About this property

A Dream by the Stream-Log Cabin on 10 private acres, pond, stream, dog friendly!

A Dream by the Stream is a very private and rustic 2 Br/2Ba log cabin overlooking a bold stream on 10 beautiful and remote acres with walking trails, a pond with dock, campfire pit, and amazing garden stonescapes. Our 750 sq ft. Cabin offers WiFi, streaming TV, central AC and heat, fully stocked kitchen, coffee provided, towels, comfortable bed and quality linens. We are 1/2 mile from the North Fork of New River. It's a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy the mountains. Polite dogs welcome (limit 2) It's a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy the mountains!
Please note: this is in Ashe County and while we are not on top of a mountain, the elevation is 3100 feet so we do get more wintery weather than a place like Asheville (which is only 2000 feet). The main roads are well maintained in the winter, and our gravel road is not very steep but you do need AWD/4WD in the winter in case of unpredictable snowy/icy conditions.
Note: the cabin is 20 minutes from Elk Knob State Park, 35 minutes from downtown Boone, 30 minutes from West Jefferson, 25 minutes from Mountain City, TN.
Also note: cell phone service is spotty in the mountains. Verizon covers most of Ashe County, but not all national carriers do. It's a good idea to set up wifi-enabled calling on your cell phone.

A perfect week!
This cabin had everything we needed for the week and was clean and comfortable. We liked to read on the porch or by the stream on the "fairy trail". Our dogs had fun exploring the trails with us or just going for a quick stroll around the pond. We explored the towns of Lansing, West Jefferson and Boone. We hiked at Elk Knob (beautiful) and played a round of disc golf at Ashe County Park in Jefferson. We rounded out week out with a concert at Appalachian State in Boone. Our daily outings were close enough to still have plenty of time to relax/read/hike at the cabin! We hope to come back again!

A trip for our dog Halo
We decided we wanted to take our dog, Halo, on a trip to see snow. He is a husky/samoyed and is getting up in age. We wanted him to see the snow. Well it didn't snow, but he loved the steams on the property. He would walk in them and drink the freezing water. We did take him to the ski area so he did get to see the snow. The cabin was wonderful. Very dog friendly. We hiked the different trails on the property, listened to the wind and the rushing stream. It was very relaxing. There are blankets and toys for your dog to use. Everything was described just like it was. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We never got a chance to try out the wood burning stove or the fire pit, we just ran out of time. The property is remote and quiet. The bed were comfortable and everything was very clean. We took many walks with our pup and i think he enjoyed the trip. Our host was very quick to respond if we had a question. We throughly enjoyed our stay at dream by the stream.

Birthday adventure!
Spent a few days touring the foliage and celebrating my wife’s birthday. Had a spectacular time and love the cabin. It’s our second visit. We love the property.
