We had a wonderful time at the property. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, and the hot tub was a perfect addition after a long day mountain biking!
Owners were great at communicating and property was exactly as listed. Neighbors were great and you can't beat how close it was to Dodgeridge.Clean and well stocked. Would absolutely stay here again.
We enjoyed ourselves during our stay. Although there was no snow but pinecrest lake just a short drive. The own was very helpful and friendly. We could not ask more for it. Our family and dogs had great time there.
Lovely location & excellent communication from hosts
We reserved this space to attend a family reunion in the area. After an initial mix up on my end, the hosts were extremely patient and accommodating to us to ensure that we had the best experience.
I'd definitely recommend this space to couples, families, or friend groups.
This Eh-Frame had all the conveniences of home making our stay very comfortable. It was wonderful to relax in this quiet home and neighborhood after returning from enjoying the great outdoors the surrounding area has to offer. We would definitely stay again.
Wife and I and our 2 month old stayed at this great location. It’s right off of hwy 108, 10 minutes to Pinecrest, and 15 minutes to Twain Harte.
Very comfortable, has all necessities needed for a week stay. The neighbor was also very friendly.
This Cabin was the perfect size for our family of 5 and the proximity to Dodge Ridge was very convenient. The cabin had extra mattresses under each bed upstairs, plenty of linens and towels, and a relaxing and clean hot tub to relax in after a long day on the slopes. The kitchen was well stocked and the fire pit and deck space made time at the cabin very enjoyable. The owners made check with a key pad entry very easy.
We had a great stay, cabin is cute and comfortable and really close to Pinecrest which is a beautiful place. Only negative is the patio door, it is very hard to open (hubby and son were the only ones who could open it) which we thought it would break the glass while trying, so only 2 times because we didn’t want that risk. The other door other door is in the bathroom and if someone is in the shower, you’re trapped inside or outside. We did notice it said in the notes the door had issues and was going to replaced but the notes looked old and I don’t think it’s safe with only 1 proper functioning exit. Fix that and we’ll be back!
I truly dislike giving a low star review but I feel my decision to stay here was partially based on the 10/10 reviews so I wanted to give my honest review so others might be aware. ProsExcellent communication with hosts and they were quick to order a replacement coffee pot when the top to original one went missing prior to my arrival.Beautiful area! Nice table outside with an umbrella but would recommed a tablecloth since it’s metal and got hot.Drive to Pinecrest is short and sweet. They have a trampoline and climbing tree, a rope swing for kids, and hot tub but we didn’t use them.ConsSliding door. I opened it once and then was afraid I couldn’t close it. Once closed I didn’t attempt it again. It’s super old and I think all of the rollers on the bottom are missing.Extremely dark cabin, even in the daytime, we struggled to see well enough to play a card game while doing some laundry.Scavenger hunt to find the light switches. Door on shower easily goes off the track. If someone’s in the bathroom, and sider can’t be opened, you have to wait until they're out of the bathroom to walk outside. (First step into the cabin from outside is into the bathroom.)Feels like an earthquake when someone walks upstairs (these were 140# people)Exposed raw sheetrock and a lot of electrical hanging throughout.

Hi Linda,
Thanks for taking the time to write your experience. I'm so sorry that it wasn't a better trip for you.
For the benefit of future guests, I'll address your notes as best I can.
The lighting, the sliding door and the bathroom are all slated for replacement this fall. The new lighting work will also better finish the upper edges of the Sheetrock on the main floor.
I'm not sure what you mean about "a lot of electrical hanging throughout". There is one tied-off lead to the generator (near the hot tub) that's not in use, or live. We certainly wouldn't leave any safety hazards unattended.
As for the "earthquake", that description sounds a little strong.
Although we're constantly making small and large improvements to our little place in the mountains, we also do our best to set expectations for what it is. We believe that our solid history of 5-star reviews is based on accurately setting expectations - not competing with 5-star hotels.
The hope is that our guests find it charming and comfortable, for a reasonable rate.
With respect,
Brit & Alan
A little hard to find but the owner mentioned that. It was just my 5yr old son and I. The house was cozy and had everything you'll need in the kitchen. Coffee + grinder was a plus .Could've used a couple more Bathroom shower towels though.
The hot tub was a hit. And there was a cool rope swing along with a tree climb right next to the property.
I give 4 star's only for the fact that the 2 bedrooms upstairs was significantly hot. And also the restroom shower was a bit dated and small. I'm 5'9" 180lbs and the shower was small for me. Could use a good upgrade that'll fit nicely in that bathroom.
Other then that the host was easy to contact and answered all my questions.
Had a bit of an ant problem which was why we kept everything in the fridge..
No TV but the projector was good. Could've used some better curtains to darken the view on the projector screen better..
Because we didn't use the upstairs we treated it like a studio.
Ps. Don't leave any food out otherwise the ants will claim it.

Thanks for the thoughtful review Ricardo.
The drawbacks you noted are things we're actively working on. We've talked to our housekeeper about leaving the appropriate amount of shower and beach towels. We've already purchased a new shower and will install it before winter 2024.
We have a good pest control person, but every so often the ants do surge for a brief period.
We are researching A/C options for upstairs, for the peak of summer. We hope to have it sorted out for summer 2025.
We hope your next visit will earn a perfect 5 stars!
Cute cabin with everything you need. All beds are in the loft, so if you are unsteady, not the place for you. Overall, we had a lovely time. Bonus got to see some of the first snow of the season. Thank you!
Stayed here during thanksgiving week with my family. What a wonderful place and location!! Interior was very tastefully decorated with a lovely living room area with wood stove and great beds and bedding. Loved the projector for a great movie experience! Well equipped kitchen. Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and the gas fire pit too. Just fantastic. Local area is great too - from a lovely forest service roads within walking distance to Pinecrest Lake and drive over Sonara Pass. Brit was very helpful and responsive too - thank you! Would definitely come again.
We had a wonderful long weekend at the Eh Frame. Alan and Brit were so helpful in providing us all the information we could have needed and have stocked their place with all the amenities you might need. Quiet neighborhood nestled in the woods with easy access to hiking yet close enough to some restaurants. We loved our time there and can't wait to come back!

I had a much needed break from reality in this amazing house. We grocery shopped, used the hot tub, drank amazing coffee, and disconnected from the world.
One of the best healing trips of my life!

Brit & Alan are originally from Canada. They now, with their daughter, call Santa Cruz home. Alan is a product designer and Brit works in construction of affordable housing, and they both love to surf and play in the snow.
Why they chose this property
We discovered and fell in love with Cold Springs in early 2021. Then we found our dream cabin - now dubbed "The eh Frame". It's cozy and stylish, ideally situated and easy to access - on it's flat lot.
What makes this property unique
The proximity to Dodge Ridge is surprising; it's a 10 minute drive. It's a refreshing change from the Tahoe crowds and a much easier drive as well.
