About this property

Amazing Views at Cozy Mountain Retreat

Enjoy spectacular long range mountain views in this idyllic home away from home. After a full day of outdoor adventures and culinary delights, you will return to your mountain retreat in a private gated community that backs up to National Forest and protected watershed. Here, you will have opportunities to experience gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, stargazing on clear nights and observe the area wildlife, all from the comfort of your fully equipped, clean and comfortable mountain getaway.

Located in Laurel Ridge, a gated mountain community with paved roads and long range mountain views located 5 miles to the town of Black Mountain, 6 miles to the town of Montreat and 20 miles to the City of Asheville. The community backs up to the Pisgah National Forest and the Asheville Watershed and is home to an abundance of wildlife including black bear, deer, turkey, and tons of birds. Imagine waking up to a symphony of songbirds, hawks and woodpeckers. The views over the mountain valley and the peace and serenity of the location make this a one of a kind vacation rental in this price range. Enjoy a unique mountain retreat, close to all the great attractions the area has to offer yet difficult to leave because you can’t beat this view!

Downtown Black Mountain is just 5 miles away and is a quintessential small mountain town, with a charming and walkable downtown, a thriving arts and crafts scene, unique restaurants, great shopping, an ever growing number of microbreweries, and—at 2,405 feet in elevation—access to incredible outdoor adventure. The Lake Eden Arts Festival is 7 miles away and don’t miss Lake Tomahawk, just 4 miles away, for a great view of the 7 Sisters Mountain Range reflecting off of the lake!

The town of Montreat is just 6 miles away and is an even smaller, even more adorable small mountain town, centered around Montreat College. Here you will find some of the best hiking trails in the area, great mountain biking trails, a sweet park with a creek running through it for the kids and easy walking trails through the neighborhood.

Downtown Asheville, just 20 miles away, is easily accessible by car or call a rideshare to safely enjoy the many breweries and eateries. Other Asheville destinations of note: The Asheville Airport is 25 miles away, The Biltmore Estate is 23 miles away and the Grove Park Inn is 18 miles away.

Our home is located in a private gated mountain community. You can walk the beautiful neighborhood roads to find the Hemlock Nature Preserve Trail. This trail meanders along the Laurel Branch Creek with ancient Hemlocks, Oaks and Poplars in residence. Pack a lunch and setup by the creek at the neighborhood picnic area or head back to the well stocked kitchen to prepare a home made meal to enjoy with a glass of wine on the deck with the epic views.

The kitchen is stocked with everything we could think of you might need. You just bring your food and drink! There is a regular drip coffee maker, microwave, gas oven/cooktop as well as a propane gas grill (available upon request).

The beds are all made up prior to your arrival and we provide clean towels and linens.
We take cleaning our home very seriously and pride ourselves on providing one of the cleanest vacation homes you will ever stay in. We air out the space in between guests (typically 24 hours or more), use the highest heat setting for washing linens and towels, disinfect all surfaces including counters, door knobs, light switches, remotes, railings, and clean the floors in between each guest.

Your hosts and 2 dogs live on the floor above the rental space. There is some minimal noise transfer between floors. We will respect your privacy during your stay but will be around and available (with some limitations) to answer questions, make recommendations or just say "hello" during your stay. We enjoy meeting new people and also understand that some people just want to do their own thing.

If you have any questions before booking, feel free to ask. We will respond within a few hours unless we are out on a trail or on an epic bike ride!

This was our second visit and just like the first time, it did not disappoint. Beautiful location with the most stunning mountain views. Plenty of space for the entire family and extremely clean. Planning on coming back every year!

This beautiful, stunning home was absolutely perfect in every way! The home itself was wonderful, both inside and out. The setting in the mountains and the home itself was were just what we needed for a relaxing yet adventuresome trip. Melissa was the perfect host and provided helpful tips regarding restaurants, Asheville sights and fun side trips. We truly loved every minute and encourage all Asheville/Black Mountain travelers to check it out -- you won't be disappointed!!

Black Mountain/Ridgecrest Retreat
We were there for a conference at Ridgecrest. The house was perfect for our stay. I missed the detail that the owner lives upstairs and we only heard them early in the morning from our back bedroom. The views are amazing and the house is well stocked and furnished. We were so pleased with the stay there!

Black Mountain stay
Melissa has a lovely place with views as advertised. She and her partner were quite friendly and helpful. The lodging itself is quite nice and comfortable. Plenty of small touches with extra cooking and food items and adequate toiletries. The location is a nice spot to feel somewhat removed yet be able to enjoy Black Mountain, which is a quaint town only 20-30 minutes from Asheville and not far from sites like Chimney Rock. I would definitely take my family again.

We WILL be back!
Melissa and Caz are amazing hosts! The view is breathtaking (even though our weekend was after the fall colors all faded). Everything is perfectly set up for a relaxing long weekend: comfy couches for movie watching, great table for eating and playing games and enough space in both bedrooms and baths. It is a wonderfully quiet location to take a quick jaunt up the Blue Ridge Pkwy, see Biltmore and do some shopping in Black Mountain. We started taking about the next time we would return before our weekend ended!
