Perfect stay in a lovely one bedroom in a wonderful Bishop neighborhood
This a terrific one-bedroom unit/duplex with a separate and private entrance and a nice outdoor seating area. The unit is clean and well-appointed, with all necessary amenities. It is located in a lovely residential neighborhood in west Bishop, close to shops and restaurants on the main street. My daughter stayed for 5 weeks while working for Inyo County. She loved her stay and was sad to leave. The owners are very nice as is the resident of the other unit. They were very responsive to all questions. We would stay there again! Recommend it without hesitation.
Staying at this place will not disappoint! It’s small but very cozy, perfect for a traveling couple, small family or individual. I stayed with 2 young children and the owners went the extra mile by providing a couple extra child friendly items that were not expected, such as a booster seat and step stools. Everything was clean and I was restocked with essential toiletries and clean linens as needed. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to prepare a hearty meal at the end of your adventure. Communication with the owners was thorough and friendly. The neighborhood is very quiet, I enjoyed hearing the mooing cows at the end of the street while I sipped my morning coffee in the private fenced yard. Great place to relax after a day in the elements.
The Property
This property is the perfect place to stay if you are traveling single or a couple. I stayed with my college aged son. It was a little cramped for us. However, that is totally on me. The owners told me this would be the case. So this is completely in me. He and I had a great time anyway.
The Owners
The owners, Lisa and Andy, were equally awesome. They responded quickly whenever I had a question but they were not intrusive at all. They were the perfect hosts.
The Neighborhood
The neighborhood is residential bordering on rural. Cows grazed in a field a few yards down the street as the Sierra Nevadas stood above them. If you are looking for a quiet residential neighborhood this is it.
Bishop
Bishop is quintessential small town America. It has everything you need. I kind of liked that there were no big box stores, like Walmart. You may not. But it makes up for it by having a spectacular backyard to play in. By this I mean the Sierra Nevadas.
I'm considering going back next summer (2024) because I did not accomplish my goal, climbing Mt Whitney. Also because I really enjoyed my time there. Hopefully, Lisa and Andy will have me back.
This place is a gem! It's a perfect size for one person, and has all the amenities you could want – a full kitchen, plenty of linens, storage, and a lovely fully fenced yard. It was clean and well-lit.
For remote-workers: I worked full-time from this place, and it was great. The workstation at the end of the hall was a little dark for my tastes, so I ended up using the table in the main room as my desk, which worked well. It's worth noting that the wifi is spotty sometimes, and I had to tether to my phone periodically. The hosts were extremely responsive when I had internet issues, and had technicians come out. The problem was never fully fixed, but I think it's a function of a smaller town, and not the host's fault. It's totally workable, and for the most part I didn't have a problem.
The neighborhood is quiet with an amazing view of the Sierra right down the street. It's quite private, but the hosts are readily available and friendly if you need anything.
I absolutely loved staying here and would happily return!
