Your own Nature Retreat, minutes from town and wilderness opportuntities

This space is the best of all worlds: It feels like a home while away from home and it is conveniently located within a few minutes of Marquette and yet also a few minutes from of the best outdoor recreation in the upper midwest. It is situated on popular County Road 550 on six peaceful acres including a pond, trout stream, park like large yard, camp fire pit, gardens and woods. It is comfortable and restorative yet minutes from wilderness areas, Lake Superior beaches, hiking and mountain biking trails, downtown Marquette and shopping areas. Many of our guests enjoy the space as a destination in and of itself for personal renewal.

While not out exploring, you will enjoy this peaceful and bright home. The open floor plan makes it easy to enjoy each other’s company while making use of the well outfitted kitchen, relaxing in the living room and taking in views of back yard from the dining area. This easy flow of the space extends onto the porch where you will enjoy relaxing, dining or grilling. Stargazing, deer watching, campfires by the pond, sitting by the babbling stream, or soaking in the outdoor clawfoot tub all add to the unique experience of this special place.

Entire living space, porch and large backyard are available to guests. There is plenty of parking.

Other things to note

I revel in nature and love for people who share their passion for it. I enjoy bringing the two together in ways that celebrate adventure, health, peace, and renewal. I am fortunate to have these two properties that provide a get away from ordinary life to renew body and soul, explore and appreciate the beauty of our two peninsulas and two great lakes – Michigan and Superior. Both houses feel like a home and offer a peaceful retreat like experience yet are in close proximity to vibrant fun communities, the best outdoor recreation in the upper great lakes, and a feeling of small scale sustainability from adjacent orchards and gardens. The houses are clean and inviting. Campfire locations with either sunset over Lake Michigan or the idyllic creak and pond at Two Waters await.

Why they chose this property

The shore of Lake Superior and the town of Marquette captured my heart in 1991. I was able to permanently settle here in 1998 with the purchase of this home. I chose this house for its fabulous location and beautiful property. It's 6 acres are peaceful and have a diversity of ecosystems and uses including gardens, woods, wetlands, stream and pond. With all my favorite outdoor recreation areas just up the road a couple minutes and also only 10 minutes to downtown, the spot is ideal. The house was my primary residence for many years, and now I am happy to share its peaceful magic with you.

What makes this property unique

I love sitting at the dining room table and gazing out the picture window, watching deer, birds and the sky reflected on the pond. The home itself is cozy yet open and spacious. It is great for hosting my family and friends. I especially enjoy that I can be in Marquette in minutes and can also jump up the road a few minutes to Presque Isle, Sugarloaf, Wetmore or hop on my mountain bike and hit the miles of North Trails single track network. Afterwards, I can restore fully by the campfire, the babbling brook and stargazing from the outdoor tub.
