About this property
Lake View 3 Bedroom Barn
This property is the original barn that was a part of a farm built in the mid 1800's. The 3 bedroom facility is half of the barn, but renters have use of the immediate property surrounding the barn. There are two horses on the property, which is why we cannot accept pets. This is a modern farmhouse where we repurposed many traditional architectural pieces and antiques to maintain the authenticity of the original time period when the barn was actively used for farm purposes. There is a hot tub for the use of paying guests only. There is also a fire pit on the back patio, and we supply the wood. Renters have use of 4 bicycles, and the lake is a 3 minute walk down the road. It is a rocky shore.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the barn! Check-in was a breeze. The house was spacious and beautiful! The kitchen had everything we needed. The backyard was amazing - so pleasant and peaceful. The location was great - just a very short drive to Hamlin Beach State Park.
We returned for a second year for our annual fishing trip. Location to several marinas is great. Very nice comfortable place to relax after a long day on the water.
We have stayed at a lot of places over the many years we’ve been coming to the area for our annual fishing trip. This is by far the best place. This was our third year and we look forward to next year.
May be the cleanest VRBO home I have ever rented. Fully stocked house. Gail and David were terrific at responding to questions on a very timely basis and super nice people. Highly recommend.
The property was well appointed and sparkling clean. David and Gail were fantastic hosts. We had a wonderful time enjoying the amenities of the home and surrounding area. Will definitely go back.

Melisa was a wonderful guest. The kind of guest that every owner dreams of having. We can't wait for their next visit!
This was our second visit here. The renovated barn is lovely, clean and well appointed with the things we needed. Our visit there is to spend time with our NY family and this place is very conveniently located to make it easy for us to get back and forth to their home. Would recommend and will most likely return! Thanks to our hosts!!
We come to the Kendall/Albion NY area every fall to fish for trout and salmon. Having a nice place to relax and stay is essential. The venue was very nice, clean and had everything we wanted and more. Thank you for having us!
We had an incredible and relaxing weekend in this truly one-of-a-kind property in Kendall, NY.
The property is a spacious, well-appointed, and clean and is an obvious labor-of-love for the owners, David and Gail. Done in a unique shabby-chic style, the space is reclaimed from a barn with an open floor plan on the first floor, and three huge rooms on the second (2 queen-suites and larger-still open bunk-room style space with bunks). Plenty of room for large families or multiple average families. One item which bears repeating from other comments is the spiral staircase may challenge some mobility limited guests, but there are work-around should you need it (exterior staircase and a space on the first floor which may be repurposed).
The property sits in a wonderful rural neighborhood which is very well kept, about 300 yards from the lake. While there is not much sightseeing in Kendall itself, walks to see the sunset on the lake were a highlight of our stay. Niagra and Rochester are both reasonable drives away, with some state parks even closer for more avid nature lovers. Local farms and roadside veggie stands made for some great home-cooking opportunities in the spacious kitchen, and we didn’t feel the need to venture to local restaurants, but I didn’t see any that were particularly close.
Overall, we had a great stay at this property and will definitely look to stay there again if ever we need to be close to Rochester.
Highly recommended!!!
The “Barn” was spacious, organized, and perfectly clean! The hosts were gracious and quickly responded to all of our questions and needs. There was everything that we needed to relax for a few days and it was easy to travel around and to sight see!
Beautiful home in a beautiful setting! We will definitely stay here again if we are vacationing in the area!
If you want to relax, this isn’t the place for you!
The space was beautiful, nicely furnished. However, the hosts left multiple notes through the house as well as in the notebook. The notes seemed demanding rather than a courteous. Things you can do, things you can’t do, things you must do. Before I did anything I felt I needed to refer to the book before doing anything. A cleaning fee was charged yet we were required to maintain and clean the location before leaving. After removing spiderwebs from the utensils to use the grill, battling a fruit fly infestation and having the host approach us (they lived next door) and inform us we needed to put the bar down on the hot tub, it made for an awkward stay. They may have had some unruly guests in the past but we were a group of grown women and didn’t need our hands held and told what to do.
Booking the space was not straight forward and it wasn’t spelled out that if you were having more than 4 people stay it was additional money. This info was given to the host prior to our stay but the extra fee was never mentioned until the day before our arrival. They agreed they would let our price remain as there listing was not accurate the but not without sending me a lengthy email telling me how to book on VRBO correctly the next time. It was noted there was beach access to get a kayak in the water. Sure, you could attempt this but you’d probably end up with some broken bones.
I don’t think I’d stay here again, recommmend anyone to stay here and the other guests feel the same. This was a collaborative review.
Enjoyed the barn. Host was very helpful. Kitchen remarkably well stocked for a vacation rental. Complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch. Enjoyed patio in back including hot tub. Spiral staircase was fun to go up and down.
If I had to make one suggestion for improvement it would be to add some more lamps and higher wattage light bulbs. There was no good place to read in the entire barn. Some people still like to read at night.
My group and I had a great stay at Gail’s place. It was clean and up to date. Loves the farmhouse features throughout the house. The backyard was the real winner! We had so much fun sitting around the fire, playing cornhole and enjoying the hot tub. And we enjoyed the company of the horses very much! Would definitely recommend Gail’s place to others in the future. Thanks for a great stay!
We were amazed at the beauty of the Barn, it’s decor and real farm feel. We loved watching the horses graze during the day. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The owners went out of their way to make our stay memorable!

Why they chose this property

The BARN has been restored and renovated to include the 1800 square feet residence that could be yours for a unique, away from it all, time just for you, family and friends. Lake Ontario is a 3 minute walk to the end of the street. Bald Eagle Marina and Lures restaurant is a 5 minute drive around the block. Hamlin Beach State Park is an 8 minute drive or a 15 minute bike ride away.
