About this property
Antica fattoria 25 km a Siena di fronte a Montalcino con piscina / lezione di cucina
SUN-ART AND NATURE. The farm-holyday resort Agriturismo Podere Cunina is immerged in a large natural reserve , with a lot of wild small and mid size animals, offers to the tourists a finely renovated flat with sight on Montalcino, mount Amiata and the hills of Buonconvento and Siena. WE HAVE 7 FLATS AVAILABLE, PLEASE, CONTACT FOR DETAILS ABOUT OUR OTHER FLATS. We offer unforgettable and very interesting wine tours and cooking classes.
The farmhouse is equipped with ancient quality furniture, fitted with all modern comfort items, with maximum level certifications regarding the safety and the energy saving (floor heating/ refreshing with geothermal system, thermal and acoustic insulation).
Silvana, Piergiorgio, and their family invite you to spend a vacation at Podere Cunina, an old Tuscan farmhouse situated on a hill with a 360° panoramic view. The farmhouse and grounds were restored to include 7 apartments, barbeque and picnic areas, and a swimming pool with wi-fi connection. Podere Cunina is an ideal location from which to discover the Crete Senesi, Val d'Orcia, and all of Tuscany. Surrounded by this ancient landscape, essential and harmonious, your respect and love for nature's beauty will be nourished. Your eyes and your soul will remember it….and you will remain always attracted to this land
Livestock paths, numerous vineyards, olive-groves, truffle-grounds, and lush forests with oaks, ilexes, broom and hawthorn can be seen here. Travelling along the rural dirt roads, often located on hill ridges, seems like sailing among waves of earth and, when overlooked by an open sky and pushed by the wind, one feels very small.
This land is crossed by the ancient Via Cassia road and is part of the Francigena pilgrims route. It is rich with old parish-churches, abbeys, and ancient farmhouses and thermal springs, as well as travertine quarries which gave birth to the famous local handicrafts. Due to their peculiar landscape and the abundance of artistic and historical references, the Sienese Clay Hills are among the most famous and photographed environments in Italy. Set between the hills, the fields of grain and the cypress trees, the Clay Hills are a countryside heritage protected by UNESCO. Here mass tourism doesn't exist, it would be destructive and would devastate the intimacy and harmony eminating from these hills. In recent yeats efforts havebeen made to renovate local farmhouses and restart crop cultivation, which was abandoned in the '60s and '70s following industrial development. These rural smallholdings live again and often offer hospitality to tourists from all over the world as farm-holiday property and locations.
PODERE CUNINA in BUONCONVENTO is also a farm-holiday location within this system of architectural and landscape recovery that fully respects its environment. Traditional materials typical of the area, sourced via accurate and detailed research, were used for the renovation. Located inside a large nature reserve, with many small and medium-sized woodland animals, it offers 7 finely-renovated flats to tourists, with views of Montalcino, Mount Amiata and the hills of Buonconvento and Siena. It is equipped throughout with quality, antique furniture, fitted with all modern comforts, with maximum level certification regarding safety and energy saving (underfloor heating via geothermal system, thermal insulation, pool).
Again in the light of environmental recovery, we have restarted working the soil by restoring a small existing olive-grove and creating a new one with about 800 plants of the species Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo, and Pendolino. The agricultural production of this small farm is the biological Pure Olive Oil ('extravirgin') from the Sienese Clay Hills, honey and organic saffron.
A loving restoration Over a delicious lunch prepared by son Marcello, who is a trained chef and thus offers guests private cooking lessons, we heard the passion and love that Silvana, Piergiorgio and their children have put into the estate. Piergiorgio explained how the restoration took years, as they recuperated as much of the original materials as possible and then went on the search for original pieces to decorate their new home. The restoration is high quality, with beautiful fixtures and furnishings blending in perfectly with the feel of an old farmhouse: the authentic hand-painted walls were done by Piergiorgio himself and the heavy wooden shutters on the windows, wrought-iron beds and tiles in the apartments combine perfectly with every modern convenience (including TVs which I imagine I would never even turn on if I stayed here).

Wonderful authentic experience in Tuscan Farmhouse
We enjoyed our stay very much. The pictured are as advertised, and we enjoyed getting to know our hosts. I would recommend the cooking class from Marcello to anyone - very knowledgeable and great to work with! We hope to visit again!
Silvana and her family provided a great experience. The accommodations were amazing. We stayed for 8 days and were able to explore the entire region. Silvana and her husband guided us on places to visit. We are on a 2 month trip and Tuscany was the focus of our journey. Each residence is filled with charm. Kitchen is very well equipped too. Go and enjoy the hospitality of this amazing family. Thank you again for the memor.
We had such a lovely time at the Cunina and it was both relaxing and a beautiful setting. The family is warm, friendly and adept at sharing their community. We loved the little village of Buonconvento.
We also did the wine tasting experience with Marcello; a full day of wine tasting with a knowledgable and fluent quide, what could be better?

Beautiful and serene
We just returned from Italy and this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! The apartment was perfect with its panoramic views of the countryside and was more than enough space for me and my fiancé. It was very clean and had all the amenities you would want, we loved that we could do laundry.
The farmhouse and pool area are lovely and Silvana was an amazing host. She was very accommodating and had great recommendations of places to visit during our stay, she did not lead us in the wrong direction!
This is a great property to relax and take in all Tuscany has to offer. I felt like every sunset/sunrise, I was looking at a beautiful picture through the window of our apartment.
Although closely located to Buonconvento (5 km), it is about 30 min to Montalcino and 1 hr to Montapulcino. If you are ok with driving and exploring the countryside then I would recommend this property,
The hosts although somewhat challenged to speak English, did a phenomenal job in ensuring our stay was well taken care of.

Wonderful experience
Conveniently located in the town of Buonconvento, this farmhouse experience was exactly what we were looking for. The hosts, Silvana and Peter, were very welcoming and helpful and their property is amazing. Each morning we woke to the smell of fresh herbs growing in the garden and extraordinary views of the Tuscan countryside. At night, we had amazing sunsets. The location of the property is situated close to Montalcino, Pienza and a short drive away from Siena and Montepulciano. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to explore Tuscany. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Gorgeous Tuscan villa with picturesque views and great proximity to everything!
BOOK THIS PROPERTY! The views are breathtaking- exactly what you dream of when you dream of Tuscany. The property is stunning, with its gardens, the swimming pool, the views everywhere. There is even an organic garden that guests are invited to pick from! We loved our stay here, as we were able to cook in our private kitchen and ate on our private terrace. The pool is so relaxing and the whole property is so peaceful and quiet. The property is 20 min to Montalcino, a must see in the area, and close to SO MANY amazing wineries and other cool towns. The hosts were so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We were so sad to leave this little piece of heaven!

Cannot wait to return
This lovely farmhouse was beautifully restored, with immaculate attention to detail; spotlessly clean; and with stunning views from every angle - even in the rain! There is a delicious vegetable garden the owners invited us to use and so we had fresh salads during our stay. Silvana and her family are warm, friendly and kind. Of all our travels in Italy, previously and now, this is by far our favourite place to stay. Buonconvento by the way is a charming little town with lots of small restaurants with great food and a local café for coffee and cornetto (croissant) for breakfast. We will definitely be returning again as soon as we can!

Tuscany & cooking!
What can we say...this is absolutely the perfect farmhouse to stay at in Tuscany. It is everything Silvanna advertises it as and more. The apartment was perfect for us three women from California. We signed up for the cooking class and it was so much fun!! Not only did we get to eat it, we actually participated in making the meal. And..we have the recipes to bring home! We visited many towns right around the Buonconvento area. All you have to do is drive around and indulge yourself it the Tuscan towns & many fine wines!
We even went for a walk up to the the lone tree on the hill you can see from the farmhouse. When we got there, we saw all these notes tied to the tree from others who had been there. Legend is...they are love letters or special wishes.
Since we were there on the 4th of July (American Holiday) all the guests at the farmhouse celebrated the 4th with a BBQ. This was the perfect place to be on this leg of our trip through Italy.
If you are looking for a farmhouse experience, look no further. Silvanna and her family will make you feel at home, we didn't want to leave.

Firefies and a full moon!
We cannot say enough about our wonderful stay with Giorgio, Silvana and Marcello Freddi! The house has been lovingly restored, beautifully appointed. The grounds are complete with fresh herbs for your own meals and a lovely pool with great views. On our last night, we went down to the pool in the full moon and watched the "lucciola" by the thousands flashing in the field below- magical!
The hosts provided helpful advise, complete with an annotated regional map to their favorite Tuscany highlights. Buonconvento itself is a charming small town with a few very nice restaurants, enoteca, the usual small meat and cheese vendors, coffee shops. It has a larger grocery store as well. Like most Tuscan towns there is a church, clock tower, museum and partial wall with giant wooden doors. It was a great location for exploring the region.
A day's winery tour with Marcello was perfectly paced and you feel like an insider at each of the three stops, all with very different characteristics. We were not able to do cooking class on site though we heard fabulous reviews of Marcello's class. They were able to make arrangements for us however, just up the hill with Anna Lisa at Fattoria Resta. She and her daughter Livia were fun and relaxed...the fattoria was beautiful and historical interesting as well. And of course, the meal - wow!
Already scheming to return! We miss you already Freddi family!
We visited Podere Cunina on the last leg of our Honeymoon. The Freddi family was incredibly welcoming and provided such an amazing experience for us, We loved the cooking class and wine tour with Marcello. The property is gorgeous and the views are exceptional. All in all a top notch experience. Thank You!
Endroit charmant et au calme. Si vous désirez louer un appartement dans cette résidence, il est préférable de se renseigner sur l’équipement avant d’effectuer la réservation. Un appartement n’étant pas du même standing qu’un autre.
Absolutely lovely stay.
We had the Pinus apartment which had one bedroom and a mezzanine floor with a sofa bed.
Lovely clean property. Kept relatively cool during a v hit heatwave thanks to the "air conditioning".
Very nice grounds/garden and a clean pool.
Easy to book and easy to find and the hosts were lovely.
We enjoyed it so much we are keen to book again with some friends next year. Next time we'll book earlier to get one of the ground floor apartments overlooking the pool!

My husband and I are from Canada and we recently stayed at Podere Cunina. What a beautiful property run by an equally beautiful family!! The apartment, pool and view are all wonderful. The bbq and garden are open to you to use, which we did. It was nice to cook our own meals after eating in restaurants for the beginning of our trip. We booked a wine tour with Marcello, highly recommended!! He has a sweet personality and is very knowledgeable about wine and his region. We learned so much from him not only from the tour but also in casual conversation. I hope we make it back to Italy one day, we will definitely stay at Podere Cunina again!! Thank you again for such an unforgettable experience :)
Book this now - this is it! We researched many options and are so pleased that we stayed at Podere Cunina. We are a family of four adults. From the start, the owners were easy to reach, helpful, and straightforward. There are several choices in apartments (within a stunning converted barn/garden setting, each with private access) and they can help you to select. The apartments are beautifully decorated in Tuscan decor, spotlessly clean, and have all the amenities as advertised (even the sinks were gorgeous - stone). The setting is very personal and quiet. We appreciated having a washing machine. The location is terrific - centrally located to many small towns worth visiting. Their farm setting and landscaping is gorgeous, and includes an amazing 360 degree view of Tuscany. The pictures don't truly do it justice - it is breathtaking. Absolutely part of the experience is the delightful hosts who provide wonderful attention and information regarding Tuscany, but are never intrusive. *** Be SURE to book a wine tasting tour with Marcello. The entire day was truly exceptional and he arranged for us to cover Montalcino, Montepulciano, and Pienza (cheese!). We had a car, so also visited several other towns on our own. Thanks to our hosts' recommendations, this included visiting nearby hot springs. They farm both honey and olives on-site and we had delightful opportunities to learn more about both. (I believe the cooking class would have also been a wonderful experience, we just had limited time). Podere Cunina is truly an EXCEPTIONAL place to stay - gorgeous and private, with delightful hosts who make it very special . We hope to visit again some day!

Beautiful property and great hosts!
The location was perfect for our stay as it's quiet and private and comes with 360 degrees of gorgeous views. Silvana and her family were always around if we needed anything. They are warm and welcoming and was helpful with local information, restaurant (and gelateria!) recommendations and even offered us a delicious bottle of local wine! Silvana made it a point to say bye to my 6 year old, which shows how she cares for all her visitors both young and old. Thank you Silvana! We loved staying at your beautiful property! We hope to visit again!

Beautiful Location, Wonderful Hosts
Silvana's Agritourismo Farmhouse is wonderful. Our "Morus" apartment was well appointed, clean and comfortable. It had great views of Montalcino across the valley that were enhanced by the complementary bottle of Sangiovese wine. Buonconvento is a cute village and in a great central location for visiting nearby hill towns. We had a most excellent stay. Thank You!

Vacanza da ricordare
Bellissimo podere con panorami mozzafiato a 360°.Ottima posizione per poter visitare città e borghi tra i più ricercati della Val D'Orcia. Appartamento curatissimo in tutti i suoi particolari quasi a ricordare atmosfere d'altri tempi. Non da meno l'accoglienza e disponibilità della signora Silvana e Piergiorgio quasi come famigliari.
Torneremo sicuramente.

Such a magical place!
It's hard to put into words just how beautiful this property is. The pictures don't do it justice. It's so BEAUTIFUL, that it's hard to believe people actually live here. We spent an incredible 4 nights and indulged ourselves in every bit of this lovely property. One of the highlights was the not-to-be-missed cooking class with Marcello. We learned soooooooo much, he's extremely thorough and has as tremendous passion for what he does. If you think you've had the best cooking class there is, you haven't. Not until you've taken his. It ended with the most wonderful meal with his family. Silvana & Piergiorgio are the kindest, warmest people. I cannot say enough about how warm the whole family is.
Buonconvento was the best place we could have stayed in the Tuscan countryside. It's the opposite of touristy. It's quaint, picturesque and quiet. We took day trips to Siena, Pienza and Montepulciano and could have stayed another day to see Montalcino.
Many, many thanks to you for making our time spent with you so one-of-kind. Love to all of you! Grazie mille, Freddi family!!
