Wonderful view from a well-designed guest house. Hosts are excellent. Just take them seriously: You need 4WD to get up the hill.
Great property for a quick getaway and amazing views to the west of the sunsets. Joe and Marylou, who own the unit and are located next door, were extremely friendly and welcoming! They gave great advice on where to go and what to do in town.
This place was simply wonderful! The views. The hosts. The village. Everything about our stay was excellent and we’re looking forward to visiting the Deja View again soon!
This is a lovely, quiet and relaxing property. And true to the other reviews, the owners are warm, inviting, and friendly. The view is exceptional from the upper deck as well as the lower porch. Our mini-Aussies especially enjoyed their "look out" from the upper deck.
Pros: comfortable bed & furniture; dual fuel range/oven that cooked perfectly; 12 cup coffee maker; general kitchen necessities furnished.
Con: the climb to the property. Worth it, but some may find it opposing.
Things you should know before you go: (1) The road continually climbs, and the driveway itself is approximately an 11 degree incline at the start, followed by two very tight turns and an approximately 13 degree incline to the cabin. (2) You'll pull up to a garage door; that's the back of the cabin. Use the walkway to the right of the building and go around to the front door. (3) You won't receive check-in instructions from VRBO. The cabin is managed by a rental agency in Cloudcroft, and they will call you. You'll need to drive all the way into town to pick up keys and receipt, etc. (4) Take distilled/bottled water for the coffee pot, as you can't use the local water for coffee/tea. (5) If you're a serious cook, like me, take your own knives, cutting board, and pots/pans. The kitchen is stocked with 'general' cookware. (6) If you're into pizza and craft beer, don't miss Cloudcroft Brewing company. There's generally a 10 to 20 minute wait. It's worth every second! (7) Be sure to talk with Marylou and Joe, they're precious folks!
We loved every aspect of the property. The winding road up to get to the cabin was pretty steep at one point but was easy to make in our GMC truck-we did have 4WD but did not have to engage it. This cabin was PERFECT for what we were looking for which was a small cabin for just me and my husband (and our 2 fur babies)-the king-size bed was upstairs with french doors and a large covered patio overlooking the STUNNING MOUNTAINS surrounded by all the tall pine trees. Beautiful Russian sage all around as well! The cabin was very well maintained! We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the patio outside the upstairs bedroom listening to the birds and watching the hummingbirds and was thrilled to see wild turkeys walking around the bottom of the property! We definitely plan to return next year!
We came to Cloudcroft for a long weekend to get away from the “record temps” in Texas we have been experiencing all summer. We just had a baby boy at the end of May and had been feeling very cooped up as it’s difficult to do anything with an infant when it’s 105 outside. This place was absolutely perfect.
The property management company was easy to communicate with and arrange for key pickup. We came after a week of heavy rains and the road to the property was washed out quite a bit so 4WD was a necessity - which wasn’t a problem for us, but we were told usually 4WD is only needed in the winter months. The neighborhood is full of pretty steep roads and sharp turns, so definitely plan to take it slow and be extra careful once you turn off the highway. The climb is VERY worth it for the view :)
The property itself was very clean and welcoming. It has beautiful views from both the first and second floor and lots of hummingbirds and butterflies to watch from the patio. It faces west, so we enjoyed three lovely sunsets.
We stayed in and cooked breakfast and dinner each night. The kitchen was well equipped for meals at home. We were happy to see there was an ice maker in the freezer, plenty of kitchen towels and soap, and the coffee maker was a nice big 12 cup one! It’s the little things that make the difference!
We didn’t need to use the electric heaters as the house stays plenty warm at night and even gets hot enough in the daytime that we enjoyed opening the windows for a fresh breeze to come in.
The bed was quite comfortable to sleep in. The couches were very comfortable as well. We didn’t pull out the sleeper couch upstairs but the room is very spacious so if you did need the sleeper couch, it wouldn’t feel crowded.
Joe and Mary Lou - the owners - live next door and were available and friendly, offering great local suggestions for activities and places to go. There is a lot of hiking, shopping, and sightseeing within 15 minutes of the house so it’s a very convenient location.
We would absolutely rent this property again! Thank you for having us!
Surrounded by tall trees and complete with high mountain views, this is the perfect spot for anyone seeking a calm and quiet getaway.
The hosts were wonderful, which added to what was a splendid, serene stay at this wonderful property.
Great get away! We had so much fun exploring cloudcroft and this was a great place to stay. The view is amazing - but I didn’t really think about how high up a mountain and how steep it would be to get that view.
scary drive for me - maybe not for others. Arrive during the day time for safety!
Hosts very kind and wonderful.
Everything about the house was amazing. Beautiful inside and out. The house had all the amenities needed while being away from home. The outside views were stunning.
This property is beautiful, fresh, clean and lavishly furnished. The bed slept well, the kitchen is fully equipped and it has all the comforts of home. Plus the view out the back balcony is marvelous! The house is perched on top of a hill in the quiet woods and was close to all the best hiking trails. The host and hostess were just as nice as can be. It made for a wonderful vacation!
We rented the cabin to get away from the 4th fireworks with my dogs. The property was clean and relaxing, lots of great hiking trails in the area. The weather was beautiful and the view was amazing.
Very nice two story garage apartment nestled in the forest with amazing views from the deck off the upstairs bedroom and the downstairs living area! Accommodations were in excellent condition. Host was friendly and welcoming and their residence is on premise right next door so they’re there if you need anything!
Property is clean and well appointed. The view on the deck facing out to the mountains is simply amazing.
Joe and his wife were close by and extremely kind and kept good communication throughout. Definitely enjoyed the stay.
