It is right in the heart of Bordeaux, opposite the Grosse Cloche, between the St Pierre and St Michel districts, shops and restaurants. A bit of history!
The Porte de Bourgogne is located at the end of the former Salinières moat, now the Cours Victor-Hugo (formerly Rue des Fossés), on the site of the former medieval Porte des Salinières. It marks the city's official entrance on the ancient road leading to Paris. Tourny wanted it to accompany the Place Royale (now Place de la Bourse), and consecrated it to Prince Monseigneur le Duc de Bourgogne on January 24, 1757.
For a time, it was the Porte Napoléon to celebrate the Emperor's arrival in Bordeaux in 1808.

Le Victor Hugo The location is great, we barely had to take any transportation and there’s great restaurants around. There are many places to visit in walkable distance, and basic amenities are provided. The apartment matches the pictures and features everything needed for a short stay. However, the walls are very thin, it almost feels like our neighbours are in the same apartment. We felt a little exposed. Also, there’s somewhat of a weird smell in the corridor and it was dusty in the apartment.

La literie est confortable et vous avez tout le nécessaire dont vous avez besoin. Nous avons seulement eu un problème d’eau froide avec la douche à notre arrivée mais ce fut réglé dans la journée, et ce même un jour férié. Encore merci pour votre réactivité. Seul inconvénient au logement, les murs n’étant pas très épais, on peut entendre les voisins bruyants."

Et la luminosité de l’appartement était magnifique, la décoration mixte moderne et baroque parfaite. Les équipements étaient récents.
