The upstairs shower is modern with a glass door. A pontoon boat with room for 10 and a grill on the patio. There is AC in the living area and a beautiful gas heating fireplace with touch pad controls, the bedrooms all have screened windows to let in the cool night air and two 72” ceiling fans in the great room will keep the air moving. Kayaks, paddle board are included. New carpeting and new bathroom flooring has been installed. We hope you like what we’ve done to make your stay the best it can be!

Anthony thank you so much for your 5 STAR REVIEW!! We have made many improvements to the cottage this year, a new kitchen, with granite countertops and new stainless appliances. We also updated the main floor bathroom with a new shower and vanity. We are so glad your group enjoyed the place. You are welcome back anytime. We also get to rate our guests and your group was 5 stars all the way!!
All the best,
Ed and Julie Sherman
First time up north. The large property was perfect for our group. Centrally located to enjoy activities away from the property. The lake, beach and boat made it a fun week for our family.

Thank you so much for your review. We have worked hard to make our rustic cabin a 5 star experience for our guests. We fell in love with the place the second we walked in the door and saw the lake. We want our guests to experience the majestic beauty of the lake. We have made so many improvements this year with the gas fireplace, AC in the living area and so much more. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again next summer.
This is a very nice cottage with that Up North feel and lots of bedrooms. Duck Lake is great for swimming and fishing. Having the pontoon was an added benefit. Cottage is conveniently located with Tom’s Grocery just down the road. We had a great time.

Thank you for the 10/10 review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the true “Up North” feel of the cottage and that the extra bedrooms worked well for your group. It’s great to hear you had fun swimming and fishing on Duck Lake and that having the pontoon added to your experience. We’re also happy the convenient location near Tom’s Grocery made things even easier. Thank you for staying with us—we’d love to welcome you back again!
Location was nice and easy to access. Boat complimenting the stay was great add on. Plenty of space and cozy. No washer/dryer so keep that in mind. Would stay again.
Great location for a relaxing summer lake retreat for extended family. Rustic setting and beautiful lake view and access. Lots of room for group to spend time together in family room, deck, and patio, multiple sleeping rooms. Kitchen and bathrooms small but functional.
We had a great weekend at this cottage! It is a beautiful view over the lake, and comfortably slept two families with five kids age 6-14. Short drive to Traverse City, even shorter into Interlochen for restaurants, ice cream, and groceries. Quiet neighborhood. We will definitely be back!
Very fun cabin/house with superb lake views, plenty of bedrooms for the whole clan, and lots of fun lake toys including a fabulous pontoon boat! Ed was very responsive and helpful.

Thank you so much for staying at Winnipesaukee cottage. We fell in love with the view of the turquoise blue water the second we walked in the door, we are glad you felt the same way. Duck Lake is absolutely amazing and it’s why we purchased a pontoon boat for our guests so that they could get out on the water and take in all the beauty. With 7 bedrooms there is room for everybody. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Had a wonderful time at this cabin. Highly recommend to other family members and friends. Look forward to booking this place in the future. Had many kitchen items for cooking. Pontoon boat was new and a great addition to our stay. Communication with owner was phenomenal.
This cottage on Duck Lake was the perfect place for family to gather to relax before our daughter's graduation from IAA (located only minutes from the school) and celebrate after! Lots of great indoor and outdoor spaces at this beautiful lakeside location gave us room to eat meals and play games at times and then spread out for some solitude later. Lots of amenities and super responsive hosts made this a wonderful experience!
Great location. Views of the lake were beautiful especially sunrise. Saw the northern lights last night. What a display! Fire pit was a great place to tell family stories about our lives and adventures. Made memories this weekend. Could not be any more happier Thanks for the memories.
I rented the house with a group of co-workers as a couple day get away from work. The place was perfect for the group. With it being almost October, we didn’t know what to expect weather wise. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the ability to take the pontoon boat on the lake made for a great time. The place was clean upon arrival and provided a very comfortable setting for everyone to relax. Check in and check out was easy and the owners replied promptly and were accommodating. I would certainly recommend this place to others.

The lake set up is beautiful. Loved how you can start walking ankle high to deeper water!! The boat was a great must have for the lake too.
We did have an issue during check-in, but Ed took full ownership, and he took care of it.. We are very happy.

So much space and so clean. The lake offered crystal clear water and so much fun lake equipment!!! The pontoon is so clean and the convenience of having it already at the house is so easy and relaxing! Will definitely book again!
Got to the area early and the host let us check in early!

Thank you so much for the amazing 10/10 review! We’re thrilled to hear you found the cabin cozy, clean, and perfectly equipped for your stay. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the crystal-clear lake, all the lake toys, and the convenience of having the pontoon right at the house—that easy, relaxing lake time is exactly what we hope guests experience.
We’re also glad we could accommodate an early check-in and help get your vacation started sooner. Thank you for the kind words and for choosing our home—we can’t wait to welcome you back again for another perfect stay on the lake!
Perfect vacation for our family. It was close enough to Traverse City & Sleeping bear dunes to still fit outings in while still enjoying the fishing, boating, swimming, bonfires and family dinners at the cottage! The house has everything you need, comfortable beds, full kitchen, games for kids, sand toys, floats, kayaks, paddle board, gas & charcoal grill, ac, and a gas fireplace for the 'up north' cool nights. The host was prompt on communication- we stumbled into a beehive outside in the shed and he had someone out to fix it within a few hours. The boat was such a nice addition and that was what sold us on booking- we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation to the cottage!
Very nice experience, nicely located on a non overloaded lake, with a small town 3 minutes up the road for any of your needs. The house is older with lots of wood. With that being said, there are allot of squeaks as you walk on the second level where bedrooms are. There is definitely no sneaking around in the middle of the night, as everyone will indeed hear you. This is not a negative, but merely adds to the charm of the house.

Thank you for staying! We are glad you enjoyed your stay in our rustic cottage. Built in 1939 originally as a hotel it was converted into a private cottage in 1949 and owned by the same family until 2018. Our friends bought it and we went to visit, we loved it so much we purchased it from them in 2020. The old creaky floors, fieldstone fireplace and the incredible view of the lake made us fall in love with it immediately. Being a seasonal cottage with no insulation, and rustic charm allows us to get that up north feeling, away from it all and a place to just relax. We wanted to share the same experience with others and this is why we decided to open it up to guests from all over. A place close enough to modern amenities and city life but rustic enough to enjoy a true Michigan Up North Summer like no other. Thank you again for choosing Winnipesaukee Cottage on Duck Lake for your visit.
We booked this cabin last minute right before our 8 year old started 2nd grade and we are so glad we did! Everything was the way it was described and the communication back and forth was great. The cabin has a rustic/modern feel to it, which is what we like when it comes to a lake cabin! All the bedrooms are so cute and clean and they have everything you need for your stay. We absolutely loved the new pontoon boat, it was so nice and comfortable (and relaxing)! Our 5 year old enjoyed the kayaks and the paddle boards early in the morning with my husband and all the kids enjoyed the sandy beach by the dock to build castles and play in it. Needless to say it was great quality time for our little family before the busy school year starts! We really enjoyed exploring Michigan too! We will definitely be back :)

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Our vision when we bought this property was exactly as you described your stay. Relaxing, cozy, and a place to make lasting memories. We welcome your family back anytime.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! Just book it you wont regret it!
We stayed as a group for wine tasting in Traverse City area. The location was perfect. The cottage is right on beautiful Duck Lake. We were able to enjoy mornings sipping hot coffee, watching the majestic sunrise over the lake from the cozy sunroom. We spent some time on the pontoon boat exploring the lake and watching the many loons. The cottage had ample sleeping areas, everyone had their own room and bed, the beds were SO comfortable. We had plenty of room to cook meals and the kitchen was VERY well stocked, we appreciated the many spices and supplies we didn't have to buy. The evenings were spent sitting in front of the gas fireplace, drinking the wine we purchased from the vineyards. We all agreed that this was the best place we've stayed at and have already booked again for next year. Thank you again for sharing your incredible cottage with us.
