## Emplacement
Saint-Mandé, located in the southeast of Paris, is an attractive tourist destination. The city is nestled in the heart of the Bois de Vincennes, the largest wooded park in Île-de-France. Its coat of arms, depicting a squirrel, Fouquet's arms, streams and a lake, reflects its close connection with the surrounding nature. The history of Saint-Mandé dates back to the Middle Ages, when the village was a hamlet grouped around a chapel and a Benedictine priory. Over the centuries, the city has attracted such great figures as Louis XIV and Molière, who frequented the luxurious property of Superintendent Fouquet. Despite the territorial losses, Saint-Mandé prospered and became a privileged place for Parisians, with magnificent mansions and bourgeois buildings. The city is also home to renowned social institutions and companies, such as the National Institute of Geographic and Forestry Information, Météo-France and the Hydraulic and Oceanographic Service of the National Navy. In addition, Saint-Mandé is twinned with towns such as Waltham Forest, Tres Cantos, Concord, Drogheda, Yanggy, Saint-Jean d'Acre, Eschwege and Vila Verde. With its historical charm and contemporary vitality, Saint-Mandé offers a harmonious blend of quality of life and dynamism.
