Kelsi, thanks for staying with us. Y’all are welcome back anytime.
We had a great time with our family ( seven adults and a baby). There was plenty of room to relax and play. The water water was cool respite from the summer heat. And the hosts made sure all was right.
We stayed here for our womens retreat and it was more than we could have ever imagined! The host were so easy to work with and so nice! This property is beautiful and has everything you can ever imagine! There is absolutely no need to leave and go anywhere else! The perfect place for our weekend getaway! We will definitely be coming back!

Thanks for staying with us. Y'all were very neat and we appreciated that. Looking forward to next year's visit.
Great location just outside of town. Super property. We had kids from 1 to 14, 2 sets of parents, and one grandparent (and two dogs). Everyone had a great time playing in and around the creek and sitting around the fire. Dogs loved exploring. House is well laid out and very accommodating. Easy communications with owner before and during stay. Would absolutely stay here again.
If you are looking to spend a weekend doing nothing, then this is it !! This is one of the best places that we have rented in last several years. A very thought about setup. A perfect gateway place with great outdoor options - Covered patio, fire pit, creek / river in the back, picnic tables, in house sound system, etc. Cannot praise enough.

Thank you. We are glad your family enjoyed our place. Hope to see you again.
Jake's property is phenomenal! It's extremely spacious, clean, and is located on a beautiful creek. Jake was very accommodating and responsive. He even brought us more firewood each night. Hats off to Jake and his property. We'll definitely look to book this again next year! 5 out of 5 all the way!

Thank you for choosing our place to park your amazing automobiles. We look forward to your next outing.
I was a bit nervous at first, but as soon as we drove up to the home we were blown away by the beauty of it. The outdoors was fantastic. Entering the home, was clean and open concept with enough room for all 11 travelers to be together at the same time, but not crowded. We had general questions and Jake responded quickly, he even went out to check the golf cart. We chatted and he’s a great guy! I can go on and on about how great the property and home was. Our family made great memories, and they are already making plans to visit the same home in a few months!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed the home with all the big windows looking out onto the beautiful hills/valleys surrounding the location with Johnson creek running along backside of the property. The golf cart was a necessary bonus that we used to carry young & old alike around the property. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
But I would like to express to the property manager and/or owner that they severely need to replace mattresses on king sized bed in master. My husband & I experienced severe sleep deprivation sleeping on those mattresses. On the right side of mattress it was like it had seperated and had a deep hole. The left side of mattress was like sleeping on the side of a hill & almost drove me to go sleep on the couch. The trundle bed mattress in room with 3 twin beds also needs to be replaced due to it’s so soft there is no support. The fold out couch hideabed in the game room “Might” be okay for young kids, but not for adults. The other beds in the home were nice as told by my family. The rock creek side patio was a nice simple pleasure enjoyed by all. Also one of the patio furniture rocker/swivel chairs turned over backwards with me in it, I wasn’t injured. The houses heat/air unit went out the day before we got there & there were loud portable water coolers placed in living area and master bedroom which was a little disappointing. I believe this home could be a much desired property with investments listed above. We considered staying another night because of the beautiful eye appealing scenery surrounding the home, but couldn’t fathom spending another sleepless night on above mentioned mattresses. I’m sure that your return guest numbers would be increased with suggestioned upgrades. Sorry we couldn’t give better review, don’t take it personal, I’m being honest in effort to help you realize potential lost for return guests.

Thanks for letting us know. This is a new VRBO w new beds. We contacted the mattress company and learned the mattress had failed. We were given a full warranty replacement. Thanks for letting us know.
The Lodge on Johnson Creek is a wonderful property for family or group gatherings. The accommodations are top notch. My family has spent two Thanksgivings there and each time it was a great experience. The setting is gorgeous, there is ample room for everyone, and the kitchen & great room is perfect. Highest recommendation!!
Loved the house and river, need a rail around the right sidewalk of the patio, that step is a big one. But beside that it was great and would stayt there again.
This is our second time staying here and just as last year it was wonderful! Such a great experience and a beautiful property! Everything was so easy from checking in and checking out was so simple! We will for sure be back!
this property is a great spot for relaxing among beautiful scenery in the Hill Country. Great kitchen for cooking and large family room. The fire pit is awesome, too! We enjoyed it thoroughly!
I don’t even have words for this place. It was absolutely amazing …. Our only regret is that we did not have more time.
Perfect for a large family, book club, retreat or anything.
Everything you need is there.
Our book club had a blast! We are coming back!

Toni, thanks for the nice review. Y'all are welcome back any time. You do need to stay longer next time so you can relax more.
Absolutely beautiful and private home on Johnson Creek! Perfect size for 3 families to spend a week together! Our teen kids loved having the bunk house for their own space. Creek was beautiful and great to sit and relax. Will definitely be returning for future trips!

About the host
Hosted by Jake Short
Sixth generation Texans, we returned to the Texas Hill Country in 2010 and began raising Spanish Goats and growing a variety of fruit trees. In 2019 we ventured into vacation rentals with 3 cabins in Vanderpool, TX near Lost Maples State Park on our family ranch. Then in 2020 we added Vista Royale, Casita Corta and in 2021 the Lodge at Falling Rock in Mountain Home, Texas.
Why they chose this property
This 4000 +/- sq ft home sits on the banks of Johnson Creek. Shaded by centuries old oak and pecan trees, the rock patio provides a shaded and breezy place to sit and relax.
