About Mimi Johnson-Jacobs
I am a retired lawyer and my husband is a retired teacher. We live in the E. Bay Area of Northern California and get down to Mexico about twice a year.
Mimi Johnson-Jacobs purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Mimi Johnson-Jacobs chose Rancho del Oro
My husband and I visited Ajijic for 4 days in the summer of 2005. Before we left, we bought this house! It was the most impulsive thing we had ever done, especially since we were not planning to move to Mexico. However, we love having a home in the magical little town of Ajijic. And now that we are sharing it with our guests, it makes sense to keep it.
What makes this Villa unique
For me it's all about the tranquility. We have the mountains in back of us, the lake down below, and tropical birds splashing in the fountain in front of the terraza. I'm a golfer so I play at Chula Vista just about every day when we're there. My husband is a computer guy so he spends most of his days online. But we eat out most nights -- so that is our together time. Also we're both readers so we bring a stack of books and magazines and catch up on our reading in Ajijic.

Another lovely visit!
One again this year we enjoyed a wonderful holiday at Mimi’s lovely home! The gardens looked better than ever and the entire home was in beautiful shape! I think this marked our 7 th trip to Mimi’s and I can honestly say that we have never been disappointed with the experience. The only drawback this year was our early departure due to Covid 19. Hopefully all will be well in lovely Ajijic and we can look forward to our return next February and March!
We enjoyed staying at this beautiful home. Ty.
De nada! Happy New Year and hope to see you in 2020.
Great place with all the ammenities!
We had a great time staying here for a week this past November. The place is great. We enjoyed everything from the spacious rooms and plentiful decks to the beautifully landscaped grounds and heated pool. The full sized kitchen was a definite plus as we did end up making several meals and happy hour snacks there. The location was perfect in order to absorb the local culture as well as nearby activities and all of that great food. The temperature was very enjoyable 76-80 all week. I would definitely consider going back. We even made a couple of friends!
Mary, we are so glad that you had a good time in Ajijic. We followed you there to check on some maintenance issues: specifically arranging for the removal of the diseased mandarin and orange trees and their replacement with healthy ones and trimming of the palms. We also purged the dining guide of restaurants that have gone out of business, thanks to your suggestion. We love guest input, especially when it alerts us to things that we can do to make Rio Nazas #34 a place that great folks want to return to year after year. Thanks for being our guests and come back soon. Feliz Festivos! Mimi & Dennis
I feel like I stayed in an exclusive mansion
Property is as great as pictured! Everyone is so nice in Ajijic...so many surrounding areas to explore...we had a blast...oh...the food is incredibly !
Hi Kathy. Welcome to the LOA Club (Lovers of Ajijic). The food, check; the folks, check; and the beauty of central Mexico are things that us club members come back for every year. Thanks for being our guests and hurry back!
A beautiful home
Mimis home is as beautiful as the photos- no exaggeration. The pool was great and well-maintained as was the house and garden. You. can believe the reviews of the many other guests, it’s all true. We look forward to going back.
Lalo and the staff are looking forward to your return in December and going forward from there. Great to have you as our guests. Thanks for taking the time to write a review.
Other Activities: Shopping, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Health/Beauty Spa
Golf: There are 2 great golf courses near the house. The first is Chula Vista, a small, visually stunning nine hole course with no electric carts. The caddies, some of them English-speaking are wonderful and knowledgeable. Most golfers play this course twice. Chula Vista is about 3 miles from the house.
The Chapala Country Club also has a nine hole course, providing an 18 hole option. This course is longer than the course at Chula Vista and and has electric carts. It is a lovely place to play, about 20 minutes from the house.
There are also several world class courses in Mexico, several of which are in Guadalajara. Guadalajara is 45 - 60 minutes away from Rio Nazas #34.
