About this property

Twain Harte Lake retreat w/ summer lake access, walk to town, close to skiing

Welcome to our home away from home! Newly built private entry & detached loft guest apartment on our peaceful and quaint property in lovely Twain Harte, CA . Beautiful in summer and a five minute walk to downtown Twain Harte bars and restaurants, mini golf, community park and pool, tennis courts, executive golf course and private (and included) Twain Harte Lake. 30 minute drive to Pinecrest Lake and multiple reservoirs for boating. Close to Yosemite! In the winter, a 30 minute drive to Dodge Ridge for skiing, sledding and ice skating. 2-2.5 hours from SF!

We're happy to share our home away from home! This private, air conditioned/heated unit is newly designed and sits atop our garage on our property. It's a completely separate guest house with private entry and no shared spaces. Please note that the unit does not have a full kitchen, but instead a kitchenette with plenty of amenities to prepare some light meals (included are mini fridge/freezer, coffee maker, hot plate, microwave, toaster oven and all the basic kitchen necessities - note, no dishwasher). The futon would make a bed for two children (or one-two small adults) if desired and we have lots of baby equipment in the closet if desired including a highchair and pack'n'play (please bring your own sheets). Free parking on the side of the house by entry and quick walk to all the amenities of downtown Twain Harte. Access to Twain Harte Lake is included on our membership - please enquire if interested. The main home's front and back yard are for owners'/main home renter use only (including the pool). There is an outdoor eating area reserved for our guest house rental guests by the guest house rental entry. Our guest suite would be a great fit for a couple or a family with young children! We love escaping the congested and busy Bay Area to come out to Twain Harte and we hope you will, too!

The unit is on the owner's property and the owners (and/or main home renters) may be on the property at any time. All guests come and go as they please and my feel free to say hello to each other - please note that rental areas are completely separate and distinct and you will be able to enjoy your privacy.

Retreat #2 is wonderful on its own or as an additional rental with the main house. We rented it for our extra family members and they really enjoyed their stay. The beds were comfortable and the space nicely laid out. We would definitely stay it again!

Quaint Twain Harte Charmer

We had a wonderful stay in Twain Harte with family and friends. Enjoyed Pinecrest Lake, Twain Harte Lake, the fantastic pool and hot tub at the house, miniature golf i. town, and family BBQs on the deck. We had an incredible week in this lovely mountain home. It is a beautifully updated classic home with all the amenities one could want, but it maintains that quaint and charming Twain Harte feel. Our family loved it!!

Relax in Twain Harte

Nice relaxing place and the air conditioning was needed and functioned perfect. Short walk to downtown area with choices for food &/or drink. Close drive to fishing and other activities. I’m glad I stayed. Mary was on the spot since I did have to contact her once.

The Air Conditioning unit was out of service well before our arrival and remained out of service for the duration of our stay. The alternate solution offered left us in a sweltering hot box both upstairs and in the ground floor. This turned out to be the worst ever accommodations in over forty years of vacations in Twain Harte.

Hi Dennis, I am sorry you did not have a good time due to the air conditioning being out - and during what turned out to be the hottest week of the summer during your stay. As you mentioned, I made you fully aware that the air conditioning was not currently functioning and in need of a repair prior to your visit. I also opened up an entire additional bedroom downstairs to account for that which the guests before you said worked great as a solution. The air conditioning being out had nothing to do with us dragging our feet. We’ve been working on a repair all summer and are now installing a mini split system this coming week given that the traditional HVAC system cannot be replaced. I am shocked that you would leave such a disparaging and seemingly vindictive review given I never heard from you during your stay about how uncomfortable you were. Our number one goal is for our guests to be satisfied.

Pleasant setting.

This studio apartment is very clean, comfortable and has a delightful decor. A/C is appreciated on warm Twain Harte days, but wasn’t needed during this mild June visit. Although the refer is small, I was able to fit four days’ worth of (simple) prepared meals for myself. Lake Membership is a plus! Mary has always responded quickly to questions and requests. I plan to come back!

I had a lovely time in Twain Harte in August. The studio apartment met my needs very well. It was attractive, clean and comfortable. I enjoy spending most of my day at TH Lake or walking, so do prepare easy to-assemble meals in advance to avoid cooking. Thus, the kitchenette worked fine for me. Walking round trip to the lake and back took about an hour. A comfortable (double) bed and AC are always appreciated. The owners are especially approachable and helpful. With the challenges of coordinating extended family vacations these days, I am very happy to have found this little gem for myself!

We, along with our three children, purchased our vacation home in Twain Harte a few years ago - we took one look at Twain Harte Lake and the house after getting acquainted with the nearby ski hill (Dodge Ridge) and were hooked and purchased within the week! With our busy lives at home we can't get to our lovely Green House as much as we would like and are excited to share it with others, from both near and far. Everything at The Green House - in both our main home and guest home - is lovingly and thoughtfully put together and we hope you enjoy your stay!

Our guest house retreat at The Green House Twain Harte is full of charm and in an amazing location with a 5-minute walk to downtown a peaceful neighborhood. Our Green House guest house renters are able to get into the private and beloved Twain Harte Lake on our membership (summer months only). Cozy and warm in the winter for a quick ski trip to Dodge Ridge (sledding, ice skating and snow play all easily available as well); cool and relaxing in the summer with lake access; beautiful year-round with plenty to do - you must come see!

Everything you need for an easy stay is provided (kitchenware, appliances, cookware, cleaning and paper supplies, morning coffee, bedding and towels). If traveling with children, the futon and provided additional bedding/pillows can be used for larger children and we also provide a pack'n'play (please bring own sheets), highchair and booster chair to make your travel easy! The studio retreat has plenty of space for all your things including two large walk-in closets and a downstairs storage area for larger equipment. There is a dining table for 4 as well as a kitchen hutch that can double as an additional space to work or eat. The smart TV and Roku stream bar are wired for high-speed streaming and the apartment is a peaceful and quiet place to work from home with high-speed wifi.

What makes this property unique

This private, air conditioned/heated studio apartment retreat with a full bath and a kitchenette is newly designed and sits atop the garage on our property which is used for storage only (you will not hear a garage door during your stay). It's a completely separate guest house with private entry and no shared spaces. The apartment is larger than it looks and has plenty of space to store all your gear, including two large walk-in closets and a long hallway downstairs which could easily store extra equipment you may have with you such as skis or bikes, etc. Pack'n'play and highchair are provided.

All bedding and towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels) as well as cleaning supplies, paper products, and starter supplies of coffee and plenty of creamer and teas. Please note that the apartment offers a kitchenette with plenty of amenities to prepare some light meals. Included are a mini fridge/freezer (this is fairly good sized and holds much more than your standard hotel mini fridge), a Keurig coffee maker, hot plate, microwave, toaster, countertop oven and all the basic kitchen necessities including dishes, glassware, cookware, tea kettle and utensils.

The futon would make a bed for two children (or one-two small adults) if desired (extra bedding and pillows provided) and we have lots of baby equipment in the closet if desired including a highchair, booster chair, and pack'n'play infant bed (please bring your own sheets).

There is a dining table for 4 as well as a kitchen hutch that can double as an additional space to work or eat. The smart TV and Roku stream bar are wired for high-speed streaming and the apartment is a peaceful and quiet place to work from home with high-speed wifi.
