Private River Cabin with Awesome Frio River access in Private, Gated Cypress Bend. Known as Comanche Crossing, this particular river crossing is arguably the best floating spot on the Frio River in Concan.

What makes River Recess so popular is the location. Your only short 3 minute walk to the Frio River! This rustic cabin also sits at the end of the road and less than 100 yards from the Frio River in gated, private Cypress Bend, with beautiful riverfront access. Enjoy swimming, fishing, bird watching and photography along the Frio River.

Upon arrival your family will be excited once they how close they are to the Frio River. That end of the river is very quiet and exceptionally pretty.

Under majestic oak trees, riverfront and mountain views, makes this home very serene. The circular driveway and long front porch invite you indoors, but why? River Recess makes it easy for family and friends to head down to the river and enjoy a full day of floating fun!

Inside you'll find new 2024 soft goods throughout the cabin. The living has vaulted ceiling, rock fireplace, open cedar staircase and saltillo tile floors. There's a smart tv, wifi, new sofa slipcovers and pretty wool rug.

Cute kitchen with what y'all will need to make meals. The master bedroom is downstairs, has a queen bed with new bedding and an ensuite bathroom. Bedroom 2 has one queen bed with new bedding and an adjacent hallway bathroom. Upstairs under the vaulted ceiling is one large loft with (4) full beds, (1) twin bed and all new matching bedding.

There is a horseshoe pit, barbecue and fire pit, with relaxing rock patio. Big herds of deer feed on the property for everyone to watch. This neighborhood is great for tubing the Frio, but also safe for young kids to walk, bike and hike. A great place for those who want to Float and walk to their cabin. Just a few minutes drive to the House Pasture for food, live music & dancing.

Sheets and towels are not provided, but can be added for an additional fee if ordered 2 weeks prior to arrival. Free Wifi now available.

Great place, great location, outstanding host

We had not been to Concan in since my youngest teenager was just a kid and we had never stayed in this part of the river. Definitely very lively and fun. The whole family fell in love with the place and look forward to coming back.

Short Frio trip

Decided to make a short trip to the Frio and needed a place for 10 people. We wanted a place close to the river and luckily found River Recess. The listing says rustic and I’d say that is an accurate description. We giggled at the “school themed” decor as 4 of us are educators. Seemed like we were destined to stay here. The house had everything we needed for a 2 night stay and plenty of beds. It definitely served its purpose for us. There isn’t currently WiFi at this house, but they said they have requested it and just waiting to hear back. The Frio Fun staff were so nice and accommodating. We would definitely book again.
