This two/three bedroom townhouse is situated directly on the scenic tidal marsh with views of the Intercoastal Waterway. The home is newly renovated with a large kitchen with double oven, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, Corian countertops, Jen Air stove, and tile floor.
Pecan hardwood floors cover the entire downstairs living area. The home is an end unit and has its own wood-burning fireplace. A beautiful swimming pool is located on-site for exclusive use by town house owners and guests.
The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, adjacent master bathroom with Jacuzzi and large walk-in shower -- plus a balcony overlooking the marsh. The second bedroom has twin beds, a full private bath, and a walk-in closet. The third bedroom can also be used as a den. It has a queen-sized sofa bed, full bath, plus a private deck.
Two kayaks are available for no additional charge to guests at Walkers Landing -- a few steps from the canals that wind through the tidal marsh out to the Intercoastal Waterway (see photo). Two bicycles are also available to guests for a short, 10 minute ride to the beach.
Omni Amelia Island Plantation is a AAA Four Diamond, full service resort for all ages. Prospective guests should check out the Omni Amelia Island Plantation web site (try Google for the link) for a full description.
In addition to the Plantation, there are many unique activities nearby. These include:
Fort Clinch: A restored Civil War Fort at the north end of the island. There are tours and reenactments as well as hiking trails along the beach and through the hundreds of acres of woods and marshes.
Kingsley Plantation: A restored antebellum plantation just south of the island. Experience what southern living was like for both masters and slaves in the early 19th century.
Cumberland Island: A virtually untouched barrier island located just two miles by boat from Fernandina Beach at the north end of Amelia Island. Today, Cumberland Island is operated by the National Park Service, but for many years was the winter retreat of the Carnegie family. The Greyfield Inn, build by the Carnegies is located on the island, and offers overnight lodging as well as day trips from Fernadina Beach complete with private transportation to and from the Inn, box lunches and complimentary bikes to explore the island.
There are also many seasonal events on Amelia Island including a women's professional tennis tournament at the Plantation (April), a vintage car festival at the Ritz Carlton Hotel (March), the shrimp festival at Fernandina Beach (May), and the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival (June).
Better yet, just relax, walk the beach and enjoy sunsets form the townhouse's large deck.
Renters who plan to stay multiple months are preferred and the rate structure reflects this. A small dog or cat may also be allowed after discussions with the owner. Renters are required to have the home professionally cleaned (about $75 each) twice per month.
