Quinta de Peixe Rei is a modern Villa (built in 1980, remodeled in 2001), with views of the sea (Ria Formosa) and the mountain (Cerro de Sao Miguel).

Located in the center of a vast orange grove, the Villa is surrounded by a magnificent garden, with a sunny section, around the pool, and a shady paradise under an ancient mulberry tree.

Around the Barbeque, a shaded area where your grilled foods can jump from the fire into your plate. The Villa has 3 bedrooms, with Heat Pumps in the Master and Second Bedroom and Living Room. Master Bedroom also with an in suite bathroom; Bedroom number 2 with a double bed;Third Bedroom with two single beds and a ceiling fan.

The kitchen, with a balcony overlooking the Olhao Islands, is equipped with dish-washer, micro-wave, and all the dishes and utensils for 6 people. Laundry is available in the back, but is shared with the owners.

The living room has satellite TV.

Simply the best

What a wonderful week we spent at this fabulously located house. Martin and Serillia were the best hosts anyone could ask for. The house and gardens were just lovely and the house was fully equipped. Role on our next visit. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly relaxing fortnight

We had a lovely holiday here. Villa and gardens were beautiful and well maintained. Pool was clean and great poolside furniture. Fresh oranges and figs to pick daily. We couldn’t fault the owners who were onsite to help when needed but also allowed us our privacy. Thoroughly enjoyable and would definitely recommend.

This was our second stay at this lovely villa, the first time was over 15 years ago and the same first-class service by Martin & Serilia had not changed from the first contact, warm greeting on arrival, the provision of a regular supply of oranges and figs. The property itself is clean, bright, spacious with everything needed for a seamless stay. The pool is fantastic and was used every day, even after a day at the beach. What topped the stay was permission to invite some friends to stay for the day and have a BBQ with us and use the pool. That was class from Martin & Serilia. Thank you both so much for a wonderful stay.

Fast noch schöner als auf den Bildern.Wir haben eine wunderschöne Woche in der herrlichen großzügigen Villa verbracht. Die Lage auf einer riesigen Plantage ist in außergewöhnlich ruhiger Lage mit herrlicher Weitsicht bis ans Meer. Sehr gute und hilfsbereite Aufnahme durch die Familie und Bewohner.Wir werden mit Sicherheit wieder kommen.

Notre villa était très bien située pour faire toutes nos excursions, tout près d'Olhao (11 kms) avec ses 2 marchés couverts (Viande- légumes- fruits -épices) et l'autre (poisson). Des grandes et moyennes surfaces, le marché le samedi. Nos propriétaires très charmants nous offraient des figues et des cageots d'oranges, personnes très discrètes et toujours à notre service. Nous y sommes restés 15 jours, une femme de ménage est venue au bout d'une semaine pour nous changer nos draps, remettre des serviettes propres et faire le ménage. Des vrais vacances dans une région maginifique. Quand à la propriété très bien entretenue, rien à dire une très grande piscine à débordement avec une vue magnifique , petit coin repas dans un patiot avec barbecue trop bien ...

Dream holiday

We stayed at Quinta de Peixe Rei for a week to celebrate the end of teenage daughters major school exams and it rates as one of our very best family holidays ever. The villa was perfect for our needs, plenty of space, very comfortable, in a traditional style and with everything required. Balconies all round meant you could chase or hide from the heat of the day as you wished. Martin and Serilia occupy the ground floor of the villa, via a completely separate access, which meant we had the comfort of knowing they were there if needed yet we barely saw them - both attentive and discreet. The gardens and pool really set this property apart. The infinity pool was crystal clear and perfectly maintained. The gardens had been further developed from the photos we saw before we booked and are absolutely pristine, a little oasis in a very dry part of the world. The description says that the gardens are magnificent but we hadn’t quite appreciated how beautiful they were until we arrived. Clearly an awful lot of hard work! Located rurally the property is very close to the wonderful Olhão and we recommend regular visits to the morning markets to pick up fresh food for the BBQ - in a sheltered corner of the garden. We had expected to roam far afield, but the villa and gardens/pool were so nice we tended to explore nearby for half a day and spend the rest of the day by the pool. This area of the Algarve is a perfect mix of interesting places to visit, with history, cafes, gelaterias and restaurants aplenty, without being too touristy and in the end we only made it as far as the Spanish border to the east, Loule to the west and Culatra to the south. We’ll be recommending this villa to friends and family, especially as we could fly from our local airport and so have lunch at home and supper in Quinta de Peixe Rei. 25 mins drive from Faro airport (using Martin’s expert directions) with multiple supermarket options enroute. We think that a hire car is essential. Enjoy.

Amazing property, well equipped and a beautiful location.

This was an amazing trip, the hosts are very hospitable. The location is very tranquil and beautiful. The house is very spacious and has everything a family needs. There is plenty to do nearby. I would definitely recommend this property.

What a fantastic villa!

We stayed at the villa Peixe Rei for number of days together with two close Portuguese friends. We cannot speak highly enough of the villa. It is very spacious, comfortable, extremely clean, and had everything we could possibly have needed including an excellent BBQ area and a nicely located hammock where one could take a lazy summer nap. The views of the surrounding village of Quelfes and of the orange orchards from the balcony and from the pool area make the villa very exceptional and an excellent choice. The villa is very close to Olhao (the market there is an excellent place for fresh fish, meat, and vegetables) and to Spain – Ayamonte, which is a town and municipality located in the province of Huelva. There we had the best Paella so far! It was indeed a stay that we will not forget and certainly we will return back on our first opportunity. Our two daughters really loved the place and the pool. The cats and the friendly dogs provided that extra excitement which made the stay a relaxing holiday and a memorable one. The hospitality provided by the hosts Martin and Serilia, Maria and Luis certainly exceeded our expectations. They were very generous in providing us with a constant supply of freshly picked figs, tangerines, and oranges from their oranges groves situated next to the villa. We really enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend the villa.

Idyllic!

We spent the month of April in the smaller Villa Pavoes. The villa is very clean and very well equipped. The pool was great and got warmer the further we got into the month. As to location, well it was just perfect. Very rural but still close to Olhao. To come outside first thing in the morning to the smell of orange blossom was amazing. It was lovely to be able to pick a few fresh oranges each morning and they were the best we’ve tasted. We were made to feel so welcome by Maria, Luis, Martin and Serilia. They offer very good advice on where to go and what to do and are always available to help with any issues. A visit to Olhao market (every morning apart from Sundays) is a must. The fish and vegetables couldn’t be any fresher. We would recommend the villa to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in beautiful, traditional surroundings. A car is definitely beneficial to enjoy the area.

A month of golf in the Algarve

We have just spent a month at Quinta de Pixie Rei in Quelfes,just outside Olhao.We enjoyed our stay very much.The property is very nice surrounded by gorgeous citrus groves with the sweetest oranges and tangerines we have ever tasted. We shared the spacious apartment with another couple and we had lots of room.The pool area is particularly inviting and even in the heat of the day shade is provided by a mature mulberry tree. The two men were here to golf and found the course at Benamor Golf in Tavista a very pleasant course and quite convenient.The family were gracious hosts and were most helpful.We would recommend this property to others a car or two are essential unless you are here to relax at the villa and swim and read then the local bus would probably be adequate.

We had the pleasure of staying here for five weeks . Enjoyed every minute of it. It was like staying with your favourite relatives. Maria and Louis were wonderful hosts always making sure we were comfortable and had a supply of oranges, grapefruit and lemons from their orchard on hand. It was very centrally located to both East and West end of the Algarve. It was our first trip to the Algarve and what an introduction. It was also the coolest winter on record and we still managed to enjoy every minute. We would go back in a heatbeat!

A wonderful place to stay

We just returned home to Toronto after spending a month in this villa that is located in an orange orchard. The location encompasses the best of both worlds. You feel like you are in the country but are just a few minutes from an ocean town with plenty of restaurants and things to do.(Like a short ferry ride to small sun filled islands) We stayed with another couple and enjoyed the spaciousness of the apartment. It was clean and roomy with all the furnishings and utensils that one needs. Every morning we drank freshly squeezed orange juice from oranges delivered by our hosts. Martin and Serilia are wonderful knowledgeable hosts who can help guide you to many interesting cities and towns in the Algarve. We highly recommend this villa for anyone who likes to relax in modern comforts,swim in the pool and use the villa as a base to explore nearby attractions.

Very memorable holiday...

We stayed at Quinta de Peixe Rei for 6 weeks with another couple. It is exactly as you see. Suited our every need, the views were incredible. One thing you cannot see is how comfortable this Villa was, or the scent of orange blossoms that greeted us every morning. We explored many of the small towns of the Algarve, but we always felt, at the end of the day when we were sitting in the living room, or at the kitchen table, that "...we were home". We felt this was our home while we were there. Our hosts Martin and Serilia, Maria and Luis, were wonderful, their knowledge of the area, the history of Portugal and their hospitality were well above our expectations. It was one of our most memorable and enjoyable holidays.

We can't say enough good things about this villa. Four of us spent 6 weeks at Quinta Peixie Rei and absolutely LOVED it! It was a perfect fit for us. The location was wonderful. We were able to explore the entire Algarve coast and as far north as Evora and east to Seville, Spain and still make it back to Peixie Rei for the night. The villa is exactly as pictured and even better. Everything is well maintained and kept clean. The owners are marvellous and we thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality. I would love to return with the entire family and rent the converted stable and pool area as well. We found plenty of great places to eat and explore. One of our BEST EVER holidays!!!

This Villa was the highlight of our trip. It was nice to come home from daily Algarve adventures.

One of the better holidays we have had to date. The property is well kept, comfortable and very affordable. Martin and Cerilia were great and very helpful. With the bus stop 5 minutes from the Villa there was no need to rent a car. The Villa made for a great home base, it's central location made easy access to any part of the Algarve, and we were able to be "Home" in time for dinner and a dip in the pool. The Market in Olhao is a great place for fresh meat,fish and vegetables. Five minutes from the villa each Sunday, the BBQ Chicken dinner at Cafe Martins (no relation) is a must. We would recommend this to anyone, without any hesitation. Very affordable for families and small groups (3 bedrooms) A relaxing holiday for those who want to hang by the pool and a busy holiday for the adventurous. We had the best of both worlds. We will be back.

This Villa is awesome...

This home is situated in the middle of a citrus plantation which we were free to help ourselves to every day. The home is lovely, very clean and very comfortable. It is roomy...there were 4 of us staying there for a month and it was such a pleasure to come back to this villa at the end of a long day of sight-seeing. Comfy beds!! Thank you to the Silva Family, Maria and Luis and Walter. We could not have asked for a better home to stay in. What a treat to have our morning coffees on any of the 4 balconies overlooking the immaculate grounds and pool. The village of Quelfes where this villa is located is so relaxing. The small port city of Olhao is within a 10 minute drive from the villa. We are still basking in the great feelings we had from staying here and in the Algarve 2 months ago.

Lovely villa, great pool, perfect relaxing vacation

Perfect for a very relaxing holiday in a beautiful location. The three-bedroom villa is spacious and well-equipped. The pool is great, with good views, in lovely, shaded gardens, and was the focal point of our stay. Martin and Cerilla were perfect hosts, quick to help and advise, never intrusive. At 30 minutes from Faro, five from Olhao's shops and restaurants, the villa is well-located. We would definitely go back as a family, and perhaps next time in a larger group using the converted stable too with its second pool. This is really an idyllic place for a comfortable and peaceful vacation, for adults, kids and teenagers alike.

My wife Serilia and I lived in Canada many years, but spend the summers in Portugal holidaying in this wonderful property that her parents built.
Recently we decided to spend more time here and renovated the property to make it an official "Agricultural Tourism" which is now duly registered with the Portuguese Tourism Registry with number 11220.
I do some of the gardening and show the clients how to pick their own oranges for fresh Juice when in season. She does all of the decorating, and helps people try portuguese recipies. We both answer all questions about the area and help the guests in their search to discover the Algarve, all the way to Spain (40 minutes away) or to Sagres in the Atlantic Coast (90 minutes away).

This area of the Algarve is close to Spain, more agricultural. The Villa is surrounded by an orange grove of 7,000 trees. When in season, unlimited orange juice to be had!

What makes this property unique

Very quiet area of the Algarve. The site is away from the main road, totally secluded but with an amazing view of the mountain and the sea.
