About this property

The Loft: Modern Open space in Southeast Portland

Open, airy, and stylish space that is also very private. Located over a detached garage behind the main house. This is a great neighborhood that is close to public transportation and major roads. Easily walk to food carts, restaurants, local bars, and main shopping areas. We are looking to provide a safe and comfortable space. We love to give suggestions and recommendations on our favorite places and things to do in Portland and beyond. Or leave you alone and let you do your thing.

The space
In unit washer/dryer, no stovetop or oven, but has a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, Keurig coffee maker and a large refrigerator. Not fully blackout dark during the day but blinds provide plenty of privacy. Bathroom with shower (no tub). We consider this place a work in progress. If you notice anything that affects your stay please let us know and we'll do our best to correct it.
Our space is very clean and tidy as you can see by our reviews. We take pride in that fact and also provide many amenities that may be needed during your stay.

PLEASE NOTE:
We take the cleanliness of our space very seriously. After checkout we air the space out with all of the windows open. All sheets and towels are washed regardless of condition or obvious use. The bed, couch, and all flooring, are vacuumed as well as all rugs. Surfaces are wiped down with disinfectant as well as all handles (blinds, doors, windows, furniture, appliances), light switches, and hand rails. The unit is then cleaned with EPA approved (for viruses/bacteria) cleaners a 2nd time to near hospital standards (we both work(ed) in health care).

About the host

Host profile image
Originally from Chicago. Living in Portland, OR since 2013. I started in health care as an RN and now I buy and sell, as well as manage, real estate as a licensed broker in the state of Oregon. I am a hiker, biker, runner, eater, and more. We are super neat when we travel and can see things from a "host" perspective. We travel to do all the things we love. We love to share our favorite activities and advice on places to eat, things to see and explore, as well as try to be "local and respectful".

Why they chose this property

I'm a big believer in knowing when something feel's right or wrong. We had seen many homes all over Portland and we were only semi familiar with this area. Once we stepped inside it was so different than what we were looking for but it felt right. It was older (built in 1908) than we had ever considered, smaller (2beds instead of 3), and dirty (seller had multiple dogs and had already started to move out). But the layout and the unfinished garage and shop which was started in 2007 but stopped in 2009 (future ADU) pushed us to consider and make an offer.

What makes this property unique

This space is great for 2 people, comfortable but tight for 3 people. Our neighborhood is a quiet residential area but within a growing city. Walkable to multiple food cart pods, bars, coffee shops, and some of the best restaurants in the city. The area we live in is called Richmond but borders on Foster-Powell aka FoPo. Clinton Park, Creston Park and Pool are both less than 0.5mi away. Mt. Tabor is 1 mi away, bike to Woodstock, and all of the new places coming up on Foster. Also look up streets/neighborhoods: Division, Hawthorne, Foster Ave (FoPo), Woodstock.
