Welcome to Byrd's Eye View on Sugar Mountain! This unique house is perfect for your mountain vacation. Conveniently located minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, and you can even take a walking trek to the top of Sugar! An easy drive to Boone and Blowing Rock.

You have never seen anything like this place! Byrd's Eye View presents a modern mountain cabin merged with a Renaissance period feel due to the intricate stonework throughout the interior and exterior of the house. The back roof is dome-shaped and the front of the house is full of beautiful windows to connect you directly with the trees and mountain air. Bamboo floors throughout. In the cooler months, the fireplace heats the whole house and creates a perfect atmosphere for unwinding. The front porch is ideal for relaxing mornings with coffee and evenings with wine.

The kitchen is large and wide-open and fully stocked for your use. There is a washer and dryer on-site.

The downstairs bedroom has a Dream Cloud, Queen bed and is located behind the fireplace. Next door, is the downstairs full bathroom with a heated floor. Upstairs is the loft with a luxurious King-sized bed and a half bath that is part of the room. (This is a very European style!) The name Byrd's Eye View comes from looking out the cathedral window from the top of the stairs.

The house has sufficient parking space for two vehicles. 4WD vehicles are recommended in winter months. The two bedrooms provide sufficient space for four adults; or more if you want to use the couches for sleeping spaces. (Maximum of 6 adults allowed to stay overnight and maximum of 6 guests allowed at one time on the property.) Because of the stonework throughout the house, we feel Byrd's Eye View is most appropriate for children aged 9 years and older. (Exceptions can be made with parental consent.)

Byrd's Eye View welcomes your furry family members as well. The house has a side yard that is fenced and the front porch is gated!

Sugar Mountain Resort is just up the road, where you will find an outdoor skating rink, snow tubing, mountain bike tours, summer ski lift rides, a public tennis court, and a full golf course. There are plenty of restaurants close by including The Pedalin’ Pig and Bella's Italian. Lowe's Foods and Food Lion are close by for grocery options. Downtown Banner Elk and Beech Mountain are fun mountain hangouts. Take an afternoon to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit downtown Blowing Rock for shopping and dining. Grandfather State Park is a must-see! (Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance.) Tons of live music options. And of course Boone and Appalachian State are just up the main drag!

Hiking is everywhere; from easy to strenuous. Again, just a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, especially over the Linn Cove Viaduct, is absolutely breathtaking.

Great place!

Great place to stay! Right near the entrance of the community so it was easy to get to. So close to Sugar Mountain Skiing! The side yard is fenced and it was easy to let the dogs out in the morning. Overall we had a great experience here and enjoyed are stay! (P.S. Erin recommends Bella’s Italian Restaurant and we couldn’t agree more…it was delicious!)

Wonderful stay!

I took my little boy for a 10th birthday trip and we had a great time! The cabin is so comfortable and we just loved it. The beds are so comfortable with soft sheets(towels were so nice too!)! And the couches in the living room were just the coziest after a long day of skiing. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Outstanding Property

We visited the cabin over Thanksgiving and we had the best time. The kitchen is very well stocked and has plenty of room for meal prep. Large smart TV for relaxing in the evenings in front of a fire. There is an abundance of hiking as well as plenty of other activities. I would highly recommend this cabin!

I absolutely love hosting and want to make your vacation special! I am an avid traveler and explorer of all life has to offer. I played volleyball for the University of Wisconsin, the the USA National Team, and professionally in Germany and Puerto Rico. I spent a summer working in South Africa. I have lived and traveled all over the world. I am the oldest of five and love being an aunt to my nieces and nephews!

I am a very active person but this house, Byrd's Eye View allows me to enjoy a full day surrounded by nature and then relax completely at the house. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and make yourself at home!

It is an awesome combination of a mountain cabin and a Renaissance-period/European feel. The stone arches, front porch, and fireplace make this a destination you will want to return to year after year. Location is PERFECT for experiencing all the High Country has to offer!

Location, Location, Location! Easier access than most mountain getaways. You can visit Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Banner Elk, Grandfather Mountain, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, and Boone all in a few days' trip and then spend your evenings relaxing at the house.
