Top New VT Host Winner! This private-entry, large master bedroom suite with pillow-topped king bed, breakfast bar, desk and recreation space is ideally located in Malletts Bay, Colchester, less than 15 minutes from Burlington. Wander nearby natural areas or visit the vibrant downtown areas of Burlington or Winooski, then return to your private suburban getaway and relax in the cozy space complete with jacuzzi tub. Bring your pets! Dogs love the big grassy yard and the private beach down the street.
What you'll find here is a well-lighted brick pathway leading from dedicated off-street parking to your secure private entry. Walking in amidst cheery artwork on dark chocolate-colored walls, you'll notice that the whole space is large and ideally set up for guests. To your right sits the "world's most comfy" king-sized bed. Straight ahead is an 80 inch west window where you can spot the lake through the trees and even watch kitesurfers or skaters if the weather is right. Below there's a convenient workstation and a cheery daybed, and to your right a long dresser and a breakfast nook with coffeemaker, toaster, fridge and microwave. The spacious and clean private bathroom features a shower stall and a standalone tub with powerful jacuzzi jets. Garage parking will keep your car snug in winter or safely house your sports gear in summer.
Convenient location and easy to find, just one mile from the enchanting Colchester Causeway, a reclaimed rail trail that loops three miles into the lake, and the pristine Rossetti Natural Area and Thayer Beach. Downtown Burlington, UVM and Interstate 89 are all less than 15 minutes' drive, and bespoke water fun like Sail Wild Air boat charters are 8 minutes away.
Amenities include private entry, covered garage, en suite bathroom with shower + jacuzzi tub, optional A/C and electric fireplace. Keurig, speedy wifi, minifridge, microwave, shared patio, tv, and games provided. Please note there is not a full kitchen, and for that reason we rarely accept stays longer than than two weeks. Pet comfort items including an orthopedic xl dog bed are available at no charge upon request.

The host was wonderful and checked in that my dog and I were comfortable and warm enough. The suite is very comfortable and inviting and I wanted to stay longer! I would definitely stay again if I am in the area. There was a hanging towel warmer, the bed was incredible comfortable and my dog loved laying on the daybed!
The host was very responsive to any questions we had and offered great flexibility with our travel plans for the week. This is a perfect location if you want a residential neighborhood just a few minutes away from Burlington yet with places of convenience right down the road in town, too. There is a wonderful park across the street ideal for walking and running, also.
I had a wonderful three-night stay! The space was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. Everything was seamless thanks to the clear, detailed instructions.KT was an exceptional host, providing great information about the area that really enhanced my visit. The space had plenty of hot water, and I especially appreciated the little touches like snacks and toiletries in case anything was forgotten. The jacuzzi bath and towel warmer were such a treat—perfect for relaxing. Even though the unit is attached to the main house, it felt very private. I also loved that it’s pet-friendly but didn’t smell like pets at all, which made the space feel fresh and welcoming.I truly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely return. Highly recommend!
Awesome space, my wife and I spent 3 nights here, quiet place and cozy exactly as advertised Right next to a couple of bike paths that we rode during our stay. The host was very accommodating and responsive to our queries Definitely would book this place again!
Our Host Kaomi was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. Parking was safe and room was extremely clean. She had everything available you may need and more. We had a great time biking and she allowed us to plug bikes and keep in secure garage.
The Chocolate Room was a perfect place for us to stay! So close to lots of things to do and the room was a wonderful place to relax after our activities. Our Host provided every amenity we could have wanted or needed and her communication was excellent. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We would definitely stay here again.
Everything was perfect for my trip. Kaomi is very friendly and eager to make sure guests have what they need, including experiences in Burlington. This is a very pet friendly location, and my dog Betty loved it! I worked at some points and the WIFI was great and location quiet. Thank you Kaomi!

I'm sorry to hear the stay didn’t meet your expectations. Based on our conversation, I understand you were expecting a freestanding home with a full kitchen, whereas the listing notes that this is a private guest suite. Many guests find it accurately described and enjoy the comfort and location (as reflected in our many 10/10 reviews). I always encourage guests to reach out during their stay if something isn’t as expected so we can explore options together.
Very comfortable bed, quiet location for sleeping, easy parking. Especially good spot if you're looking to walk and/or bike the trail along the lake and the causeway - located in cute neighborhood right on the bike route. There is also a nice park with tennis and pickle ball courts very close by.lake and the causeway
The room was was like a large comfy hotel room but attached to a nice home. It was in a very pretty neighborhood, very clean and spacious. King size and single bed. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you for letting me stay at your beautiful home. I had a great time. Definitely would love to stay again and bring my dog next time. I'm grateful for the experience. Thank you so much.
I have lived in Vermont since I was 17 and feel incredibly lucky to have landed here near the lake with so much outdoor beauty and still convenient to Burlington and I89. It's a peaceful, relaxing home and location and it's been my pleasure for the last fifteen years to share it with loved ones, guests and pets. In 2021 I opened this rental suite and was honored to earn the title of "VT's Top New Host of the Year" from a site like this.
Sasha the dog and Sylvie the cat also call this place home. They're both very friendly, and you may see them outdoors.
I am health-conscious and always take care of the suite and property with your health and safety in mind.
