Really enjoyed everything about our stay. Check in was easy, hospitality and communication was great, and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.
Very, very beautiful accommodation. Quite comfortable, wonderful furnishings, tremendous history in the home.
Centrally located and nice stroll to the riverfront.
Great property! Such a nice property to enjoy a wonderful little city. This property was clean and owner was very responsive and friendly! Didn’t realize how many amenities this property offered in initial booking, from the historical charm to the beautiful courtyard. Would recommend this property!!
Exceptional Stay at Above the Law in the Historic Law Building – A Natchez Gem!I recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at Above the Law, a luxurious apartment rental nestled in the iconic Law Building in downtown Natchez, Mississippi. Booked through VRBO, this place exceeded all my expectations and made for an unforgettable getaway. If you’re looking for a blend of historic charm, modern comfort, and Southern hospitality, this is the spot. My partner and I spent a full week here, exploring the area’s rich history and antebellum mansions, and we couldn’t have chosen a better home base. The charm of this place is off the charts. The Law Building itself is a piece of Natchez history, originally a former law office that has been beautifully repurposed into upscale accommodations. Above the Law is the upstairs apartment, and stepping inside feels like entering a time capsule with a contemporary twist. The high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and original architectural details give it that authentic old-world allure, while the tasteful renovations ensure it’s bright, airy, and inviting. It’s not just a rental; it’s a storybook setting that captures the essence of Natchez’s storied past. We felt transported to a bygone era, yet with all the conveniences of today. The overall vibe is one of elegant nostalgia – perfect for his
We loved staying here. The host has left a lot of their family pictures and other history. It was nice to look at the old pictures and other items. He was very responsive anytime we had a question. It was a wonderful place to just get away and enjoy.
The Gaol is a very interesting apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The courtyard in the back was very lovely and pleasant. We would definitely stay there again.
Very tidy & clean, enjoyed the beautiful courtyard, bed was so soft & comfy! Enjoyed looking at all the pictures throughout apartment. We had a great trip!
The suite met or exceeded all of our expectations.

Lovely apartment with all the furniture and antiques, we really enjoyed our stay. Owners are super nice and accommodating. Nice private courtyard. We would definitely stay here again!
We stayed in "The Law". We were very pleased with the spacious rooms and all of the personal touches. Richard is a wonderful host who was very personable and communicated clearly. We visited Natchez with our long time friends and we all found the home to be quite comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed with dishes, cookware, etc. The special touch throughout the house is the history and stories behind the various artwork or collections. It was in a great location downtown which allowed us to walk to many of the sites in which we were interested. We'll definitely stay here again on any future visits.
My husband and I enjoyed the warmth and gentility of The Law Building during our recent five day visit to Natchez. We loved being surrounded by the books, art, fine furniture and beautiful collections. The private courtyard is a whimsical jewel. The kitchen is fabulous. The Law Building is conveniently located within walking distance of excellent restaurants and historic sites. Mr. Richard and Mrs. Barbara quickly responded to our messages. Check-in and check-out were simple. Parking couldn't have been easier. This property is especially well-suited for folks with joint problems--no steps and grab bars in the bathroom. We highly recommend it!
The property was awesome. EXTREMELY convenient to everything we wanted to do. Richard is very responsive to messages. We have stayed with Richard before and will stay again.
Step back in history in this townhome filled with unique collections that add to the character of the home. Quite comfortable with access to an outdoor courtyard. Walking distance to coffee shops and other restaurants & shops. A must stay when in Natchez.
My husband and I spent a long weekend at The Law. The property and Natchez we’re unique and rich with history. It was clean and comfortable. Perfect to relax and enjoy a peaceful weekend.
We so enjoyed our stay at The Law in Natchez. What an interesting property! As a mother-daughter pair that enjoys antiques and exploring communities, we were enthralled in the history of the apartment and the city. The property was well-curated and had all the comforts required. I would definitly stay here again.
We sincerely enjoyed our stay at the Law Building. It was fun exploring all of the antiques throughout the house. Our only complaint was the music/partying coming from the bar across the street and cars/people in the street. Our walls were rattling until close to 3am on Saturday night, made it very hard to sleep.
The location was great, and everyone was very friendly.

About the host

This apartment was my Mother’s home for 18 years. It still contains most of my mother’s collections and family items.
It still feels like a family retreat and it is still used by my family when they visit.
Much decluttering was done - but my mother was a collector for all of her 89 years !
Why they chose this property
I opened an Antique Store on Franklin Street in 1987 - in 1989 it was in this space. In 1992, we moved the store next door and my Father moved his Law office into The Law! It was a Law office till 2002 when it was converted into my mother’s home.
It opened as a BnB in 2021
What makes this property unique
Several great personal collections. Spacious layout and a beautiful large secluded courtyard. Safe off street parking and an onsite owner. We also have an onsite manager during business hours. Lots of TV’s and fast internet!
