“Amazing”! “Relaxing and Peaceful” Cabin. "A Montana Treasure"!
Zephyr Hill is a stunning historical property located 10 minutes from Helena up Colorado Gulch. This creekside retreat is a great place for a getaway or an excellent basecamp for your Southwest Montana excursion. Carefully restored and updated with a small but modern kitchen, full bath, with a stone fireplace at the center of the cabin. Exposed logs and wood floors are comfortable while the Lodge Craft furnishings will remind you of accommodations in Yellowstone and Glacier. The huge main bedroom is a step-down from the living area and has a comfortable king-sized bed. There is also a smaller bedroom with a twin over full log bunkbed (sleeps 3). Comfortable linens along with extra layers of blankets make it warm on cool summer nights or the coldest of winter days.
We renovated this cabin for use by our own family, but it's too great not to share! We live in the adjacent home, but don't worry, with 5 acres of ground - we may not even bump into each other. All the same, if you need anything during your stay, we're right next door.
While cell service is sparse, we do have fiber-optic internet that allows for WiFi calling and all messaging options. Instructions provided in the welcome book at the Cabin. 100% of our guests have successfully used WiFi calling and you’ll see no difference in your service once connected! The TV supports Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Prime Video, etc. Please plan to familiarize yourself with casting from your own device or use your login info to access.

Thanks Beth! It was great to have you at the place! I think Ollie misses seeing you guys. Hope your return trip to Montana was all that you hoped for. Come again and bring family!
Set in a peaceful and lovely outdoor setting, the Cabin was a premier example of well thought out “hospitality.” From amazingly comfortable beds, huge fluffy towels and motion lights directing the bathroom path at night, to well stocked game shelves, dual coffee maker and complimentary micro-beers, this cabin will inspire you and/or your family to experience true “serenity.” Thank you Rick and Family for such a wonderful experience. I hope to return, frequently. Blessings… Glenna Bell Orman, Livingston, MT
Great location, though Apple and Google maps have difficulty locating the address, and cell service cuts out along the road. Near Helena but in a rural neighborhood with lots of trees and a lovely view from the front deck. Host was very responsive.

Thanks for your stay Ann! We appreciate that you cared so well for our place and would welcome you back again! It was great to see your family enjoying the setting and the deck.
We haven't had any issue with guests finding our location previously. We do send detailed turn-by-turn directions out prior to all of our guests stays as a precaution. While cell service does drop on the way up, all of our guests have been successful in using WiFi calling from The Cabin! We enjoy living here and hosting folks at The Cabin as it's a great place to relax and get away from it all!
Come back and see us again - we hope to earn your 5-Star rating on a future stay!
Wonderful property, comfortable, well outfitted and extremely charming. The property owners were gracious and welcoming. We will definitely return.

Thanks Jeff! It was a pleasure to host you and your group! It was amazing to see how well you engaged with the place - from front yard to our dog Ollie! We would welcome you back again any time! Thanks for choosing to stay at The Cabin!
The set up is really good, very quiet and peaceful - if you’re looking to reset and recharge this is the base camp you’re looking for. The cabin is set up really well for a small group, we loved having a fire in the evenings (oops just realized I left the flue open ;) ), it’s big time cozy in there and we lucked out with arriving to fresh snow, this will be my default place to stay near Helena…

Cool mountain cabin on Colorado Gulch provided a home base for us to explore Montana for the month of July 2022. Loved the cabin; very clean, nicely furnished, quick responses from owner, big yard, trees and wildlife.

Loved our 2 night stay in this charming cabin. It had everything we needed for a low key weekend with close proximity to hot springs. The fireplace is fantastic and the owners were very responsive to any questions or needs we had. The main bed was also incredibly comfortable. Would love to return!

The owners are so gracious and will help you with most anything they can. We felt safe and comfortable and we even saw many animals. Would definitely recommend and would come back again.

We were so grateful to have you as our guests! We take great pride in providing a uniquely Montana experience while not being too "cowboy cliche". Thank you for your thoughtful review! Please feel free to come our way again in the future and know that Ollie is patiently awaiting your return!
This property was wonderful! It was super comfortable, quiet and relaxing. My to young grandchildren stayed with me and enjoyed the cabin board games, playing in the teepee by the creek and running around the expansive yard. The host was super accommodating, too. I will definitely be back when I need a place to stay in Helena!

About the host
Hosted by Rick Ahmann
We are parents of a large family and enjoy VRBO as the BEST alternative to hotels when we travel! Experienced in the art of hospitality, we are able to provide a top notch stay in a one-of-a-kind place. We genuinely hope you'll enjoy The Cabin!
Why they chose this property
We have enjoyed "putting the day away" on the short drive home in the evenings, but even more, we hate leaving this property in the morning! We live next door to the Cabin and treasure this part of our property. With an open window, the sound of the creek helps us to get to sleep and stay asleep.
It's so easy to be in town for morning coffee or for an evening downtown, but escaping back to silence is golden. We're just a short distance from blue ribbon trout waters, best in the west mountain biking and an equal distance between Yellowstone and Glacier! You're going to love it here!
If you need anything, we're close by. However, we enjoy our privacy so we won't bug you!
What makes this property unique
Our place is a true historic gem. The family that spent summers here many years ago had a patriarch who was a famous inventor! While we enjoy the peaceful setting, we also love the fact that it takes just a few minutes to get into Helena.
