About this property

Newly Renovated "Yellow Door Ranch" on 7 acres sleeps 10

This newly renovated "Yellow Door Ranch" is a ranch style one story house with 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths.

The location is perfect. It is only a mile from the Taconic State Parkway on a barely used dead end road so you feel a part of a nature and far from the hustle and bustle of life. The road ends at a beautiful creek. You can walk down the middle of the unpaved road to play, skim stones, catch crayfish, spot wildlife and generally get muddy doing fun outdoor stuff. You can go from nature and seclusion to the culinary, art and shopping attractions of Hudson in less than 20 minutes. Truly the best of both worlds!

The property is on 7 acres so there is plenty of space to run around and explore the surrounding nature. Walking trails are maintained in the woods along the top of the property and there are lovely views of the Catskill mountains. We have Adirondack chairs on the hilltop where you can enjoy the view whilst breathing the country air.

The layout of the house gives each family (or group) the privacy of their own "wing" with the kitchen/dining/living room area in the middle. On one side there is a room with a queen bed, a single bed and a single bunk. It is a very cute little space perfect for a group of kids or a family with small children (warning kids may fight over who gets this room!). The other is a large room with a vaulted ceiling and a large front window with a seating area and queen bed. There is a bathroom with a shower and double sink as well as a powder room. This side can be entered from the back door which leads into the mudroom and then onto the 2 bedrooms.

The other side of the common area has a bedroom with a king sized bed and ensuite bathroom and the other bedroom has 2 single beds and a full bathroom with a bathtub in the hallway.

The common area is open plan. The living room has a large sectional couch, a 55 inch Smart TV and a wood burning stove. The kitchen has all new appliances and is exceptionally well stocked with everything a chef could need. The dining table is extendable so can seat up to 12 with the leaves added. Patio doors lead from the living area to the large patio. Outside, there is a Weber Gas Grill, charcoal grill, a small smoker and a table for dining alfresco or playing games in the evening. There is also a new washer and dryer in a separate laundry room off of the kitchen which also has a large pantry.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! You can barely be closer to New York and this close to Hudson. The area is great to visit all year round with access to Lake Taghkanic, hikes, farms, wineries, antiques, great restaurants and shopping (Hudson is 20 minutes away and Rhinebeck 25 minutes) as well as skiing (Catamount is 20 minutes away and Butternut is 45 minutes away). The owner lives in the area and can recommend specific "to dos" upon booking.

Spacious country setting
We enjoyed our stay here, and were grateful that we were allowed to bring our dog. There was plenty of room for all, and the property (inside and out) is well maintained. It is evident that there is a great deal of pride in the owners' maintenance and ownership. The kitchen is very well stocked; it is the best we have ever found in a vacation home. The owner (Michelle) was prompt in her responses, and was kind enough to allow three friends from CT to visit us for the day. We all enjoyed an outdoor barbecue, with perfect weather to boot. The extra amenities really made this vacation special!

We were three families renting the property to visit catamount. The house was very cozy and comfortable and more than enough space for our group. Michelle was very responsive and accommodating. Overall, we had a great time!

Wonderful House in great location
Wonderful experience right from the start. Rental process was easy, Michelle (owner) was quick to respond and great with communication. The house was just as listed and very clean. The floor plan has plenty of bedrooms and wonderful kitchen & family room for cooking and hanging out. The location is great. We look forward to a return visit.

Perfect vacation home in a beautiful location
My family wanted to celebrate a few birthdays while “playing” in the snow and spending time outdoors. The ranch was perfect. Close to skiing & snowboarding. Lovely walking trails on the property. Our dog had the time of her life. The kitchen was well equipped, the house is well maintained and check in and out was perfect. Michelle was a great host and communicated with us the entire stay. We had an extended stay, and would happily return!

Rhinebeck Getaway
We are a group of friends that love to knit and spin. We planned our first trip to Rhinebeck to attend the Wool and Sheep festival. The house was a beautiful, short ride to the fairgrounds. The location was very peaceful, full of wildlife. The house had plenty of room for 9 women. The hostess was easy to contact and was very attentive. We would rent this location again

We are a family of 4 plus a dog and 2 cats that live in Brooklyn but have been escaping to our home in Ancram for weekends, summer and holidays for 12 years now. We love this area as it is quiet but easy to get to and close to so many amenities.

Why they chose this property

This house is across the street from our own home and previously owned by other neighbors on the road. When they were ready to sell, we jumped at the opportunity to turn it into a beautiful and functional rental home. We started construction in September of 2019 and finished amidst a pandemic. We are very proud of how it turned out.

What makes this property unique

4 bedrooms separated by a communal kitchen and living space make it great for 1 family and guests or 2 families traveling together. The house is on 7 acres with some beautiful walking trails and adirondack chairs up on a hill with an amazing view of the Catskill Mountains. Although it is not ADA compliant, this ranch style home is great for people with mobility issues as it can be entered without having to climb steps and is 1 story with 1 small step from the mudroom to the kitchen area.
