Wonderful House-Wonderful Memories

This is our third time renting this house and we still love everything about it. Spacious rooms, hot tub, and a dock we practically live on during the day. Our grandkids have learned the love of fishing, kayaking, and boating here and of course the memories. I’m sure a fourth visit will be in our future.

Smith Mountain Lake Vacation

Pictures do not do this house justice!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Very spacious and well kept property! Located in a great cove for swimming and relaxing! We enjoyed our week on the lake and appreciate the use of your lovely home!

The Frances

Beautiful house, great location!

Great house. Very nice dock. Big deck perfect for barbequing. Hot tub was fun. Easy walk to the water. Large basement with pool table although the weather was so nice we were rarely inside.

Great fun on SML

Our extended family had a great week at smith mountain lake! The house had plenty of room to spread out, downstairs ping pong, air hockey, and pool table were a hit for kids and adults. Easy pontoon boat rental next to Jake’s is reachable by owner-provided canoe or kayak, very convenient!

Beautiful home

This home is beautiful and in a peaceful cove. We loved the lay out of the house and there is lots of rooms for a large family. Jake's restaurant is in the same cove and they are great. The only negative would be that the owners need to update the pictures because those are from 2009 and there is no lake view from the deck.

Wonderful Experience

House was lovely and perfect for a family vacation. Kids had a blast fishing and playing with the water toys. Adults enjoyed the family time. It was wonderfully relaxing. Convenient location to Marina’s and grocery. Chuck reached out to us to make sure everything was good to go! Would highly recommend.

Perfect Family Friendly Home!!!

The house exceeded our expectations!! We stayed two families with four kids ages 2-15 and everyone had an “awesome” time. The house is very spacious with plenty of space for multiple families. The children didn’t want to leave and said this was the BEST Memorial Weekend vacation. The cove is perfect and safe for kids to kayak and swim. In addition, all of the kids caught several fish off the deck. Our only regret was that the trip felt too short with only 3 nights…we should have reserved an entire week!! Looking forward to our next reservation. Thank you Chuck for sharing your house with us!

Wonderful summer break

Wonderful house/property! Chuck and Samantha were great to communicate with and very helpful. We had three separate families throughout the week and the layout of the house is very conducive for either everyone being together or for splitting into different groups at times. Being in the wake free cove is so nice for activities right off the dock (SUP, kayak/canoe, swimming and fishing). But the end of the no wake zone is only a few minutes away. Smith Mountain Lake is beautiful! And very large. We look forward to many more vacations at the property!!!

Beautiful setting

The house has many amenities for easy living. It is close to the Food Lion shopping center and the Route 122 bridge. Unfortunately, the air hockey game was broken. Otherwise, the house and grounds are comfortable and scenic. (Taking the trash bags to the dump is a chore, though, I do understand why it has to be done.) A lot bigger than the pictures indicate.

Great location, great property!

We were very impressed with this property. The driveway is very steep but it did cut down on the walk to the dock/lake which we appreciated. The walkway to the dock was great also as it was stone and graded. We appreciated having electricity and the mini fridge at the dock as well. Jake's Place which is right around the corner (on the water) from the house and a great restaurant to visit. We had plenty of space for everyone and the house was gorgeous! The downstairs was huge and very open with lots of gaming choices to keep everyone happy. We also appreciated having access to the garage for a place to keep groceries and extra lake things. Lastly the house is centrally located with easy access to Food Lion and Bridgewater Plaza.

Family vacation

The house was beautiful and very clean the kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed to enjoy a week at the lake. The grandkids enjoyed the pool table and the ping pong table unfortunately the air hockey game didn’t work. The only negative is the campers across the cove were very loud not the peaceful cove I was expecting. Chuck the picture on line show a view of the water from the house unfortunately the tree and bushes are overgrown to the point it’s very difficult to see the lake from the house. Overall we have a wonderful time and looking forward to returning in the future.

Perfect!

Our family of 6 had the perfect summer vacation at this wonderful home. The home is in a great location. Looking at the pictures on the website, we were expecting a beautiful home, but our expectations were exceeded when we arrived. The walk to the dock is an easy one, unlike other places we have stayed on the lake. The home has obviously been well taken care of. Everything was extremely clean and up to date. The hot tub was an added bonus! Our kids enjoyed it each night we were there! We also appreciated the use of the kayaks and canoe. We had so much fun with them! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Chuck and his wife. They were both very nice to work with and made sure we knew if we needed anything at all, to not hesitate to call and ask. We will definitely be returning to this awesome place!

4th of July Regulars

In two short days, my husband, three children and I will be joining my three sisters, spouses, children, and mother at The Frances for our 4th consecutive 4th of July. We have loved every minute of our time there. The kids count down the days every year. The cove is perfect for small children in that we don't have to worry about excessive boat traffic. Very few boats other than kayaks, canoes and early morning fishing boats go passed the dock. We are very excited about the Halesford Harbour being open just down the cove next to Jakes Place. We have reserved our boat from there for this trip and are thrilled to only have to kayak or canoe over to pick it up:) The location is a perfect middle between our drive from Charlotte NC and other family in the DC area. The owners have been wonderful. Whenever we have had a need or concern, they have been extremely helpful and responded immediately! My sisters and I are thrilled to have found a vacation spot that everyone loves and where the kids/cousins can make memories they'll have for the rest of their lives. We have and will continue to recommend this property to our other family and friends! Thank you to the owners for sharing this beautiful home with us!

Great Location, beautiful home

Pros - This home is located in a great spot with a quiet cove and is only about 300 yards across from Jake's Place restaurant. Short, 15 min drive to Bridgewater plaza by car. Easy in and out location to the main channel if you have a boat. Really liked having 2 kings for 2 adult couples, a bunk room which had amazingly comfortable mattresses, and a basement room ideal for teens. Lots of fun was had with the pool table, ping pong, kayaks, canoe, and fishing off the dock. The hot tub was great for relaxing in the evenings. Bathrooms were clean. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Cons - A lot of SML properties don't provide linens or towels but this was the first time out of more than 20 rentals that I chose to bring our own. Won't do that again as it was a pain. Use the linen service instead. Listed as no pets allowed which was a deciding factor in booking over another property, but we swept the kitchen floor and made a quite a pile of black dog hair. A quick clean of the downstairs created an even larger pile. The two teens who slept in the basement were so bad after 2 nights we needed an urgent care visit and steroids were prescribed. The 2 pre-teens who slept upstairs were fine. Two of the 4 adults struggled a bit as well. So we spent most of our time outside after the first few days which was fine. Overall, it's a great property.

Quiet Cove and Boat Friendly

Had a great vacation with our family- the house was clean and well kept! Enjoyed grilling out, playing pool, and relaxing in the hot tub. The 2 large entertainment areas upstairs and downstairs with sectionals were great for conversation, board games, and TV. Boat friendly - we used Hales Ford Boat Ramp about 15-20 minutes away to put in and pull out of the water, and tied up to the floating dock at the house during our stay. House is at the end of a cove in a no-wake zone, so no problems with docking in the water. Restaurant with docking and on-water ethanol free gas are very close in the same cove. Bridgewater plaza is a short boat ride away and has plenty of restaurants, shopping, and activities!

Wonderful Lake Getaway!

We had such a great time during our week at this property. I couldn't believe how huge the dock was, table and chairs and recliners and everything. We hung out in the dock in the shade, or floated in the sun. We rented a boat and were able to find great skiing right outside of the no wake zone. They even provided kayaks, and just down the cove we saw egrets, deer, turtles and all kinds of birds. At night the kids enjoyed the pool table, hot tub, and ping pong, there was plenty of space to spread out and something for everyone. The kitchen was well laid out and very functional. There was a nice outdoor table (under cover) for family outdoor meals and also a big table indoors if it was too hot. A/C worked great, beds were comfy, bathrooms were nice, owner was responsive to questions. No complaints!
