About this property
Black Bear Cabin - Amazing Sunset Views
Welcome to our cabin in the beautiful mountain village of Cloudcroft, New Mexico - elevation 9000 feet "above stress level!" Located less than a half mile from Burro St but with a secluded feel. 3 private bedrooms, 2 baths; sleeps up to 8. Spacious family/living room with large windows for sunset views, TV/DVD/BluRay player/Roku, and a selection of board games & puzzles. Newly renovated furnished kitchen. Enormous walk-out elevated deck with covered and uncovered sections - enjoy the sunsets or starry nights. Off street parking, level road access. NO SMOKING/VAPING, NO PARTIES, NO PETS.
This cabin features a large dining area with centrally located wood burning stove and a spacious family/living room with large windows for enjoying the evening sunsets while you play a board game or watch a movie (Roku provided; guest to bring your own account logins to streaming services).
The newly renovated kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, dishes, glasses and a variety of utensils (no dishwasher). A few complimentary K-cups and hot chocolate packets are provided to enjoy on your first morning.
The master bedroom is on the main floor and features a king size bed and en suite bathroom with shower. A second full bathroom with shower/tub is also on the main level.
Downstairs are a laundry washer and dryer as well as a private bedroom with one queen and one twin bed. The downstairs opens to a covered lower deck with a gas grill and access to the backyard.
Upstairs is a cozy kid's loft with a small lounge area and one more twin bed.
The family room also features a queen size sofa bed bringing the total sleeping arrangements up to 8.
Each room has a baseboard heater and the centrally located wood stove adds extra heat on the colder winter nights (wood provided). A built in convection fan can be used to force warm air from above the wood stove into the downstairs bedroom.
The back patio opens onto an enormous deck with benches, picnic table, and lounge chairs. Sweeping views of the White Sands, Sierra Blanca Peak, and of course the famous Cloudcroft sunsets. Take the stairs down from the deck to the back/side yard with another picnic table, charcoal grill, and firepit area.
This cabin has an unbuilt lot on either side and nobody behind which gives it a great feeling of privacy and seclusion, even though it's very conveniently close to the village!
Wildlife viewing opportunities are common, with elk, deer, turkeys, and hummingbirds making appearances.
It's a very short walk or drive to town. If you forgot anything, the Family Dollar store has a wide variety of products, and the Allsup's gas station has a small selection of groceries available 24 hours.
Access is easy and direct from the Village along a well maintained, level road, so access is good year round with most regular vehicles, although 4WD/AWD is recommended in the winter. Off street parking is provided for up to two vehicles on the pull-through driveway. It's an easy half mile walk, drive, or bike ride to the center of town to enjoy the restaurants, shops, and recreational opportunities. Go for a hike or mountain bike ride, or play a round of golf at the Lodge immediately up the hill.
Required disclosure: There is one security camera on the front of the cabin, which looks out at the driveway and street. It is used to assess weather and snow conditions for plowing. It has no visibility into any interior or exterior living space. It is continuously on.
