About this property
Mountain View Cabin Oasis near Smith Rock on Multi-acre Property, Dog-Friendly!
Imagine yourself at a rustic cabin in beautiful Central Oregon for your quiet getaway! This 1,600 sq. ft. 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin sits on 5 private acres, carefully renovated to give you and your family the comforts of home. Perched atop a butte, sweeping unobstructed views of the Cascade Mountain range welcomes you. The cabin's unique hand-scraped logs throughout all the rooms bring about an old charm that seemingly inspires calm and serenity. Lots of natural light brighten the cabin in time for your morning tea or coffee. At quiet times, you can hear the neigh of horses and whistle calls for working dogs to herd sheep. On occasion, you may hear the soft hum of a distant train passing by. Throughout the day, the landscape changes as its cool colors from the blue sky above, green grasslands and cream-colored fields below slowly darken to reveal the reds, pinks and purple of dusk. Sunsets here are so captivating! At night, many constellations appear across the open sky for your star-gazing enjoyment.
Cabin Property
Modern decor and updates compliment the cabin's original cabinetry, log design and wood surfaces. A new sectional couch recently added is just one example! Floorboard squeaks and wood door creaks adds to its rustic charm. Electric baseboards and a large wood pellet stove heats the living space. *A mini-split system now offers heating and air-conditioning in all three bedrooms!* The air purifiers located in the dining area, loft and bedrooms promote an allergy-sensitive environment. A 65" Smart TV offers a great entertainment experience with Starlink as the internet provider. Strong wifi strength 25+ Mbps offers the flexibility to stay connected while on vacation!
Situated atop 30 feet of rim rock and amongst open expanse of rocky ground, please be mindful to the activity of small children and pets while on the property. Neighboring horses, donkeys and sheep are nearby, and wildlife (e.g. deer) can appear in the area on occasion. A stretch of gravel road (about 1/10 of a mile) leads up to the property, in which neighbors closely monitor. The climb to the cabin is steep and paved. Sport utility vehicles are best suited for a more comfortable experience, however other vehicles can certainly make the climb. During the winter months, traction devices/ 4-WD vehicles will be needed during icy conditions.
The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, bakeware, basic cooking oil, spices and cleaning supplies. Beach and bath towels, soft linens and bedding are also provided. The primary bedroom is located upstairs with a queen bed and ensuite shower bathroom. The loft offers an open space for reading, knitting, playing board games and viewing out with a telescope on-site. A bluetooth music player sits snuggly at the corner for your music entertainment!
On the main level, a second bedroom offers a queen bed, while the third bedroom offers two beds as a twin-over-full bunk style. Up to 7 guests allowable, however with this bunk style, 6 adults will be the maximum number accepted. All rooms look out to the North. The hallway on the main leads to a larger bathroom with a tub/ shower combo, hallway closet, a laundry room, kitchen and open living space.
As for the space outside the cabin, an outdoor grill is nestled under a covered porch that opens to the West. Porch swings in both the front and back invite you to sit and relax. Adirondack chairs circle the firepit area; a perfect spot to enjoy the company of others and view the night sky. A wood-burning fire pit with logs and kindling center the outdoor space; however, a propane fire pit takes its place during the summer months. Outdoor play includes regulation-size horseshoe pits with forged steel horseshoes, cornhole and ladder toss.
For safety puposes, external security cameras are in view of entry door and porch access. Another camera is in view of the driveway upon entering/ leaving the property.
Pets
Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are allowed on the property. Pet fee is $50. For additional pets, please inquire as an additional charge will be $25 per pet. Pets are taken care of with food/water bowls, cleaning and wash supplies. However, please bring your pet beds, mats or crates. About the host
Hosted by Maria and Jon

We are an active family of four from Portland with an English Shepherd and a guinea pig. We enjoy spending time outdoors, escaping the urban daily routine and seeking the clear open skies of Central Oregon.
We have family here so our trips to this high-desert region have been many. We found our perfect away-home with this property.
In 2020, we took our time slowly updating the cabin with a new roof, new flooring, newly painted walls, resurfaced wooden countertops and cabinets, new lighting fixtures and remodeled bathrooms.
We continue to enjoy our time at the cabin, spending time with our family, and connecting with the Central Oregon community. We easily find ourselves appreciating the simple sights and sounds of nature and deepening our relationships with everyone we meet.

Why they chose this property
This unique property offers great views of the Cascade Mountain range, which spans from the tips of Mount Bachelor to Mount Hood. From our cabin’s view, farmlands stretch long and wide with the presence of farm animals and visiting wildlife. We wanted to experience the calm and tranquility of country living. This area delivers.
What makes this property unique
Its remote location allows you to unplug and appreciate simply the beauty of the land, its vast range of mountains and farmlands. Though the interior has been updated to modern amenities, the cabin has its own rustic charm. The wilderness is appreciated by deer and other creatures that may pass through at times.
