A bit of history!
The Porte de Bourgogne is located at the end of the former Salinières moat, now the Cours Victor-Hugo (formerly Rue des Fossés), on the site of the former medieval Porte des Salinières. It marks the city's official entrance on the ancient road leading to Paris. Tourny wanted it to accompany the Place Royale (now Place de la Bourse), and consecrated it to Prince Monseigneur le Duc de Bourgogne on January 24, 1757.
For a time, it was the Porte Napoléon to celebrate the Emperor's arrival in Bordeaux in 1808.

Le Victor Hugo The location is great, we barely had to take any transportation and there’s great restaurants around. There are many places to visit in walkable distance, and basic amenities are provided. The apartment matches the pictures and features everything needed for a short stay. However, the walls are very thin, it almost feels like our neighbours are in the same apartment. We felt a little exposed. Also, there’s somewhat of a weird smell in the corridor and it was dusty in the apartment.

This was a great spot to stay in Bordeaux and I’d stay there again! Communication was top notch! The place is super walkable! It’s near everything. The tram is close too. The bed is really comfy. There’s not any street noise. It was very clean and comfortable over all. And if you use the Bounce app for keeping your bags while waiting to check in, or after checking out, there’s a Nutt Shop right next door that will hold your bags for a fee. Over all great studio loft! The only reasons for my 4 star review are these small ones. I would give 4.75 if I could. The lights are all really too bright. There may have once been a shade on the one next to the bed, but I had to put a sock on it to read in bed. They are bare, decorative bulbs, but there are better bulbs out there for that kind of a light fixture. The other overhead lights in there needed a dimmer switch badly. There was a shelf in the closet that needed repairing. It’s where you would want to put your suit case. I’m handy and made a quick repair, but it’ll need more. The shower handle holder also needed repair as it spun. I tightened that too but it won’t hold for long. And there were ants in the bathroom. Not a big deal, and ants do happen. They had traps out, so were aware of that problem. I would still highly recommended this place!

La literie est confortable et vous avez tout le nécessaire dont vous avez besoin. Nous avons seulement eu un problème d’eau froide avec la douche à notre arrivée mais ce fut réglé dans la journée, et ce même un jour férié. Encore merci pour votre réactivité. Seul inconvénient au logement, les murs n’étant pas très épais, on peut entendre les voisins bruyants."

Et la luminosité de l’appartement était magnifique, la décoration mixte moderne et baroque parfaite. Les équipements étaient récents.
