3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Timeless & Classic Log Cabin
Cynthia and Olen Wood
Why Cynthia and Olen Wood chose Sugar Grove
Our cabin was built by our late parents in 1977. At the time we lived in a small town, Stedman, N.C., where Mom and Dad were school administrators. Whenever possible they would travel to the High Country for vacation and like many folks, they fell in love with the beautiful landscapes and heartwarming hospitality of the local people. It was a dream fulfilled when they were able to purchase 5 acres on this mountain and build their log cabin home. Rebecca and Woody created many wonderful memories for themselves, their children and grandchildren. The years have passed and though Mom and Dad are no longer here with us, our log cabin in the High Country still remains a place for continued wonderful memories to be created. We have renovated several things within the cabin, but also have tried to maintain much of its authenticity. We are pleased to share this special place and hope your stay here will be a wonderful memory for you and your family too.

Couldn't get much better!
What a fantastic quiet cabin in gorgeous countryside. Avoid the gated communities and huge chalets built a stone's throw from each other and retreat to a delightful cabin with an incredible view, porch, and fire pit, and two owners who go way out of their way to make everything just right. Clear and easy communication before and during our stay. They have ever cooking item you could ever want, and a cabin set up perfect for an extended family (grandparents, parents, kids.) Location is great to get to Boone, hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and even Roan Mountain. A great week!
Great cabin getaway!
My wife and three girls and I loved the cabin. It was really cozy and comfortable, and was stocked with everything you could ask for. We loved the location and how private it was up on the hill by itself. The beds were all comfortable, and the upgrades throughout the cabin were really well done. Would definitely recommend staying here. We hope to be back, maybe when we can see some snow. Thanks for sharing your cabin with our family. We will always have great memories there!
Mountain and Tweetsie Weekend with Friends
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin! Everything was so clean and it was stocked with everything that we needed. The kitchen and two bathrooms were also nicely updated. We rented the cabin so that we could visit Tweetsie Railroad and see Thomas the Train. The 30 minute drive to Boone wasn’t bad at all. It ended up being rainy all weekend so we couldn’t really take advantage of all of the outside features like the fire pit and decks. When there was a break in the rain (for like 45 minutes), we were able to hang out on the deck with everyone. The view is breathtaking. It was also nice being able to bring our furbaby. She is typically a beach dog but enjoyed her mountain visit too. Thanks again for a wonderful visit to the mountains!
Very beautiful and comfortable
It was great staying at the property. The house is at a great location and the views are so good.
The outdoors are planned so well. We had a great time staying here.
Nice place to get away
Clean, quite, plenty of privacy. Very nice master bath and overall quite good. We especially enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. Kitchen was complete with everything you need. Nice gas stove. No complaints.
We really enjoyed our stay in your cabin. The longer you’re there the more it grows on you. We took several hikes from the cabin in the surrounding area and really enjoyed the tough hike up the road to the top of the mountain.
We had several beautiful sunsets and even a hail storm. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit several nights. Used 1 bag of your wood but replaced it. Overall I’d say we had an awesome stay. Thanks again, Tedd
