About the host
Hosted by Laura A. Allison
Our love of the area stems all the way back to our childhood when we were frequent visitors from the Chicago area. My family loves the Geneva Lakes area with its abundant natural beauty, and so many opportunities for outdoor recreation. After we established ourselves in our professional lives in the Chicago area, it became important to us to secure a home base in the Lake Geneva area. So, we built a second home to enjoy, and because it is close to Chicago are able to use it frequently. When we are at the house, the entire family is able to "reset" because of its tranquility, and modern simplicity.
Why they chose this property
This property is in a peaceful setting, and the perfect base for exploring all of the activities, events, and natural wonder that the area has to offer.
What makes this property unique
There are many wonderful benefits of staying at our newly constructed house. It offers a split level layout that allows for parents to relax while kids play and frolic on another level of the house. The location is superb, on the lakeside of Geneva Street (main street in Williams Bay). It is walking distance to the lake, fun activities in the Village, restaurants, public beach, Kishwauketoe nature conservancy for hiking, downhill and cross country skiing, top rated spa, boat rental, music festivals, championship golf courses, farmer's markets.
FUN THINGS TO DO IN ALL SEASONS!!!!
Summer:
Beaches:
Williams Bay Public Beach: super clean, two swim piers, beach house, food vendors, walking distance from the house.
Fontana Public Beach: an expansive sandy beach with a modern beach house, and concession stand. Kept immaculately clean, as tractors rake the sands every morning in the wee hours.
Riviera Public Beach in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin: a historic beach, with the Riviera Ballroom as a backdrop. The beach is connected to an expansive parklike lawn with benches, and mature trees overlooking the lake, known as Library Park.
Farmer's Markets: from May through October featuring the seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and cooked delicacies. The favorite farmer's markets are Lake Geneva (2 miles away), Williams Bay on Fridays (walking distance at Edgewater Park), and Pearce's Farm Stand (1 1/2 miles away): Pearce's has the best sweet corn, and home baked goods while often having live music on the weekends.
Antique Flea Markets: The Elkhorn Flea Market is at the Walworth County Fairgrounds and conducts 3 flea markets through the summer featuring many renowned antique dealers, and mom and pop sellers. There are many wonderful food trucks that make a day at the flea market a festival.
Lake Geneva Antique Mall
Delavan Antique Mall
Shopping: There are so many unique shops in Lake Geneva. They are worth a visit in and of themselves.
