About this property

Rustic/Chic Cabin- Pisgah National Forest -Wilson Creek

A Page of Pisgah
Shabby on the outside and chic on the inside, the cabin itself boasts equal parts comfort and charm. Notable features include: - Fully functional kitchen - Wildly comfortable beds and couches - Unique live edge countertops - Wood-burning fireplace - Charcoal grill - Fire pit - Coffee bar - Air fryer - Extensive DVD collection - Fishing rods (NC Fishing License Required) -No Wifi as of yet (its better than you think)

The space
Perfectly centered amidst hundreds of the best hiking trails in North Carolina, this luxurious yet rustic cabin allows for peaceful enjoyment of Pisgah National Forest and everything it has to offer. When it comes time to leave the park and explore you are a reasonable ride to attractions in Blowing Rock, Boone, Banner Elk, Morganton, and Lenior. This beautiful array of mountain towns offers great shopping, dining, breweries, vineyards, and fun attractions for children and adults alike. Pisgah National Forest provides endless hiking trails for people of all ability levels, the most gorgeous of which are within ten minutes of the cabin. You can also enjoy breathtaking waterfalls, Wilson Creek’s trout fishing, mountain biking, kayaking and swimming in some of the most clear and serene mountain water you’ll ever see. When it comes time to take a break, you are only a short drive to Betsey’s Old Country Store where you can grab fresh hotdogs, snacks, and cold drinks. This quaint little store brings in people from all over the country and offers a glance back in time to the way things used to look here. It’s a wonderful place to make new friends on a rustic front porch while occasionally listening to some great live music. Cell service is extremely hit or miss once you enter Pisgah National Forest and we do not yet provide Wifi. We strongly believe, as people who find themselves locked into their phones and computers for most of the workday, that the greatest blessing of the cabin is being unreachable while the Internet is unscrollable. The inconsistentcy of digital connection allows everyone to put devices down; reconnect as humans; and actually make time for reading, writing, art, walking slowly, doing puzzles, playing games, and other activities of our youth.

Other things to note
Just a forewarning that it is a long drive into the national park. Once there, the scenery is beautiful and the cell service is slim to none unless you drive up the mountain!

Father's day gift
We had a great time here. Very cute cabin. So peaceful! We had some family come up both days and swim on the river and there was enough room on the porch for us all to hang out and grill. The inside was comfy and cozy. Kitchen was pretty stocked, ice maker was a nice bonus. I would recommend maybe some bigger pots and pans, also couldn't find a can opener. If you love the outdoors, but also comfort, perfect!

Not exactly as described
Well . . . the cabin is great, the cleaning was awful . . . loads of hair in the shower (wash dog?), old used soap in shower, floors felt a bit dirty, old coffee pods left in machine and food in fridge . . . yuk! The cabin is cute and cozy, but remote should be emphasized . . . ~30+ minute drive up gravel road (drivable) although a pretty drive, access to town via cell maps takes you at least an hour through and over the mountain down 11 miles of more gravel roads. Listing states spotty cell service which is "none" and you have to drive 15 minutes up another gravel road to the top of the mountain to gain signal. I thought the listing was a bit "generous to the owners" for the actual location. The owner was very communicative before, but when we messaged about shower fixture falling off wall and toilet bowl not filling up (had to fill with bowl of water) . . . communications stopped. If you stay here, bring food and supplies as the nearest store of any capacity is at least 45 minutes away if not more. If you can't live with connectivity (teens/children) . . . this is not for you. If you want no connectivity, access to the river and trails and a "stay where you play" experience . . . this is the place to rent. Emphasize you would like it cleaned well prior to arriving.

WILL NEVER RENT THIS PROPERTY AGAIN!!!!!!!
First of all do not go by how close everything is on the listing, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock and Boone are an hour away from this property. To get to the property you have to go down about 20 miles of bumpy and narrow dirt roads. When we arrived there was a refrigerator sitting out beside the house along with two old run-down sheds on each side of the house. When we walked in it was very, very hot. All the lights were on and it was very dim and I almost burned myself on a heated wax light that was in a dark corner on the countertops. So we decided to try to fix supper and when my wife turned on the oven we did not realize there was a puddle of grease in the bottom so when she opened the oven door smoked poured out and set off the smoke alarm. There was exposed wiring to the switch and Outlets beside the refrigerator. Then I turned on the TV and there is no satellite or cable along with no landline phone and there is no cell service for about 30 miles. The owner just told me he had a nice DVD collection (really)? Also I did not know until check-in time that the breaker to the well pump occasionally trips. When I confronted the owner about how far everything was away from there he said it was not his fault that he didn't put that on the listing. As far as the rest of the cabin it was very clean, well decorated and spacious.

Wonderful escape
We both work in technology and needed a weekend to disconnect, well this beautiful cabin was the answer. The drive was perfect as you get to scope out the fishing spots at Wilsons Creek. It was cold this past weekend so we got to enjoy the use of the fireplace! Only recommendation is an ash bucket for the fireplace, but other than that it was pure bliss. Thank you for sharing this amazing home with us.
