About this property

Metro PHX 1bedroom Seasonal

Summary:
This listing is for our interior corridor 1-bedroom units. Please be sure to read the entire description. We offer a no-questions-asked refund policy—if you are unhappy with anything during your check-in or stay, we will refund you 100% for any unused nights.

These units feature a true 1-bedroom and a full-size kitchen. The unit can sleep 2-4 guests, with a maximum occupancy of 4. Our 1-bedroom units are typically booked by long-term guests and have experienced high turnover. The furniture is less than 5 years old but shows signs of wear. These units are popular due to the full-size kitchen and spacious layout. Common complaints include noise and odors from neighbors, the proximity to the freeway, occasional pests (ants during summer), and lock batteries needing replacement. The carpet is aging and may have stains. We are transitioning to hard flooring, but your assigned unit will most likely have carpet. Guests can expect varying levels of deferred maintenance. The photos are representative of the unit, but it should not be expected to resemble a perfectly renovated luxury hotel. That said, the unit will be comfortable and safe, with everything you need for a long-term stay. We are responsive, and our team is available to assist you with any issues during your stay.

Welcome to Metro PHX: We specialize in all-inclusive living. Our units, converted from a former 4-star Marriott Residence Inn, have been remodeled with features such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, commercial-grade carpet, and designer furnishings. Kitchens are fully stocked, and the living room couch folds into a queen-sized bed. You’ll have access to Cox premium cable and broadband internet. The windows have blackout coverings, and the bathrooms feature modern granite finishes and high-pressure showerheads. Please note, we are not a hotel and do not provide daily maid service or linen/towel service beyond the initial setup. Guests will need to supply their own toilet paper, dishwasher soap, and other items after the initial provisions. There are no in-unit washers and dryers, but a laundry facility is available on site.

Things to Know: We are located in an urban Phoenix setting, and you will experience the typical characteristics of downtown living. This means you may hear freeway noise and see homeless individuals near freeway exits. This location may not be ideal for families. We do have full-time security on-site and have no issues, but if you are sensitive to city environments, this may not be the best option. Our 1-bedroom, no-pet units are located in interior corridors within a building with a coded entrance. You may hear neighbors, doors closing, or noise from upstairs. Although we strictly enforce our non-smoking policy, you may encounter marijuana or cigarette smoke from guests breaking the rules, which is an issue statewide following marijuana legalization. If the smell of smoke bothers you, this may not be the best rental for you. We aim to be fully transparent and to meet expectations.

Amenities: Our property offers unmatched amenities, including a sparkling pool, BBQ area with outdoor tables, a sports court, a gym, business centers, a dog park, and a clubhouse with firepits.

Location: We are centrally located in Phoenix, right off the I-17 freeway, giving you quick access to key destinations like the airport, downtown, Camelback corridor, Tempe, and Scottsdale. Be aware that freeway noise may be noticeable. If you are highly sensitive to sound, you may want to consider other options.

Fine Print:
We accept one pet (maximum 30 lbs), with a second pet allowed in some circumstances (if mature and trained).
We do not provide daily maid or linen service.
Your unit will be cleaned before check-in and after check-out. We do not supply toiletries like shampoo or toothpaste.
We primarily cater to long-term stays of 5+ days, but we also accommodate 2-day stays, which can only be booked within the same week of travel.
Internet speeds vary; while we subscribe to Cox 1GB, we do not guarantee consistent speeds or reimburse for slow internet.
ADA-accessible units are available upon request. Please notify us in advance if you require one.
Check-in is self-service, and you will receive a door code two hours before check-in.
Our location is 8242 N. Black Canyon Highway, Phoenix, AZ.

Guest Access:
We provide 100% automated check-in. If you'd like to see us during your stay, please visit us in the office. Otherwise, your stay will be completely contactless, with a unique code provided for unit access.

The Neighborhood:
Our property is clean and secure, with 99% of our guests reporting fantastic experiences. When we do receive negative feedback, it’s often from guests staying for 3 days or less, larger families, or those with mismatched expectations. We want to be transparent, so here is our best attempt at setting expectations:

The photos of the property were taken in June 2021. While recent, our photographer is talented, and some guests have noted that the photos make the property look better than reality.
Phoenix is experiencing a homeless and housing crisis. You may see homeless individuals at the exits of many iconic locations in the city, including at our location. We do everything we can to manage this, including providing on-site security, but it’s a fact of life in Phoenix, which some out-of-state guests may not appreciate.
We have 168 units, and we are generally fully booked. We screen our guests and enforce strict policies against smoking, drugs, and public alcohol consumption. However, some guests break the rules, and we have had to cancel reservations for this reason.
Our 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units are located in interior corridor spaces, meaning you may hear noise from upstairs neighbors, domestic disturbances, or see trash in hallways. We maintain strict rules to keep everything clean, but some issues can still occur.
The Bottom Line:
If you’re looking for a quiet, off-the-beaten-path bungalow or B&B experience, this is not it. We are clean, modern, affordable, and offer fantastic amenities. Our units are professionally cleaned and sanitized, and we have on-site office staff and maintenance to address any guest needs. We care deeply about our guests, and our overwhelmingly positive feedback reflects that.

Interaction with Guests:
Phone is not the best way to reach us. Please contact us through the booking platform (Airbnb, etc.) or visit us in the office for assistance.

Not a great place to stay!

I most normally read all of the reviews. On this particular property I did not. I should have! We arrived what appeared to be a old hotel which has permanent housing in it along with rental rooms. The unit we stayed in the bathroom door fell off of the hinges the garbage disposal did not work there were cigarette butts as you walked into the building with a very strong smell of marijuana and cigarettes. This is supposed to be a non-smoking accommodation. There were very shady looking people in and on the premises. Mostly quiet, Until early mornings, and by early morning I mean one or two in the morning one most people are trying to sleep the permanent residence were partying you crying babies barking dogs. We informed the landlord of the door falling off of the bathroom they had a worker come out and just remove the door to the bathroom, and it was never replaced. We left the room we were staying in two days early and paid full price somewhere else for accommodations that were much nicer much cleaner and we felt much safer at.
