner was prompt in having the pool service come out and treat it. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms upstairs were roomy. One of the upstairs bedroom faces a rather busy street and as a result was noisy overnight when we were sleeping. Individual AC units throughout the house kept us cool and comfortable. Overall it was a nice stay.

Excellent stay
Kitchen was very well appointed, everything we needed. Stunning pool and back yard. Walking distance to pretty much everything in Key West. Bakery across the street has the best key lime pies. 1/2 a block from a great bike rental store.

I feel in love Key West the first time I slept foot on the island back in April 1993. Was the party I was looking for at the time, but now it's the retirement away from all the news and headaches that come along with everyday life.

Why they chose this property

I love this locations its one of the greatest on the island. The house has wonderful historical charm with the beautiful Dade County Pine. The amazing pool and the private backyard provide a little tropical oasis getaway in Old Town Key West.

What makes this property unique

Huge pool. Ideal location. True, Key West style and charm.
