Grey Wolf Cabin is located on 1.3 wooded acres, and backs onto the Absaroka Wilderness. Its location is 1/2 mile off the main road leading to Yellowstone, so views in all directions are of pine trees and mountains. The cabin's main floor has a full kitchen, dining room table that seats up to eight guests, and a large comfortable living room with TV, DVD, stereo system, and gas stove. The master bedroom with a queen bed and en suite bathroom are also on the main floor, along with a second guest bathroom and utility room with washer and dryer. The large loft has two queen beds, a reading nook with a couch and game table. Additionally, the loft opens onto a private balcony with beautiful views of forest. What makes this cabin special is the large deck on the south side of the cabin for guests to enjoy. We had a wonderful stay at the Grey Wolf Cabin while visiting Yellowstone National Park! The cabin was exceptionally clean, with a well-stocked kitchen and convenient laundry facilities that made us feel right at home. We especially enjoyed sipping morning coffee on the outdoor deck/covered porch surrounded by pine trees and resting in the comfortable beds each night. The thoughtful addition of multiple luggage racks, temperature controls / safety lighting throughout the cabin was also very much appreciated. We hope to return soon!

Stop your search! We have stayed in the Silver-Gate/Cooke city area 4 times, always with VRBO. This property was by far our favorite stay. Communication with the owner was great when planning for our trip. This cabin was absolutely perfect for us. It was easy to navigate to and just outside the NE entrance to Yellowstone. It is very private and surrounded by beautiful pine trees. We had a friendly red fox come to visit us (no we did not feed him, much to his dismay) and also saw mule deer grazing in the yard. We hiked the Bannock ski trail which was steps from the cabin (bear spray provided by owner) and saw bison. We stayed in the next two days and enjoyed a thunderstorm followed by a wonderful snowfall. We were so warm and cozy at the cabin. When the weather lifted, we visited Lamar Valley and saw pronghorn, black bear, elk and bison. We enjoy YNP in the Fall due to fewer tourists. Make sure to bring food to cook your own meals in if you travel to this area between late September and May, as most diners are closed here during those months. Oh, and our bed was very comfortable!!! Great water pressure in the shower and water as hot as you want it. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook our meals. We also loved the loft area for puzzles and reading. Don’t hesitate to book this beautiful property above the others. You will not be disappointed.

Great cabin in great location!

Took my 82 year old Mom, brother and sister-in-law on an annual trip to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Their mobility was somewhat limited so the cabin was perfectly located for trips across the Chief Joseph Highway and Beartooth Pass. All this besides afternoon and evening animal viewing!

Beautiful Cabin

We would return to this cabin in a minute! It is beautiful and located in a gorgeous location. Very clean. Very comfortable and cozy. We stayed here because we wanted quick and easy access to Lamar Valley in Yellowstone. Cabin is one mile from the NE entrance to Yellowstone. Worked out great for us.

Great place, will be back!!!

This was our third time to Yellowstone. Both prior visits we stayed in the park. Since we love the Lamar Valley area, we opted to stay here outside the park and no regrets at all! The cabin is very clean and in a great location! The owner was very responsive. Highly recommend and we hope to be back here again in the future!!

Nice vacation getaway cabin

This is a very warm cozy home that has obviously taken years to decorate it to what it is now. Very quiet, clean, well kept. No fire pit is the only downfall. Highly recommended

Another amazing stay

Third time was a charm, our 3rd stay over Christmas break and we finally saw wolves. Not once, not twice but three separate times. Definitely the highlight of our week. We love staying at Grey Wolf cabin. It’s secluded in the winter, so much so that we had a moose resting right in the backyard. The cabin is a perfect launching point to explore Yellowstone, don’t miss out seeing it in the winter. It’s just as beautiful as it is in the summer. The cabin is clean, had had everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

Winter Wonderland

We had a wonderful time at the cabin, didn't want to leave and will be back for sure. Christy was very attentive, replied quick to any question. The cabin is much nicer than shown on VRBO's website. The location is also a bit deeper in the woods than VRBO shows on the map. For winter a 4x4 is a must. Great location to explore the Northern Range of Yellowstone from and to relax after a great day in the park. We even saw Moose in the driveway one day.

Comfy cabin

This was our first trip to Yellowstone and this was a nice, comfortable cabin. Many of the other reviews mention this also, the beds are very comfortable. Plenty of space for a family of five. Convenient location to the north east entrance of Yellowstone. We saw a lot of animals in the Lamar Valley - several grizzlies, two wolves, Buffalo, pronghorn, elk, and bald eagles. The cabin is also a five minute drive to get ice cream and souvenirs in Silvergate. We did that one day and they were very friendly and my kids really liked that. We enjoyed the artwork all over the cabin of the yellow stone animals and my kids also really liked the stuffed animals and wild animal toys. It made it feel like home and gave them something to play with. If you want to stay in the north east entrance area, I would recommend this place.

Awesome early season stay

We chose to celebrate my 60th birthday by visiting YNP and staying at this AWESOME property in Silver Gate. How can we describe what a wonderful, perfect space this was for us? First, and I *never* say this: the pictures DO NOT DO JUSTICE to the views out those windows. And we live in the Tetons with a huge Teton view, but this is super special. You’re not just looking at a Mountain View. It’s like you are literally ON the mountain side, just below the summit… the alpenglow is outrageous! Second, the space inside is so accommodating and comfortable with everything you might need. The beds are very comfortable with nice linens, duvets, soft pillows. It’s just a cute, comfortable, homey, nice space in a very private quiet location just minutes from the east entrance into the park. Our routine: wake; coffee & breakfast; pack picnic lunch; jump in car and drive approx 15 minutes to first wildlife view spot; spend rest of the morning watching bears, wolves, bison with babies; set up chairs in beautiful secluded spot with sweeping views of the Lamar for picnic lunch; spend rest of afternoon watching more bears, bison, migrating birds; yawn… let’s go back to house for nap; watch alpenglow on mountain right out the window for cocktail hour; prep easy dinner in well-appointed kitchen; watch one episode of our favorite Netflix show; fall asleep in comfy bed to the lullaby of silent full moon. Next day: repeat. Aaaaaaaahhh… One thing my husband wants to mention: if you do happen to visit this special time of year (early May), plan to bring your own food. There are no restaurants or grocery stores open this time of year, despite what you may read online. Which makes sense because there’s no one in the area, which is why we came! There was one open bar and we bought a frozen pizza at the gas station in Cooke City, but otherwise we relied on what we brought, which was more than fine, but just word to the wise… We hope to return here next year! Thank you hosts!!!

We purchased this cabin in 2018 after we fell in love with wolf watching in Lamar Valley. This is the closest you can stay to the wolves outside of Yellowstone. We often see wildlife from our cabin windows, as there is trail across the back of our property. When we are not at the cabin ourselves, we live in NE Wyoming.

Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique

Our property is 1.7 miles from the NE entrance to Yellowstone, about as close as you can get to Lamar Valley, the Serengetti of North America.
