This is a great place. It's a beautiful clean cabin with very friendly hosts (including the dogs!). We even saw a few Big Horn Sheep. Highly recommended!!
What an incredible cabin for our family of 4. Our children (4,6) loved sleeping in the lofted bed and playing on the swingset outside. This is a beautiful property, and rich with history. It’s about a 30 minute drive out of town, so be sure to come prepared with groceries. The (adorable) kitchen is fully stocked with the necessary equipment.
We were taking a summer family getaway to Rapid City. When we contacted the property owner with questions they were quick and prompt to respond. Our youngest has Autism and this property was great for both our youngest and two older children. They each had their own spaces and play area outside to stretch out. The property was as described and extremely clean and welcoming for anyone looking to stay. Everything we could have needed was available within the cabin and was only a short drive from anything near Rapid City and parks. It was a wonderful, peaceful getaway for our family! Thank you!
The cabin was just as pictured. Clean, tucked back in the woods - beautiful views; wildlife would walk right next to the deck. Perfect place to unplug for our busy lives and stay connected as a family. Close enough to all the amazing things South Dakota has to offer but away from the busy. What a beautiful place! We’ll definitely be visiting South Dakota again & would recommend this cabin to many others! *note- the loft has very low ceilings (obviously) but our 13 year old daughter loved the space all to herself! the ladder was a little too high for my comfort in case our youngest woke up in the middle of the night. We made the sleeping arrangements work! All of our kids enjoyed the playset- loved seeing our oldest son, 16, get on and have a blast with his brother & sister! This cabin was perfect for our family of 5!
Perfect Family Cabin with a Playset, Beautiful Views, & Sweet Hosts!
We had a wonderful stay at this charming 1909 South Dakota cabin! It’s full of character with original doors and a peaceful setting with gorgeous views out back that made for the perfect morning coffee spot! The big front yard was perfect for our kids, who loved running barefoot on the soft grass. The huge, unique playset and lookout tower were a highlight. They spent evenings up there watching deer wander by.The yard is clearly well cared for, and we loved relaxing around the gas fire pit making s’mores. After a day of sightseeing, it was so nice to grill dinner and eat outside at the patio table. The location is perfect! It’s tucked away and quiet, yet close to everything we wanted to see and just 15 minutes from Walmart. The owners live next door in a historic cabin of their own and were so friendly and helpful, offering great local tips. Their sweet dogs were a hit with our kids! One especially kind moment stood out: our daughter fell on a trail, and even though there was a first aid kit in the cabin, Tina brought over larger Band-Aids and Neosporin. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really meant a lot. This place is full of charm, natural beauty, and warm hospitality. We’re so grateful for the memories and would absolutely stay again!
This property was a great place to stay. Centrally located to all of the attractions, clean, comfortable, and well stocked.
A great place for relaxing after being out for the day. Wildlife in the front yard and a great view out back. Highly recommend.
Very clean, well maintained property! The owners are very helpful and friendly. Our kids loved playing on the playset and there was space for them to run. All necessities are provided as well as a few games. There were not any toys (which was fine for us), but if your kids need something extra to play with, you might want to bring a couple. There are lots of things to do within 15-60 min away. We had a great time!
We could not have found a cleaner, more beautiful, easily accessible, and centrally located place for our five-day vacation in the Mount Rushmore area! The hosts were very friendly, kind, and helpful with suggestions. The cabin is comfortable and sits on a gorgeous property, with wildlife visible and audible all around. By far the best place I have ever booked for my family's vacations! Mount Rushmore, Black Hills, Wall Drug, Rapid City, Badlands, and 2 national caves were all within a 90-minute drive or much less. The hosts could not have been more kind and respectful of us. I think the cabin alone would have made for an awesome trip, with boardgames and grilling and s'mores on the firepit. Thank you hosts! A 10-out-of-10, must-reserve, no complaints stay!
The cabin is adorable, exceptionally clean, beautifully appointed, fully stocked with kitchen needs and daily essentials, comfy beds, fluffy towels, pretty views, working fireplace and fire pit, and lots of wildlife; Absolutely Lovely. Helpful to know before you book: if you are looking for a private cabin in the Black Hills (honeymoon, or otherwise highly value seclusion or privacy in rentals) this is not the place. The very kind and helpful owners are on the same property in the (very close) big house next door and share the yard. There are other cabins in this area by the same awesome owners that are more secluded to look into in that case.
Gorgeous cabin & location! (But bring noisemakers for kid/babies)
We had a lovely stay at this cozy cabin with our 3 littles (5, 3, and 7 months). The hosts were super nice and quick to respond any inquiries. The location was amazing! The older kids loved playing in the treehouse/playground and sleeping in the loft beds. The main bedroom beds were pretty creaky when getting in an out of them but thankfully we had noisemakers for the baby/kids so as not to wake them. Also of note, most of the windows don't have curtains which is amazing for letting natural light in, but might interfere with sleep for the littles. Plenty of space in the bedroom for baby's pack and play. Overall great place!
We had an excellent time staying here. It was centrally located so we could see all the sites. The grill and gas bonfire we’re very easy to use. We would stay here again when we come back into town.
This place was really awesome. Our family loved it. We had deer and big horn sheep in the yard. This place is in a great location to explore everything in the Black Hills and we even went up to Devils Tower which was less than two hours. Highly recommend staying here. And the views from the back of the cabin were amazing!
This property was perfect for our family. The location is the closest thing to being in The Hills but yet being in Rapid City. It was very clean and had everything you need. The kitchen was well-stocked & bathroom towels were spa-quality. The pictures don’t do it justice. Beautiful scenery all around. We will definitely stay here again!
The cabin was exactly as stated, very clean, very cozy. Hosts are very friendly. This is a great property for a family, close to many tourist spots. The cabin is very close to the hosts home. We were looking for a private cabin as we were on our honeymoon. If close proximity is not a concern this is a fabulous cabin.
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly!
Beautiful place, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen. If our travels take us back to SD we will definitely plan to stay at this cabin.
