About this property

Mountain Cabin-no hurricane damage; we would love your support!

* If we don't have the travel dates you're hoping for, or you're looking for a getaway with less bedrooms, please check out our other nearby cabins: vrbo listing #: 464821 and 3376684.

Jack's Retreat - completed Feb 2018! Our cabin provides a peaceful, private getaway in the mountains, but is still only a 23 minute drive to downtown Asheville. It offers 3 bedrooms (master on the main floor and 2 bedrooms on the lower level).

The master bedroom has a king bed and the en-suite bathroom has a glass shower with a pebble-floor. And a big rain shower-head. The downstairs bedrooms both have one queen bed and share a "Jack and Jill" bathroom with a tiled tub/shower.

The cabin faces south, so sunshine is abundant on sunny days and sunrises/sunsets can be viewed from the rockers and swing on the decks.

The hot tub is accessible from the lower level deck - it sits out in the open; you can enjoy a nightly soak under the stars or savor the mountain views during the day.

We named this cabin after our son, Jack, born 2014. He played a big part in the building process.

With all modern amenities, one won't need to leave the cabin, but the surrounding area has so much to offer to the adventurous at heart. Conveniently located 23 minutes to downtown Asheville (Merrimon Avenue exit off I-240), 18 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 24 minutes to Biltmore Estate, 20 minutes to Black Mountain, 32 minutes to Chimney Rock/Lake Lure and 40 minutes to Hendersonville, this quiet getaway is still close to all the attractions and activities.

Check out our other two cabins:
Tyler's Hideout, a cozy one-bedroom cabin, which you pass half-way up the driveway, is named after our middle son, Tyler; vrbo listing id: 3376684. Both cabins are private and have their own parking areas.
Lazy Bear Cabin, a 2-bedroom cabin, just a few minutes away; vrbo listing id: 464821

About the host

Jay and Lisa met in Asheville as teenagers. We both love the outdoors, love to travel, but most of all we love to call Asheville home. The mountains and views in this area are what refresh our souls - such a gorgeous area to live and play. We welcome you to come experience Asheville and everything the city and surrounding areas have to offer! We're pretty confident you will not be disappointed by our cabin. And Asheville itself!

Why they chose this property

Because we love it and believe you will, too. :o) We chose this piece of land for the privacy, woods and mountain view. The rest is history - took us 14 months to build and complete (children can slow jobs down quite a bit, we discovered). But nonetheless, our family of four was involved in every aspect of construction.

What makes this property unique

Since the outdoors and nature are a huge part of our family's lives, we selected bear decor to compliment the stunning animal that shares the Ashevile area mountains with us. Every now and then a bear may be spotted during the summer and fall months. But plenty of birds, bats and owls (both at night), etc. can be seen or heard. We have a resident lizard that sun-bathes on the rocks, and a couple blue jays that have made this spot their home.
